Here's the longbow\shortbow build I'm currently using (not the strongest one but I quite like it)

Since I use a lot of traps I was  thinking about taking 10 points from Wilderness survival to put into Skirmishing, in order to replace Hide in plain sight with Trap potency. Would that be a good idea? I  read that there are diverging opinions concerning the utility of Hide in plain sight so I'm very unsure whether or not I should keep that trait. Any other hints on my build will be appreciated

Even if I'm using both bows? Quick draw really makes a difference. Should I also consider giving up Sharpening stone for another trap?

If you're planning on using two traps as your slot skills, then go the full 30 points into Skirmishing to get both Trapper's Expertise and Trapper's Knowledge.  If you don't want to invest this much into Skirmishing, then I would really discourage using a trap as a slot skill.

As for Hide in Plain Sight, I honestly think that it's something that shines more in PvP than in PvE.  The nice thing about PvE is that you can easily know beforehand what you need.  If you're running a dungeon and are getting to some trash mobs or a boss that knocks down, you can quickly swap in Lightning Reflexes or change to Hide in Plain Sight (assuming you have enough in skirmishing invested already) and then change it back after.

If you're mostly just farming events or something like that, then taking abilities like Trapper's Knowledge/Expertise and Piercing Arrows is way more invaluable than any defensive abilities since they let you tag more mobs, so it really boils down to what you plan on doing.

I agree with you and I decided to place 30 points into Skirmishing since i play mainly PVE.
My problem is now that since i'm using both the shortbow and the longbow, I can't really decide between quick draw and trapper's expertise: I've tried them both and both are great traits in my opinion

Well, I used HiPS with great success in PvE, especially in dungeons. The few seconds of stealth effectively drop all your aggro, making mobs instantly lose all interest in you. It's great trait.

If you're using traps, you won't get as much benefit from quick draw since you're likely to have a trap being cast when your bow skill comes off cooldown and if you're waiting to use your bow skill, then there's no benefit to having it off cooldown earlier.  This is even more true if you're using both bows since the cooldown of the skills on one bow don't matter when you swap to the other bow to use abilities that are ready to use.

I've been thinking about this too and I came to your same conclusions. So here's what my build looks like now:

Should be a bit better than before. More suggestions are welcome

You also get hunter's tactics.

10% damage extra for flanking.

And makes your traps better

For...a stealth. That's situational.

This is a no brainer, get it!

Solid build.  I run the same, except I take 10 out of marks to put in BM and I use an axe/warhorn instead of a longbow as my weapon swap.
