If I would switch to any form of Ascended gear while using this build, what kind of stats would you recommend aiming for?

I haven't looked at all the ascended gear options yet but it would be roughly the same stat setup, and of course nothing with mf because it's a terrible stat and doesn't belong in an MMO.

Now that the Karkas event being over, have you considered using the Ancient Karka Shell as it provides more overall stats, or are they just wasted on this build? (http://www.gw2db.com...nt-karka-shell)

Yea I ended up getting a few of those, I'd much rather have more damage then things like 25 vit, 25 healing power, 25 condition, and 3% mf.

This group, which uses a greatsword warrior, seems to have runs faster than yours. Whether that's due to the GS or something else, i don't know.

Yep I've seen those, they're posted on the dungeon forums on gw2 official site. I actually asked him what his group runs in that thread (the stickied video thread) and he said they all run full berserker, has less to do with what their wars use for weapon.

Those videos are a good reference since they are from guardian perspective, if you watch the one's with my guardian whose using power/tough/vit armor instead he basically crits for like 750-1k less then their guardian but has like 4k more health. Basically the guardian build we use is more as a hedge for harder content which gives more survivability to take pressure of dps warriors who stay dps. But yes, full berserker with thf or another dps heavy class as 5th situational class can face roll alot of the easier paths where you almost never have a risk of dieing, not convinced GS is better on War simply from that though because I'm sure it wouldn't be any slower Axe/Mace and a PoV from Warrior perspective on GS would have been a good comparison.

But yes, I am aware there are faster speed runs and after hundreds of dungeon runs I'm sure I've done faster ones then the ones I've recorded, especially since some of the recorded one's aren't even with our dedicated 5 now. It's more as a referenced and walk through for how to run dungeons very quickly.

Absolutely loving playing Axe/Mace on my warrior alt! I tried it once before but left warrior and now being back I'm really enjoying it. I'm only 30 so far with different trait allocation for now(reason:low lvl)  but It's fantastic being able to throw on so many vuln stacks, the maneuverability, Tremor just rocks! I'm using a sword/warhorn off hand for the time being but carry my longbow for the rare champ that requires it at such a low lvl. Two thumbs up Strife, this is a great guide. Thanks!

PS: Bought almost a full set + weapons of my 80 exotics last night/today after the event bombed the prices :D All set! Now if I could just turn the Magmaton(Sweet looking hammer though, keeping this one) I received from the chest into the mace/axe pre-curser I would have been super happy lol.

I finally settled on something similar to this and I endorse it's logic. Greatsword is bad to the extent you'd probably be more useful sticking to a ranged option.

Not to hop on the bandwagon here, but I recently started working more hours and therefore decided to drop my other 3 80s and finalizing their gear in order to get 1 80 that was fully geared - because of this build (and generally the number of viable and varied builds for warriors), I chose the warrior. If you're good at dodging the big hits, this build never dies and puts out some pretty ridiculous damage. It's perfect for FoTM so far, though who knows past 19.

I have a question, assuming one will be pugging mostly in instances etc can one still use a build like this? I absolutely love playing it currently at 68 but I see people asking in map chat for shout/banner support warriors rather than non-glass dps warriors. This is obviously a finely tuned build for you and your teams needs where others do the healing/support mostly. Would you use a build such as this if you happened to pug for a day as well? Thanks!

Yea I've used it in pugs a couple times. Omnomberry pies/ghosts give a ton of survivability and dps classes in a group make things so much faster. As long as your good at dodging big moves it's still viable.

You said before in an earlier post on this thread that you don't really kite mobs around. How does this build work in Fractals at the higher levels without the kiting? It seems like you could get killed really easily if you ran the fractals the same way you run your regular em dungeons.

just a question,it is real worth it spend the 10 point plus in tactics for 10% boon duration and the damage boost with your boon instead that going 30 in strength with 10%critical damage with axe and +power/damage ?

Really big fan of AXE/x builds (like this one) over GS for that mobility alone - extremely underrated in high level FoTM's where being still = dead.

I think people need to realise how versatile it can be based on your group composition though. I'm finding I prefer to run 30 tactics alot espec if a guardian isn't around and running:
- Banner regeneration if its a melee centric group and we dont have regen
- Healing shouts and drop the banner traits (espec in ranged groups + high movement bosses)

Thanks for this post. I did not get far with a warrior because I thought GS was the only good choice. axe/mace is way more fun for me and has renewed my interest in the warrior.

Interesting build, and a viable option for me once I hit level 80. Gave you 5 so that hopefully more people see this thread. I just cannot seem to decided to chose your build or Sonic Boom ( http://www.guildwars...out-greatsword/ ). Would be great if you could point out some of they key differences between these 2 builds.

Stupid question, but how exactly do you get zerker jewels in knight rings? There are no unsocketed knight rings that you can find (as far as I know) and you can't transmute rings.
So share your secret. How du you do it?

I'm running Sonic Boom and just change the weapons for dungeons. Works fine since the main point of the Axe/Mace is the vulnerability you get from the Axe/Mace skills.

You just double click it into knight's ring

It's Sonic Boon gaiz D: Not Sonic Boom
Also you get lots more Vulnerability from Sonic Boon, fun fact.

I have to say I'm very impressed with this build and really underestimated the usefulness of mace. Just roaming around cursed shore I'm killing about as fast as greatsword and i'm not losing any health whatsoever. I'm not quite sure how mace 5 removes defiant stacks but i'll take your word for it. This is way better then going rifle/greatsword and going down the Defense tree for some toughness.

... is the best DPS build for dungeons. This is a build specific for dungeons, not for WvW or solo play.

Sorry this is probably a stupid question but, why is this build not good for solo pve? Is it recharge times or something else?

I think he meant its not tailored specifically for solo play. It's not bad for solo at all

Awesome thank you.

I just really liked the look of this build and wanted to give it a try but, I have limited funds so, I didn't want to put a ton of money into another armor set if it would only work well for one specific thing.

Of course I guess I could just do Rare armor to give it a try before getting exotic.

Anyway thanks again to the OP for posting this build !!

I use it solo in Cursed all the time. It might not be 100% optimal but it's completely excellent. Personally I just love axe and mace. I could give a rats arse how good any GS build is, it's so overused and I already use it on my guardian lol. No thanks!

PS: one thing of note that I NEVER see mentioned as an advantage to Axe/Mace(or any multi weapon setup) is 2 weapon sigils. +5% crit in one and then you can have Fire blast/Condition removal/Boon(on boss) removal/more vulnerability stacks. I love it! You do not need to keep the sigil of perception weapon equipped as you can just have a second in your backpack and swap it out @ 25 stacks.

I find Axe/Axe and Sword/Axe to be better for solo PvE. They have the most AoE.

If you're after aoe, you're looking for longbow. Axe offhand is worthless.
