Mine and 80% of other Elementalists out there (check the build threads, 80% have this trait and yes, it is crucial).

Yes, we won't be missed. Enjoy your Guardian vs Thieves Wars 2. Bye.

Very dramatic, I am sure a lot of people will cry over the loss of such strong characters.

Bye.

Check out this thread and the other one about Ele patch changes.
Also check out tPvP builds and count the ones that had Evasive Arcana and/or S/D.
Also you most likely never really played Staff and do not care about those of us who did and enjoyed it.

Post your personal opinion and be done with it. You either do not play Ele, or belong to a small minority of those who did not use Evasive Arcana, Dragon's Tooth and MG for combos.

Roamer with ether renewal (it's very powerfull now)

I'm tentatively saying this after one night of playing, but like Athletic said ether renewal is pretty strong. I haven't used it before tonight, so I can't say how it was before but its really upped my sustain. Interrupts and dazes are deadly to this, and you lose some of the boons that come with the glyph, but the low cooldown and constant condition removal make it worth it IMO. I was surviving some pretty crazy odds, and just blowing stuff up in general tonight on my S/D ele.

I'd have to play more but to me this seems like a nice buff.

Look, I appreciate your attempt to belittle my expertise, but it's not doing you any good. I've played the EA build enough to get accustomed to it and to love the playstyle it offers. I constantly switch my weapons and builds and I know that dedicating myself mentally to a single build is never a bright idea. Doesn't the fact that so many people are crying over the nerf of ONE build make you wonder?

The types of players that hold on to one strategy never get to become good at their class. This patch is an opportunity for you and the rest of us to experiment and explore other options. You can either bi*ch about it, or accept it and give your best to overcome the obstruction.

Also, you yourself say that I should 'post my personal opinion', but experience has taught me that phrases like '80% of us...' just don't really fit the context.

Anyways, people who decide to quit the game over such a thing only expose their weakness and lack of patience and effort.

------------------

I just want to add something on topic - we've lost something, but we've gained something else. Ether Renewal is indeed very powerful now, I've tested how it holds in dungeons and it's great. The 15 second cooldown is hardly noticeable; in the Fractals of the mists often I imagined that my heal is on CD while in reality it wasn't. This is definitely my new main healing spell.

Give Fiery greatsword a chance as well. I've written a small thread with the transitional build I currently use, until something better surfaces. You can find it in the PvE elementalist page.

Dis be PvP.

I can say I'm one of the 80%. I've wracked my brain to come up with a viable build after the patch. The only ones worth using were roaming builds, and even then those could easily be outdone. What ANet did to eles was make them a class that can have everything no matter which spec. Conversely, they balanced it so that we can't do anything particularly well (at least not any more) so as to not let one spec benefit too much from another. This hurts us in PvP since it doesn't let them have any defining roles. Maybe the metagame will someday evolve to allow this type of character to have a role, but for now I'm gonna roll an Engie as it is a jack of all trades class that can do its job well.

Also, has anyone here been to the offcial forums? The Devs simply don't read of feedback Elementalist sub-forum, and there's a whole lot of it too. It makes me think that Eles are in their current state because of neglect on ANet's part.

dude theres no ele that i know without 30 points in arcane bouncing between elemental surge nad evasive arcana. In dungeons theres probably no ele at all that hasnt used this trait.

Btw ehter renewal ws always a good heal for me..i dont know how suddenly you all discovered it just cause it lost 1 sec of cast time. You just get out of combat with the numerous escape things ele has and then reset it using ether.they cant interupt you if they cant catch you.

His post was a sarcasm.
Why would it be sarcastic. I was testing it all night yesterday, me on an engi and my friend on ele. Even with the various interrupts the engi has I still wasn't able to outdmg his sustain. The only time he got in trouble was when my concussion bomb hit him and his ether renewal got interrupt instantly without removing it. And even in panic situations like that you can use ether renewal while in mistform.

I actually switched to S/D.  Dragons tooth is bugged, it doesnt give blast finisher AT ALL let alone where it falls, so I dont think this will remain.  I love D/D but in WvWvW I keep over extending and getting sucked in, sceptre gives me some range at least and the dagger offhand is great for when it does get close up still.  Its not the same but it works.

Fires embrace & zephyrs boon still work great together with a couple or three signets (MAX - always need stun break too).

Check out Aky's build compilation thread, pick any roamer build, slot Ether Renewal in there, get rid of any glyph / signet traits in favor of something else. His "Aggressive Boon", for instance, would work pretty well.
It is that simple.

I find it funny how you reference dungeons in PvP discussion forum, and never mention any tournaments. Should I be a real *, I would proclaim all your posts invalid based on that reference alone.
Also, ER was good before Nov.15, just underused.

As you have already seen in above posts, most of posters here support the point of old Evasive Arcana extreme importance to class overall. According to our consensus, old Evasive Arcana was probably the most important trait Elementalist had, since it's influence on class's mechanics and position in the food chain was unmatched. So "80% of us" DOES fit the context.

Regarding your point of my inadaptability. Evasive Arcana is not a build, like you somehow assume. It is a trait. It is used in multiple builds. Some builds (i.e. Staff builds) can not exist without it in srs tPvP, they're just too weak. Other builds were significantly affected (S/D D/D builds lost extra might stacks and thus damage).

I, as Elementalist, adapted since BWE3, 450+ hours total /age. ANet kept killing builds I invented every other stress-test. Like CLeansing Water becoming GM trait and GoEH perma-protection nerf. Evasive Arcana was untouched, so I assumed it was "intended", and the mechanic was interesting enough to make me stick with Ele. Until recently, that is.

Wasn't affected by last update that much. Obviously change sigils for tourneys.Huge survivability, decent damage with conditions. Lots of team healing and support, elite skill for capping points.

5500 damage per meteor is just too much fun to bother looking for other builds.

D/D 0/20/10/30/10

Good times in both sPvP and WvW.

I use runes of divinity & sigils of accuracy / hydromancy in sPvP, with knight's amulet and berserker's jewel (could maybe go with valkyrie, but I like a higher healthpool).

In WvW, I combine with Valkyrie's set and eagle runes, together with knight jewelry (sometimes a bit of beryl mixed in) and a power / toughness / vit offhand (mainhand is valkyrie).

I'm curious as to what your build is?  Ele really seems to be the one class in the game that really only has a couple niche specs to me.  Everything else is bland and mediocre. What exact direction are you taking as far as specs?  Id like to know your reasoning and how effective you find it.
