Hi all,

Hit level 80 today and completed a couple of the 75+ zones 100% too. Yes, long day.

I'm now looking at the best way to get the "best" armor - stats-wise. I know I want to use the Duelist skin, of which I have got the coat and leggings for (level 78 reward for 100% area in Orr). I also want to use my starter hood skin for the head.

Preferably I'd like Beserker equivalent armours - Nika's exotic seems to be the one for level 80's? I can't afford all Nika's set from the TP, since I have only 22g, but I could get 2 or 3 pieces. Say for example I bought Nika's mask + shoulders + coat, could I transmute my starter hood to the mask, a duelist shoulder skin to the shoulders and my duelist coat skin to the coat? I think that's possible...!

Next question - could I then buy 3 pieces of Karma armor for the legs, gloves and boots and transmute duelist skins on to them? Is there a Beserker equivalent for Karma armor? I have ~120k Karma saved.

In short my question is - would it be a good idea to buy 3 pieces of Nika's armor, and 3 Karma armor pieces, then transmute my preferred skin over all 6? Am I missing the point of Karma armor?

With the news of ascended items (and it being added for armors in the future), I'll personally go for the cheapest exotics you can find since you'll likely be upgrading them to ascended armors in the future.To answer your question though, yes you can transmute skins over from item to item, though you'll need the lvl80 transmutation stones for them.And I don't believe there are berserker stat'ed karma armors around.

You can save yourself alot of gold/karma by doing some dungeons on explorable(Citadel of flames comes to mind) which will earn you a decent pile of cash with awsome skins.

Or save time and gold and just go with the cheap lvl 78 exotics found on the TP, they use the Duelist skin so you don't need to transmute, and the stat differences to the lvl 80 ones are pretty much unnoticeable in regular play (might have to change runes though according to your preference). And for the hood you can use the common transmutation stones if you stick with those armors so you don't have to get Fine transmutation stones with gems etc.

Dungeons are something I want to get into for sure.

Perhaps for now I should buy the rest of the lv78 Duelist set and then transmute later when I have level 80 exotic armor with appropriate stats?

We can't decide for you what to do. The method you posted is sound though. You can craft the armor with the stats you want for karma and transmute that with the lvl 78 Duelist armor.

As Arduin says, however...

You mention about Nika's Armour for Berserker's stats? I wonder why you want these specifically? They have the same skin and stats as level 80 crafted exotics but are a lot more expensive, so I'd stick with those if you choose to buy level 80 stuff for the stats.

The "named" armors (Nika's, Devona's, Zhed's, etc.) are all quite pointless as neither the skin nor the stats are particularly unique as far as I know. Nika's armor has Berserker's stats, so just buy Berserker's exotic crafted armor for probably 1.5-2.5g per piece and transmute that instead.

I haven't done any crafting, that's why I was looking at buying. I've gone ahead with the 78 exotics for now, only came to 6g including some daggers - and I needed/wanted the skins anyway.

Looks like I need to get some crafting under my belt...

Keep in mind that going full damage (berserker gear) in dungeons isn't such a good idea. A lof of (even trash) mobs do insane damage so you may want to get some extra hp/toughness as well. I crafted a full set of Superior Soldier runes for my warrior (who has a mixed berserker set) to increase survivability in dungeons, it's a lot different than levelling.

The Orr temple vendors have some decent stats (it's different depending on what temple).
And you can also opt to get some dungeon gear, they're not that hard to get; 3+ runs per piece (chest and legs require more tokens, weapons a lot more) and some dungeons also offer berserker gear.
