Their art is by Hyung-Tae Kim who also worked on Magna Carta, its very unique and stylized with a crisp quality. I think this game looks neat, but I'm no where near sold on it. Apparently its in closed beta, what do you guys think of it?

Can't really say much from trailers though.. playing = believing, in my opinion you cant base your opinion on a game using a trailer, besides the graphics that is.

That's interesting.... seeing how it's not supposed to come out until 2011.
Some ammo for the "GW2 in 2010" crowd perhaps? (the idea being that if Blade and Soul is already in closed beta, than maybe GW2 is too, and maybe the schedule announced by the CFO during the investor call is wrong... that's a lot of maybes).
Any confirmation they are in closed beta? All I could find was news from February, 2009.

It will be f2p iirc, yeah.
You might want to try C9 too. It's totally f2p in Korea.

Of course, if it comes out the same time as GW2, it will be toast.
Which makes me wonder: Blade and Soul in 2010, GW2 in 2011?

I am very interested to see how they carry their fighting game mechanic in an MMO setting. More than likely, this game will occupy my time before Guild Wars 2.

That looks to be the worst form of CC I've ever seen, and I can't even begin to count the number of terrible things I'd rather happen to me than have something like that in my game.

How do you even know if its a form of CC though? Personally I don't know zilch about this game, I see nothing wrong with trying to appreciate what they're trying to achieve. For all we know the female player being beat on could be action-less for the point of demonstrating the other class's attacks, thus not engaging in any counter maneuvers or evasive tactics?
Any MMO that isn't a standard WoW clone with a feather in it's hat is trying for something that others aren't. That is how I see it.

I have a comment on this one. Imho:
Original and never seen before game =|= Good game
Clone =|= Bad game
Hell, i know a lot of clones that are actually very good games, and some are even better than the originals which thay cloned...
Excellent Clones :
Torchlight (Diablo 2), Project Earth (Homeworld), Disciples (HoM&M), Star Wars Battlefront (Battlefield), SW Galactic Battlegrounds (Age of Kings)...
And tbh this game, really doesnt look very original... Art design is typical for Korean MMOs and combat style can be seen in any wuxia/martial arts online game. Only new thing that i can see here are a lot better graphics than usual...

Its a K.MMO, so I won't comment on how the game play might be... but it is one of the best looking MMO out there (in term of styling, animation, etc)
What you think?

What I really noticed is that lighting effects (even quite basic ones) and focusing/blurring can really improve the visual splendour of a game. For example Crysis, a lot of the things in game (without anti-aliasing) did look quite harsh on a lot of other things but with the focusing blur it helped blend things together and really complimented the lighting effects. Maybe GW2 could learn a couple things for us higher end PC users.
But there are so many atmospherical features in this game the art has been beautifully done. I love the twisted trees, the fog in the distance, the feeling that you are surrounded by a forest full of things trying to kill you. I know a lot of people say "GW2 should be completely independent and different from the rest" but if you look at it closely it's the lighting, shadowing and particle effects that make this game look as stunning as it does. Oh and the water is also very nice, good job NC. So ANet, *nudge nudge

As for the visuals: The environments are about on a par with something like Dragon Age, but not quite as polished looking. Not that impressive, to be honest. That hardly surprises me, as the art team appears to have spent a lot more time elsewhere...
The characters are an absolute abomination. I can't possibly express how much I disdain that over-sexualised anime style. Why would I want to play a game that markets its self towards the most primitive and immature gamer? I suppose in technical terms they look decent enough. The models are detailed, the animations are passable.
The art style? A complete sell out. Nothing more than the most clichéd, pathetic attempt to hit the market of teenager males. Zero originality, zero appeal to me.

Now I agree with the anime style issue, but it's a style choice, it doesn't mean that it's bad artwork.
However unlike you I can't stand clipping issues, it's lazy design, and that trailer has about 1 for every character movement.
