German site apparently got a real response.

They specifically state they are not saying ascended will be the last because they don't want to be able to be accused of breaking promises again if they decide to add more tiers.

Pretty much paving the way for the treadmill incoming.

Oh man...just look at the gw2db and sort for rarity.

There's also been some shots of low level infusions, they don't just add agony or dungeon resists. The one I saw added agony resist and condition damage. There's a shot of a ring with way more stats than any exotic out there, etc. This shit is looking even worse than I thought it was at first :\

Oh ascended also comes in stat combinations previously not available. Like Power/Toughness/crit damage

Oh man the damage on my legendary just went from 1200 at max to 1260 at max.

A lot of these ascended rings have different stat combinations that the craftables we have (carrion, knight, etc.) and some are more varied in their stats (Lunaria is a lot like the Triforge necklace). Seems like when they become infused the rings gain some +agony resistance but whether that's the infusion itself or not I do not know.

Yeah, I've since seen some of the stats.  Meh.  On the bright side, I don't have to be pissed off trying to find a WvW team anymore so I can get badges and bags.  Because I won't be in WvW anymore.

Cute. That's all you have left after I've refuted everything else and shown quotes and now official Anet posts stating they will not say Ascended is the last tier. Nice.

ANet probably did this to force full PVP players to appreciate and participate in PVE. In my opinion, it's a good thing. They forced players to do more dungeons to get their gear and more parties will be formed that way. If the PVPers don't like this because they live in the world of PVP, might as well play COD or LoL.

PvP players will never be able to appreciate scripted pve encounters. Why force them to lower their standards?

Many PvP players do play CoD and LoL.  What was your point?

Exotics can be buy via trading post while ascension i think cannot. This will affect a lot of our WvW attendance. Now it's a real attration to lure our population away.

It will surely make WvW become desert town in most of the tier (may be with exception tier1?)... and that's bad for people like me who the only thing that connect me with GW2 is WvW not PvE or SPvP...

They seriously need to ramp up WvW reward fast. The more chance of rare and exotics doesnt cut the ascesion items effect i think. WvW will slowly fade, and will be severely hurt all the fun.

I really get tired of seeing the statements referring to these games because it's completely moronic. I only play games for PvP and I absolutely can't stand CoD or LoL.

Just saying that people who focus on PVP might as well play a pure pvp game if they didn't like how to obtain their armor.

Or probably whine to force ANet make a pure PVP server to lessen the people complaining how to obtain the new gear.

I dunno about CoD, but LoL is a hollow shadow of MOBA genre completly inferior to DoTA 2 depth wise and also demanding you to farm or buy heroes to remain reliably competitive. So no, LoL isn't a good example of a PvP game. It requires even insane farm to claim a pool of heroes allowing you to fullfill different roles with at least some versality and that's a worst possible design for a PvP game.

That being said we need to take a close look on stats difference between ascended gear and exotic becouse it might be very well a miserable difference that won't really impact you especially in zerg vs zerg scenario. My bet is that ascended gear will simply look real good and that'll be enough in itself to make ppls happy. Given how high are base stats/trait stats i have hard time believing that ascended items will ruin WvW, besides as far as i remmember devs said that there'll be different means of aquiring it.

And why don't people who like dungeons go play a pure PvE game and not complain about no gear progression and getting it added it to a game where it wasn't needed?

I just don't like to jump to conclusions before I see everything play out.   Getting pissed off about something before you see the full implifications of it is bad.  Everyone assumes the worst in all these ocassions and it is like chicken little with the sky is falling.

Are you saying that people who do dungeons in GW2 doesn't need to upgrade their gear to do dungeons? Wow... Have you even played an MMO before? This is not COD dude. There's gear progression even in a pure PVE game because the dungeons and mobs are becoming tougher.

You can't. Yet....but they have no clue when the WvW availability will be implemented.

And even when you can, you'll have to 'enjoy' getting beat down by the Guild Wars 2 version of raiders in much better gear than you have in order to play catch up.

Hell no, I'm not doing that.  It's like just about every other MMO out there.  Rain gear on a bunch of part-time pvpers as a reward for running their dungeons all day, then turn them loose on the pvpers who don't do dungeons.


I guess I'm going to work on leveling my necro cook.  That is the one crafting skill not ruined by Ascended, right?

Or will we soon see exclusive Fractal dungeon cooking recipes and mats drops next?  Oh god, we will, won't we?

Dunno, I'm playing PS2 for now and keeping my eye on Elder Scrolls Online, supposed to release 2013.

I'm debating asking for a refund just because its the only action I can do to punish them, and they have been giving them with no debate. Pretty sad, means they realize they *ed all their fans and are ok with giving them the refunds and sending them off on their way to try to get those WoW/raiding PVE item stat locust whore *s (tell me how you really feel Fragg!)

There is a very manageable gear progression right now that allows PvP players to jump into the action with minimal effort.  PvP players realize that there *is* this gear progression but don't mind because its not a huge time sink.  Stop referencing CoD (because there *is* a gear progression there as well, you clueless nub) because it isn't helping your argument.  In fact, just to hammer home my point: BF3--gear progression, CoD--gear progression, LoL--stat/template progression.  You're making yourself look ridiculous.

This is simple:

1. PvP players want PvP gear that is the equivilant to dungeon gear (in looks and stats) that can be obtained via PvP.
2. Said gear needs to be in every available stat combination.
3. If you add new tiers of gear to PvE then you need to add a similar tier of gear to the PvP progression.
4. Stat differences between gear sets should be extremely minimal and not gamebreaking.

We do *not* want to run scripted carebear content in order to acquire gear.  We have a deep, real disdain for that content that isn't challenging.  We bought and continue to the play the game in order to test ourselves against other thinking opponents where the game plays differently each night that we log on and our strategies can (and will) be countered.

If you don't like our mentality, go play a pure PvE game.  Or, better yet, go run your scripted instances until the cows come home and get the hell out of the WvW forums.

Forget mats and badges, every one of those ascended infusions cost 50 skill points. Yes, we can level up from WvW, but the problem is excessive grind = better gear. In the future when ascended becomes available for all equipment types, we're gonna need several hundred skill points for a full set. It's going back to the old daunted "I play this game 24/7 and thus have significantly stronger gears than you do" system that almost none of us WvW'ers came here for =/.

Either A-net needs to completely make the stat difference negligible (which it is far from, because infusion itself has pvp-relevant stats bonuses) or they need to not cost 50 skill points (levels). If this is a easy cake grind it's fine. But grinding 50 levels for 1 gear is not easy. The amount of crit damage bonus is absolutely insane btw compared to exotic. 5 exotics give 30% more crit damage, 5 ascended gives 40% more crit damage. We haven't even stepped into the stage of ascended armor and weapons yet.

I suggest everyone not to get ascended + infusion too early on in case they make balance patches on how these are made. A-net already has a reputation for lack of compensation so you probably won't get refunded for wasted mats.

Did that seriously go over your head? Wow..

GW2 doesn't need stat progression. They could of just made a new set to grind with infusion slots where they offer +x% damage in pve or -y% damage taken in pve. Would of given pve players their carrot while doing nothing to unbalance pvp players.

Have you never played an mmo before and seen how dumb and damaging it is to make gear progression in only one aspect of the game? In every game where pve gear is better for pvp there are complaints, and in every game with a pvp stat you see pve players wanting it removed because they can't compete or have the time to acquire sets to do both. It never works and no one is ever happy.

Maybe I'm short sighted or something, maybe I have no clue, but imo I just don't see why a person who rarely focuses on pvp should have an advantage over pure pvpers and vice versa.

I look forward to your next dumb CoD statement.
