Arenanet has finally updated the event page for the Lost Shores update. Here's what you can expect:

• A mysterious zone to explore, accessible to all players regardless of level
  
• A challenging new dungeon to conquer
  
• A new PvP map set within a Kodan dojo
  
• New gear to acquire, ranging from additional weapons skins to item enhancements to an additional tier of items between Exotic and Legendary.
  
• Crafting updates including a new resource to harvest and 200 new recipes
  
• A one-time in-game event that will forever leave its mark on the world of Tyria, starting Friday, November 16 and ending Monday, November 19.

Details on the in-game event haven't been disclosed as of yet, however a schedule has been released for that and the free weekend so you'll know when to hop on:

• Thursday, November 15, 18:00 CET (17:00 GMT) – Free trial period begins
  
• Friday, November 16, 21:00 CET (20:00 GMT) – One-time Lost Shores event begins
  
• Sunday, November 18, 21:00 CET (20:00 GMT) – Final event stage begins
  
• Monday, November 19, 07:00 CET (06:00 GMT) – One-time event and free trial weekend ends

Looks like they took the Black Lion Chests debacle very seriously, it seems as though these new weapon skins will be available as "direct buy" from the gem store itself. Well played Arenanet, well played.

Yes, it's important to know that the unique miniatures and skins were not stated to be from the chests, but from the gem store.  Whether the chests will be involved is anyone's guess.

I'm waiting to hear about the ascended items.  The image on the page looks to be a back item, which makes me wonder if it'll be only a few items at ascended level and it's a more strategic choice (like bane effects or something like that).  Maybe we'll get a "bane:Karka" effect that lets us hurt them.  Infusions were said to be from dungeons, so perhaps you'll need to use the existing dungeons' tokens to get them.

Interested to see how this plays out.

I guess it's a foregone conclusion for what happens during the event. "Defend LA" apparently will not happen as the next day we have to "Retake LA."  Apparently we will then succeed and push through to Southsun Cove the day after.  Good job guyz on our success!!

Most likely just meaning new skins. "Random name here" weapon set. For example: Jade daggers, Jade axe, Jade pistol etc.

Wait until you read how there doing the new dungeon....its just plain ridiculous. I was hoping it was going to be like eye of the north dungeons but it's not even close lol.

ahaaH i knew I wasnt crazy when I baught all those chest at 3 copper at the end of halloween =D. They are all sold for 15 now muahah!

I for one am very pleased that they are pumping out this much content so soon after launch.  Very few MMOs these days have had updates of such quantity.

Hmm, I still haven't see/read any solid info about the Refer-a-Friend trial going on, just that its supposedly implemented today, and that it starts on Thurs the 15th with everything else that's going on, but no details about how they are handling it, or even how to invite people. Hopefully more info will be available soon!

Gem store weapon skins is awful. I would much rather have a small random chance to get something than have people spending RL money to buy skins.

Let's not fool ourselves, given your track record you would have probably complained about something. In this case you are complaining about something w/o even understanding the full nature.
