How do you feel about this? As the prices of rares go down, you think the prices of ectos will too? How much will exotic and rare prices plummet (or rise?)?

It is a buff to the drop rate.

It is a nerf to the value.

Nerf and buff are opposites, so therefore....They cancel each other out and the patch did nothing.

They nerfed plinx and buffed the world entire world.

It's certainly not going to break the game, but that one event chain is where 80% of level 80s did both their karma and gold farming. There were very few places that were as efficient as that route, with the alternatives (straights of desolation zergs that dont even exist anymore, camp events in cursed shore) being maybe 60-70% as effective as plinx was. After those 3 places are considered, the gold gained per hour drops by like 70% with no other viable farming locations in the game.

Of course, this is all because we don't know how the new level 80 zone will turn out. Hopefully it will be even better than plinx.

What I'm wondering about is why we're even discussing the drop rate of these things anymore, when they're adding these Consortium chests that let people just buy the "NEW" items & materials directly From Anet.  They said they'd never sell gold directly to people, but this crap isn't Soulbound and it's probably going to be worth a tons of gold in the first week

I tried out Grenth Twice, broodmother, champ abom, and arah champ wizard.

That amounts to a total of 3 chests, 3 boss mobs, and 6 champion mobs. I use 220% MF and the best drop I got was a couple of greens from them.

I think they greatly exadurated how much they increased the loot chance.

There was a bug at start of patch because I got 8 rare drops in about 3 minutes helping new trial friends in lvl 2 area......no exageration 8 rare drops in about 3 minutes one after the other with no magic find, all level 75-80.

Then suddenly it must of got live patched because it stopped without them taking the server down.

Selling items directly is not selling gold directly. The latter is a very unnecessary inflation force, that's why Anet said they won't do it. They don't have an issue with people trading gems for other people's gold, trading items from gems for gold is not very different.   If these items become that desirable, the gold value of gems should rise to roughly the value of the unopened chests (after TP taxes)

(Technically you could complain if these items can be vendored for gold, but I don't think that is where your post was going.)

Plinx was never the go-to event for gold farming.

Shelter/penit = best gold farming event that frequently occurs
Plinx was for farming karma, which isn't all that important thanks to the jugs.

Oh well, killed some champion mobs with some friends today all i got was some blue/green crap, hope Anet doesn`t mean 0.001 % is actually buff !?!

-.- I dumped my ecto supply at 20s because of the "buff", both the world drop rate and the buff to dungeon boss drops.

Then I found out plinx was nerfed and ectos are now 25s >.<

This is only a nerf to people that have been falsely inflating TP prices and getting game rich in the process.

For actual players this will be a bonus.

I don't care how small the sample size is. If I am playing for 2-3 hours I expect to get something worth while. If the drop rate is still to low for that to occur then it is broken.

You're completely ignoring what I said.

Comodities =  Fixed Value.   Fixed Value = Gold.   Therefore they're selling Gold Directly (instead of taking it from the Playerbase pool of Gold created over Time).  They're removing TIME from the equation and that's something they promised they wouldn't do.

Yup, I experienced this also.  I was in starter zone myself and got a total of 6 rares and 4 greens and bunch of blues in less than 5 minutes.  Heck I even got 2 L80 rare trinkets that wasnt soulbound on acquire.

Then it stopped and I was sad.  But I'm even more sad because it seems Veterans went back to their old drop rate, WHICH SUCKS!  I kill them for my farming and they drop at least a blue 8/10 times, now I can't even get a white.  Bug or back to vanilla drop rate?

I couldn't be bothered making a thread on it earlier, but the wording in the patch notes is bad:

"The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased."

Should really be 'drop rate...has increased'. As it stands, it makes it sound like they are becoming more rare.

But I think the next sentence left no doubt:

"Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot."

Having said that, they also said the WvW players were more likely to drop rares etc. but I haven't noticed any difference. Anyone else?

can somebody enlighten me what are these events and where they are happening?

and just give some info too, I feel the drop rate less then it was before the patch. got a bit more rares but the amount of green is less and more junk (the real junk item in game for 2-4c not less quality items) together with more blue.

I'm getting less rare loot if anything since the patch. Also, champions/veterans are definitely not guaranteed to drop loot like they say.

Getting 220% MF is like going full retard. MF only pulls out a slightly higher chance of a rare drop. If a rare is set to 1% drop rate, getting x amount of MF will only increase it by +1.5% or slightly more. Also you must do enough damage to even be able to pick up loot. Why do you think there are people with 0 MF but still sometimes get more rare than those that have? We all have equal chances. It comes down to MF and kills to have better odds.

If you're in a party, you can wear full mf gear without worrying about not doing enough damage to get credit for a kill.

Anyone in full MF gear is almost certainly in a party. I get credit for every kill, I would hope anyone who spent enough money for a full MF set would understand that.

Yeah you guys are right. I totally forgot about that because it's pathetic to consider, but hey people see it as an option, I see it being a tool. Go tell that to ZudetGambeous. He apparently forgot to party.
