Is it me or is Anet become more greedy with the store and are they thinking the started a casino???? Now the special event pets are not sold in gemstore like they did the halloween 1's
YOu need to buy a chest and then pray you get a drop. However there are 3 pets. So now way you will get them dropped all 3. TP price is to high so that leaves me with 3 empty spaces. ANet has become a bit greedy

Don't the notes specifically say that everything in that chest drops from the event mobs?

Wait until the price drops.   I think they said the new minis will drop from the new Lost Shores area.

Don't see what happening? The introduction of gems store drops to the Mad King chests, something that took 15-30 minutes and was one chest, murdered the prices of nigh-legendary levels of grind Halloween items. The armor/weapon skins dropped to 18g for the most expensive after the initial rush was over.

If we take this case now, where not only will they come from chests at random (lol 0.0000001% drop) with a random (lol 0.000001% drop) from every single enemy for 3 days that everyone will be murdering in high volume, you can expect there to be at least a fairly steady supply of these things coming in. Will they be cheap? No. Will the exist? Yes. Will they be not available for longer than three days and will the Kraka all disappear after 3 days? Probably not.

Actually I don't mind these chests like I did the halloween skins in the Black Lion ones.  I bought 3 and got 2 breather and 1 shoulder skin.  so it looks like you are pretty well guarenteed one skin or mini from each chest.  I don't mind gambling if I know I'm actually going to get a little something each time.  It was getting nothing worth while almost all the time that bothered me at halloween.

The breather and shoulder skins are not rare, while the mini-pet and weapon skins are.

It's a bit...boring that they just chuck skins in a chest that you pay for with gold or $$. I get why they are doing it though.

The patch notes stated the minis and skins will drop off mobs during the events, and that pretty much means during the 3 days of this weekend!

Well for a poor collector like me its a bit anoying that they removed the pet pack option from the store, wasnt so happy about the buy the pack twice and dump 1 in the forge for the last mini. However i preffered i much more then this.

Buying the new chests before the actual event is way to premature. We have no idea how frequent the drops will be for these items. I would only buy a chest and try my luck at the end of the events once I realized I am not getting what I want from normal drops

Also right now its better to sell the 1800 gems for gold and just buy everything you want from TP...or should of bought gems with gold weeks ago and use those gems to sell now for profit and just buy want you want off the TP...

rng gambling bullshit in the gem store, did noone learn anything from halloween? Anet is mugging you blind. not touching those chests with a ten foot barge pole.

I dropped $50 on gems this morning. Got a ton of dyes. About 10 of them rares. No minipets but some skins and mats. I had fun.

I can drop $50 at the bar and have a worse time so those whining about the cost should consider a subscription based game. This is what F2P is like. Its not like you are buying uber sword of killing stuff. Get over it.

The problem isn't the paying for gold for gems for pets, the problem is the gambling, opening chests and getting nothing.  I spend a lot in the gem store but I refuse to gamble my hard earned gems away especially since I had to work hard outside the game to get the money to spend in the game.  I wanted the pets and I would have gladly paid for them but I refuse to gamble for them.

What is with all of this hating on Arena Net lately? A "scam"? Do you know what scam means? If you don't want it, don't buy it. Farm the event mobs for three days. Arena Net has given you this game with no subscription fee, they have to make money somehow and that is through the store. If you want completely free games, go play some free browser game or something.

If you don't see the issue with mini-pets that have to be bought with real money exclusively via and RNG mechanism, then I don't know what to tell you.

I didn't mind buying them straight up from the gem store, but having to buy a chest for a chance to get them is garbage. It's shady, greedy garbage.

This is what 90% of F2P games do, its either charge you a subscription or have a in-game store to use real cash.

Anet is a business and they need to make a profit some how.

It's still not a scam, though. Some people will buy the chests and get what they payed for as advertised, and others will have unrealistic expectations. Others still will have some patience and just buy the minis from the TP once they start going up. There is nothing shady about it.

F2P -No upfront cost at all to play.  Download client and log it. All game revenue comes from cash shop.
Buy 2P - Purchase box (or download) to gain any access to the game. = GW2
