Except they said themselves, you only need the infusion if you're going to be hardcore grinding the dungeon, in which case you'll get the new gear. If you aren't grinding the new dungeon hardcore, you can just do it in rares/exotics like normal and you don't have to worry.

No, its not like infusion. Because infusion didn't magically give me +10% stats across the board on my armor.... nor the possibility of having to keep upgrading my armor for more infusions down the road with possible more +% increases. This is why its called a power creep.

And the idea of infusion was entirely thrown out by Nightfall too, and had no place at all in EotN.

Remember how GW1 started off with the terrible idea of having to re-run the same story mission 5 times to finish off a set? Remember how stupid of an idea that was and was then removed?

Then why make it 10% better than exotic gear? If it weren't a power creep, there'd be no stat difference.

I'm actually okay with this now. They're giving people a choice in it, much like the rest of the game.

When it becomes apparent that you need Ascended gear to find a group to get the Ascended gear, the real shitstorm will begin. It's like finding a group on your alt to do AC exp at level 35.

Those elitists will always exist, and they'll be well on their way through the hard levels of the dungeon while the people who aren't get to peacefully play together.

Again, they're giving the OPTION of tiered gear. You don't need ascended for the infusion unless you get really deep into the dungeon. You'll be able to experience even in exotics and yellows, casually. The hard core grind machines get what they want, and the anti-treadmills get to keep what they have.

I was against it at the start but it doesn't sound all that bad now.

Cant say i applaud Anet's decision in implementing this decension crap.
Problem is, do the monsters who cast agony only are found in the new dungeon? If this condition is found in the whole world, and if this condition is annoying e.g. Cast on you = 3sec and you die, bad bad idea

You can infuse any armour you want in GW1.

Honestly, if they answered your question with "No more tiers/stat progression to come", will you believe them? Who knows what's to come, Anet love to go back on their word it seems.

Sounds like we just turned back the clock to release day of GW, and having to grind for hours on end in PvE and Ettins to get those superior runes.

This is technically true but had practical limitations when push came to shove. You could infuse the set you got in Ascalon at level five... but what would be the point, really? The stats wouldn't be good enough to protect you from other forms of incoming damage. So if we're being realistic, there wouldn't be much point infusing something that wasn't max or near-max in terms of stats. Even as far back as Prophecies, it was necessary to keep your gear upgraded to the level of the content to get the proper benefits from it.

I realize what's planned here is a little different - but it's also just for one dungeon, not something necessary for completing the story period.

samething in GW1 soon as u got 2 the third southern shiverpeak mission, you HAD to do runs and infuse each piece(eventually allowed all pieces at once) before any1 would let you join to do WHOLE mission because Spectral agony would ape face you..and SORRY but in HM release in gw1 i would NOT take a non infused pug anywhere there were Mursaat/Titans..so thas nothing new...but hey, if you dont wanna do it, THATS FINE, but dont make a sook over it, cus theres MANY happy to play that content

Only 3 things that makes me sad/scared:
  • Dungeon armor isn't the best anymore
  • I'm scared this is going to end up with: "LFG need defensive & offensive infusions"
  • How about the other dungeons? Are people still going to play them?
I don't mind the new stats that much, I'm only not sure about this infusion system...
And it makes me sad for all the people who've put alot of time in their dungeon armors...

But hey! Let's wait and see...

Just when my guild finally started building back up again, waiting to transfer to another server to begin doing stuff together, this drops on us. Guild leader is furious, getting a refund right now, and most of our members have already quit. Now i'm back to being guildless and searching for a guild that i can enjoy the game with, which is harder then it sounds.
I'll reserve my own personal judgment about this new feature and how it effects me until...it actually effects me. I'm just worried that i'll have to have a different set of armor for every new dungeon, I should be able to enter any dungeon i want with a basic set of gear and get upgrades..building new sets of armor is can be quite tedious and expensive. Something i don't find fun or exciting.

if he quit over this, he never liked the game anyway(same as any1 ready to quit) and for GW1 junkies, we been waiting for this type(ascension/Weh No Sah/Infusion) and ELITE end game...any1 crying was not hardcore gw1/not gw1..enough said

Considering power creep is a matter of the added stats eventually unbalancing the game because the higher values interact differently with the mechanics, I don't think we're seeing much power creep here. So longs as the stats don't get too high, the power creep won't cause the imbalance. And with a roughly 1% overall stat increase (across all slots when we have full ascended in future patches) I doubt it will be breaking the games balance and causing new stat priorities due to higher values or anything of the sort.

So far as agony and the new dungeon goes, yea people are going to discriminate, it's unavoidable.
They can either have this problem with the new dungeon or keep the old problem of their player base wanting character progression.
I'd say a dungeon specific stat that doesn't affect overall character power is about as good as it's going to get so far as character progress without stat increases goes (leaving aside the 1% increase on ascended gear, which I've already said I don't think will be a problem since its really small).
