I quit the game instantly, waited two months for my ranger to become viable in PvP. Jon promised us significant changes to weapons and utlities and all we get is a nerf to traps and useless buff to water combat.

After all the BS which has been fed to us, I will never believe a word from ArenaNet again.

Yeah I was hoping I could dust off my lvl 80 ranger, but this isn't going to do it for me. Other classes are still fun and I'll be sticking with those for now even though I wanted ranger to be my main. Oh well.

If I were to compare all other classes to flavors of icecream, I'd have to say that it looks like ranger got upgraded from iced milk to...iced milk still.

I was thinking about making a ranger, but I think I'll hold off on that a bit longer.

My favorite part about the update, was the kick in the teeth traps nerf.

How the hell do they only have 2 people for class balance issues?  My God...Mythic had more than this when they first started out, and weren't half the company ANet is.

Apparently traps now have 30 seconds CD.

Here's the kicker though - Warrior longbow gets a buff.

"Dual Shot: This skill’s damage has been increased by 10%."

LOL

I believe that's a bug they will fix in a few hours.

Although I am curious just what their intentions were and what they did elsewhere to manage to affect traps' mechanics like this.
There was nothing remotely linked to them in the rest of the patch notes.

I've never been one to "main" a toon in any MMO so things like this just piss me off.  I'm not going to blindly close my eyes and pretend everything is fine because my thief is still good, or still thump my chest because my warrior got off pretty clean.  It's shit like this that turn me off in this game.  Rangers have been beaten down consistently in this game.  And the thing is, lots of other aspects/classes have been left alone.  I'm done giving Anet credit, this stuff is amateur.  You don't step into the MMO scene with crap ass pvp, much less talk about how you are going to make your game an esport.  Also, and this is main point....

DONT POST ON YOUR OFFICIAL SUB FORUM FOR A CLASS AND THEN DONT DO JACKSHIT OF WHAT YOU SAID.

Ohh and please dont repost on that subforum trying to cop out on why you failed to do what you said you would.  You're a damn professional.

Patch notes for rangers are ludicrously bad. Best quote I've come across (probably deleted by now on the official forums):

Quote

Think the last bullet point was
•Reduced active ranger playerbase by 40 percent. 97 percent of active rangers are now bots.

You Rangers never get a break. This wasn't a very good round for a lot of our classes :/

- I want that purple stuff.

Yeah, that's how a lot of folks feel today after we got word that there were some significant changes expected and now find that, well, most of the patch notes for most of the classes are extremely underwhelming to say the least.

Went threw 2 hours of PvP.
Didn't see a single other ranger...
Oh boy.

I wonder when Anet will realize, well if they're not too busy playing WoW or something..

Actually, I'm not quite sure why this is such a big disappointment. I only recently started to play more with my ranger in sPvP and for me the update is a big plus since imho the buff to Counterattack and Maul is huge.

But I seem to be missing the point..

I don't know if that was really the point of those complaining about traps in this post but I only see one single trap with 30 seconds CD. Untraited Spike Trap has 25s, Flame Trap has 15s and Vipers Nest 20s. Only Frost Trap is at 30s CD and I rarely ever see anyone use it (that might just be a very subjective observation though) So what nerf to traps did I miss? Or was this in a previous patch?

The patch originally had a bug that set trap cooldowns to 30 seconds, but they released a follow-up patch shortly afterward that reverted this.  Trap specs are unchanged from the way they had been.

Hugely disappointed in the ranger changes.  Nothing of real value unless you were a GS ranger.  Trying out the GS on the ranger again, i still feel like my guardian out DPS's him on the same weapon.

Damn.  i was really excited for some changes.

I think, in the tradition of "pics or it didn't happen" idealism, Arena Net now needs to release a video showing us where the balance comes in on a competitive level. I'm extremely curious to see where they think the gameplay is balanced for rangers against other classes, and to what degree. For people that play PvE religiously, this patch was nothing but good things for them. But for people that play PvP, it showed us signs that after 7-8 years of guild wars 1, and now guild wars 2, Arena Net still fails at balancing games AND they love warriors in the sense that ANet has had a tendency now for almost a decade to make sure warriors always have many viable options and lots of raw spike potential. That's speaking from 7 years of experience with guild wars 1 and only ever seeing 1 meta shift that didn't include warriors in the metagame (somehow they had actually managed to make Dervishes even MORE powerful than warriors...).

So, I will continue to play xbox, as there are much better competitive games that came out in the first two weeks of November than this. Maybe when the idea pops into ANets head that people don't want to play the class with the least amount of viable options and ranger usage spikes into the ground, they will finally take a look at making the class competitive, and not just slightly more playable.

Honestly, rangers are competitive and nothing even in the hyped up promise that Jon made were really meant to make rangers stronger than what they are now in PvP.  Instead, the patch was supposed to give rangers more viable options outside of the Power/Skirmishing shortbow build everyone has been pidgeonholed into.

And yes, warriors it seems are almost always OP or near OP in every game.  Look at Warriors in WoW.  I don't know why this is, but it's not entirely exclusive to A-Net.

And hope that in my roam group I don't encounter a bigger roaming group... cos I can't help too much there either!
