I do wish shadowstep was really a teleport - at least as functional as the engineer jumpshot.  The fact that you can't teleport to something you can't walk to is sad and makes it much less predictably useful.

Sigh.

Last night I gave up on trying to solo my way to the Dostoev Sky Peak vista:

- Fighting often multiple mobs

- …who are immune to blind-    Fighting often multiple mobs

-    …who are immune to blind (my only cc)
-    …On catwalks and bridges very high up
-    …with very fast respawns.

I nearly made it several times, but I would keep dying because all my main attacks involve me jumping/moving, and even though I waiting until a ‘safe’ moment to do so, the mob would then suddenly move/warp to a place where it wasn’t, and I couldn’t cancel the attack…and whoooooooo I’d fall 50’.

I think he means true teleport as in not-blocked-by-obstacles-or-ledges-etc. Thinking Mesmer's phase retreat that will pop you up onto walls/cliff/etc.

Also, for that particular vista, stealth is your friend.

Just give up on the thief; it is a broken profession and there is nothing it can do that some other profession can't do better. It will hurt at first, I know from when I abandoned and rerolled from my level 53 thief, but it passes and you look back at your time with the thief and wonder what you were doing with it in the first place.

you do know that mesmers blink / phase retreat is as *ed as shadow step is right?   they work exactly the same (even if the wiki says they dont)

They are all supposed to work the same.  Only the jump/leap abilities are supposed to get you somewhere you can't reach without jumping.  All teleport are supposed to be ground target even though mesmers doesn't work that way...It will frequently port you up a cliff.

I just want steal to be fixed so you cant steal INTO an object and get stuck in there then have to teleport out again...

I didn't realize that the Mesmer teleports were broken--thanks for that. I do know, however, that they don't work the same as any of the thief's shadowstep abilities in practice. But that's just from all the times Phase retreat has jumped me to the top of a cliff, building, into a wall, etc.

Missing my point.
I'm saying I wish it was like "teleport" as generally envisioned in fantasy/science fiction - ie one moment you're here, one you're there WITHOUT having to be able to trace a route on the ground - ie up to a ledge, across a gap, etc. (cf guild wars 2 "leap").

Can someone please tell me when these bridges come down on the Dostoev Sky Peak Vista? also where are you suppose to go to get that Vista? all the You Tube Videos suck when it comes to where you have to go to accomplish this Vista.  Other times your not far but the bridge is up my question is when does it come down or can you as a player cause it to come down if so how?

Just kill stuff/stealth through instead of trying to cheat through using a blink skill. All thief attacks don't involve movement so you ought not to be falling off. S/P, gogo pistol whip spam.

My thief is the only char I have with 100% completion, and I can't remember any vistas which gave me trouble.
