People who are bored with acquiring gear through dungeons wouldn't be bored with acquiring more gear through dungeons?

Also I just realized the obvious ploy for fine transmutation stones. I wonder how much ANet is going to rake in for people to get their armor up to spec.

If getting your hands on the new gear isn't ridiculously hard, and the mystic forge recipes don't require absurd amounts of rare drops, I'm probably going to be fine with it.

If getting ahead with acquiring this new gear takes countless runs of the new Fractals dungeon, that grow increasingly frustrating because of the lack of infusions, I'm probably going to hate it.

I'm bored with all the current dungeons, and there is no point in collecting anymore tokens since the gear is essentially all the same and I already have the stats I want.  Now I'm looking forward to a new challenging dungeon with better rewards for players who can clear it.  So no, I'm not going to be bored with a new dungeon with new rewards.  Why would I complain about a new dungeon being added and a new set of gear with very slightly better stats that can be obtained through it?  OMG NOOO NEW STUFF I HATEZ THIS GAMEZ.  And I'm not alone apparently.

Probably.

I don't even know if I want to finish my CoF armor. I only started because I was doing CoF to spice it up, and didn't really care because it was another top-tier set I can switch to whenever I wanted, but now...

I guess I just don't do anything but Fractals until they release full Ascended armor sets.

On the other hand, I could just roll with exotics for the rest of my GW2 life to be "retro", and just never play past a certain point of Fractal.

I don't care, you can do dungeons with Rare gear so what is the fuss ? I enjoy the game and play it for fun. I find the ascended items a good addition, people will have a long term goal, what is the problem ? Why people care so much if someone has "that" armor or not...

Because you can't do this dungeon, past a certain point, with any gear but infused Ascended.

Yeah but AFAIK the good thing is - it doesn't really have a story or very new design. So you're not really missing out on something new and wondrous to explore. All it has (from what I've understood) is ever increasing difficulty, random "skin" based off of other dungeons and better Mists-dungeon specific rewards through infusion (apart from the first items and later armor sets which will only be needed once).

1st, its closer to 8% (7.9% and change) because you have to factor in that the items also have extra stats that would normally be provided by what you put in your upgrade slot (since the new ascended armors have different "infusion" upgrades). check the picture again and youll see.

2nd, the percentages dont add up like that. each piece will ahve 8% more stats, that means the full set will be 8% more stats than a full set of exotic. the actual stats add up like that, the percentage doesnt. 8% more stats over exotic is still a whole lot though.

Seeing how I can't find a copy of Guild Wars 2 in my country-I am still POTENTIAL buyer. And if they try doing this stunt, it is EoTN all over again(the worst addition to GW 1). Not to mention it would be walking all over your Manifesto. Therefore-lying to your customers.

Meh. Ever since Strain left, the design paradigm of ANet changed. I REALLY doubt that He'd allow even Exotics to exist, let alone this...

Furthermore: It is pointless to even contemplate attacking Schloss von WoWenburg(hehe). Why? Well because some really heavy artillery slugs have been fired at it and it hasn't even shown signs of breaking(let alone broke Down). Those slugs are LoTR:O/WAR/AoC. They not only attacked WoW with gameplay similar to their's, but with mega famous IPs to boot. They gave you the ability to live in MIDDLE-EARTH/HYBORIA/ULTHUAN and people said "No Thank you! I'll be doing this in AZEROTH!" O.O. So if they can't break WoW with basical advance of standard Themepark model mixed with gigantic IPs-what makes ANet think that they COULD(if this proves to be true)? After all, I didn't play GW1 for Obsidian set or anything Like it. I played it because of horizontal progression/stories/pvp(in that order). Now I know I can't be speaking for everyone, but I do think GW1 players share my sentiments.

Plus: Do not forget that I am yet to buy the game. And after Diablo III released 1.05 it has really challenged my will to buy GW 2. Thread carefully ANet. VERY carefully. For this is the Path you should Fear to Thread...

Finally: Seeing how I am xNFP and a Pisces to boot, my predicament towards this is: "I will wait to see how it turns out."

A lot of posts are people just crying "I can't do X without ascended gear now".
Well, face it, people like progression. I for one will be happy to welcome something like the new dungeon where this gear is needed. Now there's something that you can look forward to and build to. Right now everyone can do anything, which makes the game a bit flat and virtually transparent. What I mean to say is, GW1 had it's underworld and a lot more things that were a tad bit mysterious.

Giving access to all the content without having to do ANY work is ridiculous imo.

Bring on the Ascended items.

I wouldn't mind this at all. People will still need to work towards the gear anyway so who cares where it will be from, especially with only infusions really influencing the outcome of the new dungeon.

I did. That's not the point.

Exotic: Karma vendors, normal crafting, buying it off the trading post, obtainable in loot/chest (very rare but still), mystic forge AND dungeons. Tons of different ways to get it, choose the way you like and have fun doing it.

Ascended: one recipe with the mystic forge (which may ask 250 ectos and 115 gold lolz), the other parts (the rings) obtainable only in the dungeon. So either they take the route of the exotic and adds more way to acquire them, or they stick in this mess. We know nothing about the other armor parts they want to implement but I wouldn't be surprised if we need to play through the dungeon tons of times to get one piece.

Not everybody like doing a hardcore dungeons and dying thousand of times in it. I do dungeons for fun and for the look, not because I'm forced if I want the last tier.

That's the thing - I think they won't. Because they'll see this gear as a stepping stone toward the still more valuable and prestigious (but equally powerful) legendaries. And there will still be stat progression to look forward to with Infusion, which will be increasing in-dungeon power (but nothing else outside this specific dungeon design). Or at least, I think that's the plan
