5v5 hot join maps
More lenient rewards with regards to the paid tournaments, as well as a chance to win gems regardless of your performance.
So what are you opinions?
Personally Id say its a fairly good step in the right direction. This should at least encourage the more casual playerbase to get involved. Sure we need more game modes but that will take a bit longer, but for now this makes me fairly happy.

As for balance changes, i'm not sure... will play tonight to get a better feel for things. Re thief bs burst the 33% on CnD doesnt seem like much, maybe 1000 dmg? I dunno. Imo it is the speed of the combo with the precast CnD which is the problem. ah well.
Dancing dagger 50% ! Okay then. Shortbow 2 clusterbomb 15% prolly fair enough.

"The hit area for the trebuchet in the Battle of Kyhlo has been updated to prevent players from dropping massive AoE attacks (e.g. Meteor Shower) and having every single attack hit the trebuchet, destroying it without any counter. All normal attacks should still work against it."
They do this but don't address respawn timers for repair kits. Do they not have any idea how much the treb will affect this map now.
Im fine with now sending more single target dps to take down the treb instead of icebow ele's or ele's in general. But now you have that much more time investment with a single target to get on the treb down, only for a mes to instantly repair it.
That's not balanced at all the amount of effort put in to getting rid of the treb vs how quickly they can just repair it.
As far as Bunker they didn't address perma Vigor on Engi or Staff Ele Mist Form.
They addressed protection stacking SLIGHTLY with a nerf of 1s on protection through shield #4 and one of the many block bugs but haven't at all addressed the heal stacks with symbols.

Just curious, is there something especially problematic with Mist Form on the bunker Ele that's still going to be an issue after the other nerfs the spec took this patch? Evasive Arcana doesn't provide blast finishers anymore and Healing Ripple got its effectiveness slashed, so the spec has already taken a few very nasty hits. On top of that, Vapor Form can't contest points anymore, and Mist Form still doesn't work with Cantrip Mastery, despite what the notes say. Most Eles (at this early stage, at least) seem convinced that the spec is done in competitive play.
I do agree about being underwhelmed by the notes in general. This was not the grand act of balancing everyone had hoped, though I do like most of the changes to PvP as a mode, particularly 5v5 Hotjoin.

5v5 hotjoins, /rank, better tournament rewards... Personally I'd say that's all stuff that should've been in in the first place.
Profession changes are lacking, more stuff is broken (stuck at loading screen, achievement points missing, etc.), features like observation mode are still missing.
I question Arenanet's priorities. With the added PvE content and free trial event, they seem to be more focused on drawing in new players than addressing the issues and concerns of their existing customers.

I don't even regard meteor as a threat. At least not with a portal mesmer. I'd take a staff ele over a SD or DD ele any day when I'm mesmer. Instant repair on treb anyways =/
Especially with 2 mesmers, gs mesmer teleports to treb to support treb mesmer, there's no contest.

That's because a new player = $60. We = a good bit less than that I imagine. Especially since the new player may also use the cash shop.

Happy customers = more word-of-mouth GW2 sales + less refunds + more returning cash shop purchases

2) 5v5 sPvP is awesome. One thing plagues it though: putting it at the bottom of the server lists. >_< WHY ARENANET WHY..........
3) More balance changes are needed. Bunkers are still stupid strong. Necros are still stupid weak. Eles and Rangers seem a little better, though.

Yes it does. The current exchange rate makes it completely pointless to buy gems with real money. I'm willing to bet that at least 90% of cash shop purchases are made with in-game gold (that was converted to gems). That's a flawed business model.
If you want people to buy from your cash shop, don't let them use in-game currency, and if you do, then at least make the exchange rate high enough that it makes people consider using real money.

Necros are definitely not stupid weak. Once you learn when to pop your marks, fear, keep condis up, etc. you will find them to be a brutal aoe damage/debuff class. Especially for glory pub farming, I think they come second only to trappers..

I don't know. I have the feeling more and more people are looking for more than just killing everybody at sight. That means that the level of the game has increased. It may still look zerg-fest to a player used to tPvP, but for casual players like myself, there is an improvement.
It would be great if the "play now" option actually worked and didn't send you to a 1vs1 map between friends...
I haven't played much since the patch (thanks to the "i get stuck on the loading screen forever") and didn't go through the whole patch list, so i didn't even notice the 5vs5 sPvP! Good news :-)

No Gems to gold = people only buy gems for what they want from the cash-shop.
Gems for gold = people buy gems for what they want + they buy gems to sell those to get gold.
Easy to see what brings the most revenue to Anet.

Euhm did you forget that the gems that people buy with gold are still bought with cash in the first place??

Ah, that makes sense. I thought you could flat out buy gems from the cash shop with in-game gold.
