I have the full set and Im a sylvari with green skin.  This armor set ALWAYS has this green color to it similar to my skin color, regardless of what i dye it. I can dye it red for example, but this one pattern to it remains green.

Ive reported this as a bug cause its very frustrating. I have seen other human characters wearing this armor and the green is not there for them. It looks like they can dye it whatever color they want to.  Im wondering if this really is a bug or is it only for sylvari who get screwed on it?

The green that is visible is not my characters skin, because the armor itself covers my whole body.


Ive put this in as a bug weeks ago but never had a response nor had it fixed. Any other SYLVARI out there with green skin that can dye the armor and get rid of the green?

It's not a bug, it's working as intended. Sylvari with plant-like armor (cultural/TA) will have an effect that makes it seem like it's growing out of them... You know, how you'd think a plant would have leafy/woody/flowery armor. Those parts actually grow out of them.

Wait what? Post a screen shot. I'm a black sylvari and I can dye it whatever I want, but there are certain smudges of black on it that I always assumed was black because that's how the armor was.

I wonder what color those areas are for other races, then.

It doesn't affect other races, only for sylvari. For example

My sylvari, white skin with T1 cultural light:


Sylvari NPC, reddish skin, same armor:


It might be kind of hard to see but parts of the armor are grey on my sylvari, but a dark-reddish colour on the NPC.

The reason is because Kristen Perry (one of the people who designed/redesigned the Sylvari) wanted to really make them feel like plants, and truly integrate the feeling of plant armor. Ie, having it look like the armor is almost grown from their body. This is why there's that 'bleed' effect in Sylvari styled armor when a sylvari wears it.

The light TA armor also has a glow on my friend's sylvari that I have never seen on other races in the same armor.

The glow is available on any race (at least it should be, it might be easier to see depending on dye colours/size of the armor), just not the skin colour bleeding. My guildy has the TA light armor chestpiece and you can see the spots on the arms glowing like the normal sylvari glow, where it fades in and out, human female character.

I've also got the heavy TA armor on my sylvari and I don't like the green effect either, but when you use a dark color like black it doesn't really matter though. But then again, I bought a black dye, and when I try to use it on the TA armor, certain parts become undyed(brown), I think that's a bug.

This is due to the bleeding Valkaire describes, it is very obvious with the tier 2 racial (look at the petals coming out of the back)

So the black parts of that armor is green for you? Huh, good to know if I were to make another sylvari in the future. And if a human wears that, it'd just be all white in this case?

If a human, asura, norn or charr wears it then yes, there won't be any skin-bleeding to affect the colours. Of the images below, the first one is a sylvari with red skin, the second is a human with the same dyes. (A bit clearer of a comparison than my earlier pictures xD)
