I would like to have some feedback on a warrior build, manly for wvw but also for PVE (in pvp I think I will go soon with hammer/greatsword).

I feel the necessity to equip a ranged weapon in wvw. I like very much the longbow, since it allows me to fill gap with running enemies or keep the distance during high populated battles. Moreover, the longbow is usefull to keep enemies away from walls.

However, it seems to me that hammer and longbow do not have high affinity on the traits, and I can not find a  good trait combination.

Other solution I am trying to find regards the possibility of using hammer/rifle, or hammer/something else, losing the possibility of having a ranged weapon in wvw.

What do you think is the best solution?
I appreciate your feedback!

I would use something like this for Hammer/rifle war: http://gw2skills.net...Nuak1sEZIyRknIA

I wouldnt really use Hammer/Longbow since they dont have any affinity at all. Basically in WvW you go 1) GS for noob hunting(The other weapon is optional) 2) Hammer/Rifle for control 3) SwordWarhorn/Rifle + Banners strictly for support, but its not over yet, the list can go on, and Longbow is very good in WvW, so there must be a build for it that hasnt been discovered yet. The cool thing about warriors is that they are extremely versatile and they have an high amount of possible builds.

This is what I think can work. The only thing I do not like is that I lose sweet revenge trait, Imo one of the best warrior trait!

That SHOULD be implemented in the ability itself.

It's not because it would turn what it is a pretty good downed state (interrupt, temporary rally) into a too strong one. Warriors would rarely lose a close 1v1 if that was the case as they could get up and rally their near death/already downed opponent.

IRT the OP: the Longbow, even untraited, isn't bad for WvW and you'll find it better than the rifle for keep/tower sieges due to the AoE.

I run a Hammer/Axe+WH build and swap to a Mace off-hand in big melees and a Longbow for keep sieges with lots of defenders.

I ran a Longbow/Greatsword build in PvE/WvW and am swapping more and more to a Longbow/Hammer build. The Greatsword is just not for me in WvW, I feel lost with it in smaller combats. Although it's my most beloved weapon skin I will try different things. The problem with Longbow is that it is of not such a great use without the range trait. Range 900 is often too deadly in sieges. My build for the Hammer would be sweeter without 10 points in Tactics. In open combat I find the Longbow a bit lacking compared to the rifle, except you are really good in placing the aoe. Longbow is not a pure condition weapon, it works really well with a power/precision build, so that's not the problem with the Hammer as a companion. What keeps me away from Rifle is that it does not fit my warrior style (a bit barbaric appearance). Otherwise I would choose Rifle for open combat and Longbow for sieges.

Hammer is excellent CC vs low level mobs and human opponents but I think you might find it's use a bit limited vs. many elites/champs/bosses inhabiting dungeons.  I certainly did.  I would suggest using just about any weapon *but* Hammer in PvE.  Perhaps fill that slot with Rifle/Longbow so you have a ranged option to compliment your Greatsword.

Longbow is excellent for fighting large mobs but for smaller battles it has comparatively(to Rifle) lower single-target DPS.  Not to mention Aimed Shot comes around a lot quicker than Pin Down when you need a snare .. and you might find it's slightly easier to finish off opponents with Kill Shot or Volley rather than anything the Longbow offers.  I tend to keep both around and swap accordingly but rarely trait for either.  Although, the extended Longbow range trait will help if you're invested in the Tactics line.  Remember you can just swap the trait in as easily as you might swap your Rifle out for the Longbow.

If you're spec'ing damage along with Hammer then yes, you will find that Longbow and Hammer do not mesh.  However, the Hammer doesn't pump damage like it did in GW1, thus people mainly use it along with Tactics(i.e. Healing Shouts) to provide support while acting as a stun bot and letting dedicated DPS clean up the mess.  Burning applied by the Longbow is fairly short duration(1-2 seconds) anyway, so the best Longbow trait is the extended range(900 -> 1200) which only requires a 10 point investment in the Tactics line.  So either way, you could make it work to your advantage.  Have fun.

My twink is lvl62 now and I did mainly PvE. While Hammer may seem like a weak weapon in PvE, I think it shines vs. a huge amount of enemies (5+) where damage isn't everything and it is essential that you can mitigate more damage. Especially when you use your passive healing (2nd minor trait in defense + healing signet), the AoE knockback (#4) comes in very handy as it gives you some seconds to heal up.
I personally run around with Axe/WH + Hammer in PvE. I don't think ranged is really an option (except maybe against certain bosses, but for 90% of PvE content while leveling, melee is way more effective). You can switch your off hand of course, but as Axe MH does the most damage anyway, I don't feel whrilwind is really worth it. I use WH simply to keep myself on perma swiftness which is really nice in PvE when doing map completion and the sort.
Vs. multiple enemies, you can always switch to hammer for some CC and switch back to Axe. For example, I often use Earthshaker with the Hammer, switch back to Axe and dish out heavy damage while mitigating everything that comes at me for 2 seconds. But most of the time, other weaponsets are better as damage is pretty much your only concern.

Thank you everyone for the advices, expecially Silent the legend, geala and Mootillay. I am going to test for some days an hammer/rifle build, maxing out burst damage, instead of power. I will be back after my trials ;)

I agree that hammer is not the best choice in pve, but I do not care too much, about that. The impossibility to knock down most of the bosses makes hammer useless. I usually switch to longbow then. But probably rifle can be better.

Hey man I really hate greatsword in warrios because it makes me fell just hundred blades and non-fingers to kill so I really hate this. At the moment I am using a build with rifle/hammer that works very nice you can apply alot of CC in the zerg and make a huge damage with the rifle. Longbow has a ugly range without the trait and I will not put 10 tatics to this trait so is not a good idea. Try hammer/rifle !
