I asked a question asking whether world population meters include people that were logged out on the official forums.

The thread resulted in 20 or so replies.

https://forum-en.gui...ple-logged-out/

I wish I saved a screenshot, but I did not expect it to get deleted, and the cache was wiped with a "perma link not found" page when I refreshed.

The thread was deleted without a trace and so far I have not received any infractions or even a PM. Maybe someone here at guru was there and can testify.

Is ArenaNet trying to cover this up?

They would have started an investigation had you posted shirtless pictures of yourself, but for right now the watchwords are: plausible deniability.

Aluminum hat time folks, let the conspiracy theories fly wild.

Seriously, just pm a mod and ask why the thread was closed.

I pmed a mod and have not received a response.

Usually if they find a thread disagreeable they would just lock it instead and provide the reason why they locked.

It is really suspicious that they just deleted it outright and did not even provide me with a reason or an infraction.

If you are interested in the truth maybe someone else can make their own post there asking the question.

It isn't a repost.

That question was:

Quote

Does ANet go by the number of people CURRENTLY on said server, or by the number of accounts MADE on said server.

The CC never explicitly said if she included people that were logged off. She answered the easy question of do people who transfer off get counted in their server's old population? The answer was obviously no.

I was going to withhold this and ask for theories as to what motivation they'd have to suppress this info. After all, someone who'd jump to the conclusion that it's a coverup has got to have a vivid imagination. But then I figured I'd post this, make the question look ridiculous and leave it at that.

But isn't this part

Quote

Connor, when you see a server FULL means that it is full from people actually playing there at the moment, independently of where did they create their accounts. For example, if a player creates an account in Vizunah Square and then moves to Baruch Bay, then all the characters of this player will go to Baruch Bay and he will be counted among the total amount of players of Baruch.

In answer to the OP, perhaps it is because there are already several threads discussing the issue. I seem to remember seeing a few on the official forums.

answering your question?

No it does not answer the question because she is addressing a completely different question.

She does not explicitly say that the people that are playing there at the moment are people that are actually logged in instead of just people that transferred to the server as per the original question.

That's why she says For example, if a player creates an account in Vizunah Square and then moves to Baruch Bay, then all the characters of this player will go to Baruch Bay and he will be counted among the total amount of players of Baruch.

You don't think she means that all the characters of a player could be logged in at the same time do you?

If this thread was just a dupe they would have either locked it and said so or sent me an infraction. As of now I have not received an infraction nor a pm.

This rarely works anywhere. It doesn't even work on Guru. Trust me I've tried.

I don't think he's trying to make it a conspiracy theory, I think he just wants his damn question answered. I don't blame him.

But, let's be honest, would it be the first time a game padded their servers to keep morale up?

There are servers that are consistently full at peak times and not full at off-peak times. So to be clear, the possibility is that people are consistently transferring off the server at off-peak times, and transferring back on during peak times? And this would be different people, obviously, since there's limits to transfers.

Not sure. On dragonbrand, the server is always empty whenever I play. LA is dead, low levels dead, and a small, token-group in Orr. Yet the server is consistently full. I never understood it, we could have used some new blood, too, but we were always full.

This isn't really the place to discuss this. I doubt there is some conspiracy of somthing so mundane. It is likely that a mod thought it was close enough to be a repost or something. PM them.

Oh.
@obise

That statement is false. PMing a mod here should always result in a response. I would expect that any reputable forum's moderation staff would respond to a PM if possible. It may take time, as we are not here 24/7, but a response will occur. If it doesn't contact a supermod or admin.

Little Mabel won't be able to be here it's our worst fear. She's busy working on her garden that she's growing up in space.

Why hello there forumite. Would you like me to review some moderation you did not agree with? Never fear! PM is here! Want to be a better poster? Check on this link! And this one!
