Ele was the only profession that could hold my interest. Not any longer. This game is dead for me (and I guess for a lot of other pvpers too).
As much as I'd hate to agree with you on this I wholeheartedly agree.
Without Evasive Arcana there is no Elementalist. And Without Elementalist there is no GW2 for me.

Well Lets see:
  • Ride the Lightning: This skill should now track moving enemies more reliably.- STILL GETS STUCK. NOT FIXED.
  • Magnetic Grasp: This skill should now track moving enemies more reliably and end correctly when you reach your target.- DON'T NOTICE CHANGE
  • Evasive Arcana: This trait no longer creates unintended blast finishers.- MAJOR NERF
  • Ether Renewal: This skill’s cast time has been reduced from 4.75 to 3.5 seconds. There is no change to the total amount of healing.- BUFF
  • Healing Rain: This skill’s tooltip now states the correct duration of 6 seconds.- LAME
  • Armor of Earth: This skill’s tooltip now states the correct duration of 6 seconds.- LAME
  • Churning Earth: This skill’s description no longer references “hold and release.”- FIX
  • Signets of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water: These skills should now have a cast animation while wielding a Fiery Greatsword.- FIX
  • Ring of Fire: This skill on Conjure Flame now lists itself as a Fire combo field.- FIX
  • Dragon’s Tooth: The blast finisher for this skill now triggers at the spell location rather than the character’s location.- BROKEN
  • Magnetic Wave: This skill’s missile-reflect portion now has an accompanying icon.- FIX
  • Phoenix: This skill’s tooltip now states the correct duration of 5 seconds of vigor that this skill applies.- LAME
  • Blasting Staff and Geomancer’s Alacrity: These traits now work together for the Eruption skill.- FIX
  • Mist Form: This skill now works with the Water Magic trait Cantrip Mastery.- BROKEN
  • Soothing Wave: This skill now properly applies regeneration to the elementalist when using Conjure Frost rather than only when the bow is picked up.- FIX
  • Healing Ripple: This skill’s scaling with healing power has been reduced by 50% in PvP only, as it had scaling that’s normally reserved for main healing skills. The maximum number of targets has also been reduced from infinite to 5.- MAJOR NERF
  • Obsidian Focus: This Earth Magic trait now grants toughness when channeling the Stone Shards skill.- DONT NOTICE
  • Ice Spike: This skill’s tooltip now states the correct amount of vulnerability when traited.- FIX
  • Conjure Frost Bow’s Deep Freeze: This skill now applies 1 second of chill per pulse, preventing extreme stacking of chill on a target.- MAJOR NERF
  • Conjure Frost Bow’s Ice Storm: This skill now applies 5 seconds of bleeding per hit instead of confusion.- MAJOR NERF
  • Tidal Wave: This skill’s responsiveness has been improved.- DON'T NOTICE
  • Tornado: Leaving this elite skill now removes the stability it grants in order to make it consistent with other elite transformation abilities.- MAJOR NERF
  • Vapor Form: Fixed a bug that allowed this skill to contest a capture point.- NERF/FIX
  • Flame Axe: This weapon now grants the wielder power and condition damage.- DON'T NOTICE
  • Frost Bow: This weapon now grants the wielder increased condition duration and increased healing power.- DON'T NOTICE
  • Fiery Greatsword: This weapon now grants the wielder power and condition damage.- DONT NOTICE
  • Magnetic Shield: This weapon now grants the wielder vitality and toughness.- DON'T NOTICE
  • Lightning Hammer: This weapon now grants the wielder increased precision and critical damage.- DON'T NOTICE
Well, looks like a bunch of fixes we won't notice, some abilities still broken after the 'fix' and a few MAJOR NERFS.

Sounds about right for the Ele.

enjoy.

Good news!  They did go for a numbers nerf in the form of nerfing the boon duration runes.  Sure, I assume many (some/few/two) builds used heavy boon stacking like elementalists, but it was pretty clear we were the ones being aimed at.

I think the healing ripple is actualy still the same, it healed me for 2400 before and it still does now.
Finally they managed to * up a nerf for a change:), lets see if it takes them another 3 months to fix this.

well they never said they nerf it to 50%healing.They just nerfed the scaling.Which means that if you are not invested heavily on healing power then you probably wont notice it

...I cant live without evasive arcana...what a slap on the face that was

Really? Damn myself and 4 others got wiped out by 1 thief in a matter of a few minutes last night.

How does one go about dealing with them?.

This took about the same amount of time it took me to dodge roll, switch to water, use my heal and dagger 5 heal.

Thieves were nerfed pretty hard.

*edit : 27,626 damage in a little under 3 seconds against a target with 3,359 armor. Seems balanced, right?

And yes, this was in sPvP, not WvW with +110% crit damage and food.

the fact that thiefs can still kill people very fast that like to tank every single strike they do is still true, but that doesnt change the fact that their AoE presence was nerfed considerably.

I'm not saying that they are weak, nor am i saying that they are not good a spicking you down anymore. But if you open your mind a little bit, they are now closer to the other roamers in terms of general usefullness in a tournament pvp scenario.

If you want to learn how to deal with them, 1st lesson is to dodge when you hear the first strikes, since you will not be able to see him instantly. 2nd lesson is to stun him and counterdamage. Thiefs are generally pretty weak, and if you can just turn around, stun and put a few hits into him, he has to go defensiv and use his heal, giving you some breathing room to use heals, regen endurance and preparing for his next opener. If you just try to heal up and stay defensiv he can keep putting his high damage autoattacks with full glasscannon build into you without any fear of dying, which will lead to your death. If you have any aoe abilities like bombs or fields just use them and stand im them. If he switches to shortbow dont run up to him, as you will get destroyed if you dont prepare properly. If you are good, keep track of his initiative usage and engage when he used it up. dont stand close to your allies if possible to avoid bouncing shortbow attacks.

tldr: l2p

edit: couldn't resist

I'll be sure to play in your fantasy universe where there are no cooldowns and my abilities are always available the next time I log in.

I would like to see you go offensive against a thief auto attacking you for 1,400 to almost 3k damage 8 times per second instead of healing in a build that needs to stack burning and bleeding to deal burst damage. Please post the video.

My Firegrab no longer functions as a blast finisher, has that always been the case and I just never noticed? or was this an unlisted change?

Absolutely ridiculous...I started 2 new characters just out of frustration and noticed that I miss my ele, then went back to ele and got frustrated right again....endless loop of frustration over here

Give us back Evasive Arcana at least....This trait is now worthless, sadly, because it was so much fun to play. So how does this patching at ANET works? One might think you don't care about overall balance of the game...

Sounds like you failed to dodge even once, get even a single hit in, or cast any defensive spells. If you were D/D ele, you should have used Shocking aura and/or frost aura. If you were staff spec, you should have used frozen ground. In any pvp cenario, you should have been running mist form. None of these skills have to even target the theif. There are plenty of other skills that you can use. 2 second knock downs, aoe cripples, you have all the tools you need. This theif only used 9 initiative by my count. Max hit was 4.5k. That's not even enough to hurt my feelings. 2.5k heartseeker? haha. As a theif, i lol at glass theifs and tank them all the time. Not with stealth, but evades and heals. As an ele, you have far more options to work with. If you can't come up with something better to do in the amount of time it takes a theif to go through 2 auto attack chains in a row besides "dodge roll, switch to water, use my heal and dagger 5 heal", then you might be playing the wrong game.

Two auto attack chains with quickness is a little over a second, if that.

Your post comes across as more than a little bit stupid when you say it sounds like I didn't even dodge roll after quoting me saying I dodged, and then repeated at the end of your post that I dodged.

As far as abilities that I could have used:

Earthquake - 1 second cast before the knockdown and you can not move while casting. I would have died before I got the spell off.
Air skills - locked out of them for several more seconds because, unlike thieves, we have cooldowns.
Mist form - He attacked me as I finished mist form stomping a warrior and we have cooldowns.

Next time, I'll be sure to play GW2 in your fantasy universe where I always have every ability up and full energy so that I don't take 30k damage in less than 3 seconds despite having 3,359 armor.

Hell, the official forums blew up over an ele doing 23k damage to a glass cannon with <2k armor in 3 seconds to the point the eles were worried about being nerfed. Thieves can do MORE damage in LESS time to a target with 75% more armor and their answer is "lol l2p newb!"

Never said you failed to dodge roll. Just said you failed to dodge. And you're mad that he killed you because he had quickness? Maybe you should have saved that mist form for the thief. Basically from what I'm reading here you got ganked after you blew all your cooldowns. After you blew all your cooldowns. You blew all your cooldowns. your cooldowns. all of them. Next time, save some cooldowns.

Maybe you should talk to this guy:
