Mesmer
  • Moa Morph: Targets transformed by this skill have 5 new and less-frustrating skills, and this skill can also be used underwater to turn enemies into tuna. This skill now removes Death Shroud from the target instead of the necromancer being stuck in Death Shroud.
  • Portal: This skill’s recharge has been increased to 90 seconds.
  • Illusionary Duelist, Phantasmal Swordsman, Phantasmal Mage, Phantasmal Defender, Phantasmal Disenchanter, Phantasmal Rogue, Phantasmal Warlock, Illusionary Mariner, Illusionary Whaler, Phantasmal Berserker, and Phantasmal Warden: These skills must now be cast in line-of-sight of the target. These skills now behave as normal attacks that the mesmer must connect in order to summon the phantasm, and they will fail if the mesmer is blind or the ability is cast on an invulnerable target.
  • Phantasmal Mage: This skill’s confusion has been increased to 3 stacks for 3 seconds from 1 stack for 9 seconds. The recharge on Phantasmal Mage’s skill has been increased to 6 seconds from 5 seconds.
  • The Prestige: This skill’s damage has been increased by 100%.
  • Phantasmal Haste: This trait now works.
Seems like a slight nerf to casting illusions for targets that are not in LOS/blind, and an increased CD on Portal...otherwise relatively unscathed.

Torch seems to have gotten a slight buff.

Oooooh Tuna!
Well if Phantasmal haste now works...Phantasm's should be stronger for the most part, and when I'm not playing my Mesmer I will admit the inability to counter Phantasms was ridiculous. This update certainly increases the skill required of Mesmers which is both good and bad, some nerfs but I'll see how it plays out.

RIP Illusionary Berserker.  I hope they at least improved the LOS casting because getting "obstructed" all the time is gonna be a downer.

Word is it doesn't (see official forums). Testing needed.

Personally, I see mesmer as brokener now.

Looks like they have also stealth-nerfed or bugged iBerserker damage.

I tested Phantasmal Haste on the Mage, Warlock, Swordsman, and Duelist.  There was a noticeable difference in their attack rate, especially the Warlock and Mage.

New Moa Skills:
1) Claw: Scratch your foe.
2) Kick: Kick your foe.
3) Peck: First hit does a lot of damage, then 3 hits for about 30% of the initial damage.
4) Screech: AoE damage3x  + 3 stacks Confusion for about 3s
5) Flee: Super speed dash in the direction you're facing.

Meh. With iBerzerker now requiring LOS I don't see any reason to play my mesmer in WvW.  Only thing fun about it is gone. I don't know about anyone else but I find it impossible to get LOS on players that are keep defending with other spells.

I'm pretty pissed about the LOS thing

Greatsword auto attack can't hit stuff that I *blatantly* have LOS on because it aims at too low of a body part, so enemies can attack me from a wall, when I ping off of it, which means izerker won't be able to spawn even when mirrorblade can hit!

I actually think there could be a fair compromise as to what they should do...

Have it so you need to get LOS to your target's head

The problem mesmer greatsword (and ranger bow) has, is that it aims too low on the body, so a target firing down, you can't hit firing up at

1. moa - now it is not elite skill. swithing to time warp.
2. LOS - it's nice nerf. But we have to deal with it.

The iBerserker damage is simply ridiculous now :/ Which is sad coz gs is my favourite weapon and I kinda refuse to play mesmer w/o it ><

I'm starting to hate Anets way of those stealth nerfs.... iBerseker really nerfed(at work atm so cant' check it out)? i can live with LoS "fix" but don't see point on dmg nerf.

Seeing as the damage nerf was not in the patch notes it is quite likely that it is a bug.

Yeah iberserker damage took a big hit. I found out the hard way and got owned on a 1v2 and had to learn to make some adjustments but still without that berserker damage, I find it almost impossible to drop a bunker type warrior or something before he runs across half the map. It's hardly worth trying now.

THe LOS thing, well, I found myself just standing there during keep siege tonight if there was no cannons or oil to take down. I can run siege but that's about it.

Ok unless I'm missing something there's no notes stating the Zerker took a damage nerf. Did they stealth nerf it? If so WTF Anet!

Or it's a ninja nerf. I hope it's a mistake. Anyways, iBerserker took a big hit. I love greatsword.. but now.. ugh. I can't even use it when i'm in the d*mn keep/tower. You have to jump onto the ledge for it to work and even then sometimes you get "Obstructed" message.

RIP Greatsword

Just  switched my build to using staff and S/P for WvW.

I don't understand why'd they nerf zerker damage. The skill didn't do that much damage in the first place. And speaking as someone who was often on the receiving end of the skill in siege, zerkers were very easy to handle.

it's exactly that. other phantasms hit much harder than the iZerker, so this nerf was completely unnecessary >< without the zerker the GS falls into the category of scepter and torch >_>

Which is exactly the reason why it is most likely a bug, not a nerf.

would it surprise you if it wasn't considering the huge disappointment this entire patch has been in the balance/nerf/buff department? lol

Even without the damage stealth nerf/bug to iBerserker it loses a lot of its usefulness with LOS. GS is pretty much dead I agree. It's like they're forcing us to play staff s/p neglecting all the other weapons for shatter/phantasm specs.

I'm surprised no one is mentioning the Blind cast nerf. A lot of specs have a blind and this pretty much shuts us down in another way making us unable to cast illusions.

I see the torch as a buff to condition mesmers but honestly condition mesmer is lackluster as it gets trained down by any necro making this build kind of useless in tpvp as almost every decent team has a necro.

The LOS/BLIND nerf in combination with the Portal nerf we will see less mesmers in tpvp now.

Since Mesmer has no castable AOE spell (not counting shatters, thinking more about keeps and castles sieges in WvW) I thought iBerzerker was our "poor-mans" castable AOE spell to give us something to do during the siege other than building a ram..  And if they stealth nerfed bezerkers damage on top of that its gonna have a lot of GS users rethinking there main weapons.  Staff might be a much better weapon at this point.  Bye bye ibezerker... it was fun while it lasted.

Doesn't matter what weapon you use with shitty los mechanics. A two inch wall crenellation will still block all your abilities regardless of the weapon. 2% of your body mass hidden = 100% cover from direct damage. We'll have to rely on all of our indirect attacks /sarcasm

My gawd... Im loosing interest in this game. Why nerfing iZerker? Making it unable to hit targets on walls was already a big shock for me, but now nerfing its damage? I dont really know what Anet is thinking...

The per hit damage of iZerker wasn't nerfed. iZerker damage was always variable due to positioning, where sometimes it would get in an extra hit or two as it spins through your target. It seems the patch changed something with the INITIAL positioning on summon which makes it unable to get these extra hits in. If you look at any successive attacks from the iZerker the damage is as it was before. I'm fairly sure this was unintentional.

Well. Now even I have to admit that there is no reason to take GS instead of Staff. Since we can also no longer abuse LOS very well, I quess I'll chance my build to pure shatter damage.

The nowdays completly retarted anet just wants everyone to run the same build.

I got a question. If a player hits a target that's invulnerable/blocking/distorted with a skill that applies condition, does the condition not apply? Does C&D's stealth not work? I've never really paid attention myself as I'm new to pvp, but I'm curious. If they don't, I suppose it makes sense ANet made mesmer follow suit with the block.

Seems like mesmer's phantasms are becoming more of a 'projectile' skill, rather than a 'summon' skill.

I'll re-post what was posted in the other thread:
Illusionary Berserker has not received a direct damage decrease. Instead, is seems that the damage reduction you (and I) are seeing is most likely associated this fix:
“Fixed a bug that caused many piercing, boomerang, and bouncing projectiles (those that hit more than 1 target) to continually increase in damage the more targets they hit.”
We are aware that this particular phantasm is now experiencing a significant drop in damage and are looking at getting it back to a more effective state.

I don't undersrtand the LOS complaint. Every other profession has to have the target on sight to hit thier single target skills. So this wasn't a nerf, but rather a bug correction.
