Good news! They did go for a numbers nerf in the form of nerfing the boon duration runes. Sure, I assume many (some/few/two) builds used heavy boon stacking like elementalists, but it was pretty clear we were the ones being aimed at.

Finally they managed to * up a nerf for a change:), lets see if it takes them another 3 months to fix this.

Get more toughness... oh wait...

This took about the same amount of time it took me to dodge roll, switch to water, use my heal and dagger 5 heal.
Thieves were nerfed pretty hard.
*edit : 27,626 damage in a little under 3 seconds against a target with 3,359 armor. Seems balanced, right?
And yes, this was in sPvP, not WvW with +110% crit damage and food.

I'm not saying that they are weak, nor am i saying that they are not good a spicking you down anymore. But if you open your mind a little bit, they are now closer to the other roamers in terms of general usefullness in a tournament pvp scenario.
If you want to learn how to deal with them, 1st lesson is to dodge when you hear the first strikes, since you will not be able to see him instantly. 2nd lesson is to stun him and counterdamage. Thiefs are generally pretty weak, and if you can just turn around, stun and put a few hits into him, he has to go defensiv and use his heal, giving you some breathing room to use heals, regen endurance and preparing for his next opener. If you just try to heal up and stay defensiv he can keep putting his high damage autoattacks with full glasscannon build into you without any fear of dying, which will lead to your death. If you have any aoe abilities like bombs or fields just use them and stand im them. If he switches to shortbow dont run up to him, as you will get destroyed if you dont prepare properly. If you are good, keep track of his initiative usage and engage when he used it up. dont stand close to your allies if possible to avoid bouncing shortbow attacks.
tldr: l2p
edit: couldn't resist

I would like to see you go offensive against a thief auto attacking you for 1,400 to almost 3k damage 8 times per second instead of healing in a build that needs to stack burning and bleeding to deal burst damage. Please post the video.

Give us back Evasive Arcana at least....This trait is now worthless, sadly, because it was so much fun to play. So how does this patching at ANET works? One might think you don't care about overall balance of the game...

Sounds like you failed to dodge even once, get even a single hit in, or cast any defensive spells. If you were D/D ele, you should have used Shocking aura and/or frost aura. If you were staff spec, you should have used frozen ground. In any pvp cenario, you should have been running mist form. None of these skills have to even target the theif. There are plenty of other skills that you can use. 2 second knock downs, aoe cripples, you have all the tools you need. This theif only used 9 initiative by my count. Max hit was 4.5k. That's not even enough to hurt my feelings. 2.5k heartseeker? haha. As a theif, i lol at glass theifs and tank them all the time. Not with stealth, but evades and heals. As an ele, you have far more options to work with. If you can't come up with something better to do in the amount of time it takes a theif to go through 2 auto attack chains in a row besides "dodge roll, switch to water, use my heal and dagger 5 heal", then you might be playing the wrong game.

Two auto attack chains with quickness is a little over a second, if that.
Your post comes across as more than a little bit stupid when you say it sounds like I didn't even dodge roll after quoting me saying I dodged, and then repeated at the end of your post that I dodged.
As far as abilities that I could have used:
Earthquake - 1 second cast before the knockdown and you can not move while casting. I would have died before I got the spell off.
Air skills - locked out of them for several more seconds because, unlike thieves, we have cooldowns.
Mist form - He attacked me as I finished mist form stomping a warrior and we have cooldowns.
Next time, I'll be sure to play GW2 in your fantasy universe where I always have every ability up and full energy so that I don't take 30k damage in less than 3 seconds despite having 3,359 armor.
Hell, the official forums blew up over an ele doing 23k damage to a glass cannon with <2k armor in 3 seconds to the point the eles were worried about being nerfed. Thieves can do MORE damage in LESS time to a target with 75% more armor and their answer is "lol l2p newb!"

Never said you failed to dodge roll. Just said you failed to dodge. And you're mad that he killed you because he had quickness? Maybe you should have saved that mist form for the thief. Basically from what I'm reading here you got ganked after you blew all your cooldowns. After you blew all your cooldowns. You blew all your cooldowns. your cooldowns. all of them. Next time, save some cooldowns.
