As far as the match goes... well, lets just say I'm going to give JQ and SBI the benefit of the doubt, and reserve any judgement until next week. Happy Thanksgiving, Fellas!

Have a great one also. I hope we get more troops out next week to make it more fun for everyone.

Thanksgiving only in the US. Doesn't affect Oceanic people in SoS. Already 11PM Thursday in Oz and tomorrow is just a normal day...

[and JQ quite possibly will take second place again overnight - once again they are taking the ppt towards the end of oceanic primetime. SBi is way behind atm]

SoS  196,497  +270
JQ  142,182  +280
SBI  146,460  +145

SBI and JQ folks, please stop trying to make-up an "asterisk" for what's happening this week.  You knew we were coming, that we were serious and hungry for a good  fight.
Perhaps you read about the now infamous "candy corn cacophony" or perhaps the fact that we didn't expect to do this well and were honest about that; there's all sorts of reasons we were underestimated.
However, those excuses were used up by late Friday night.

You say that we ignored the event, I say we chose to win while you chose to lose.  The event was over by Monday, and things have not improved significantly.

SBI the quality of your players is not in question, just your hunger for victory.  JQ, you seem to be even more sapped; but your coordination and alliances have  been the talk of GW2 WvW for a long time now.
We hope that this week and next week will help you realize that you are no longer alone at the top, and there are at least 3 VERY hungry servers that will take you down if you blink.

I wouldn't say our hunger for victory is in question but our numbers have definately been down this week.  This can be attributed to a number of factors such as, holiday, new PvE patch, burnout you name it.  These are not really excuses but some degree of truth.  I have no doubt in my mind that SoS is an amazing server and deserves to be in T1.  Don't worry we will give you a good fight next week, I promise it.

A big thanks to everyone for the great match so far.  It's easy to be positive when you're leading, hopefully everyone from our server remembers that next week.  Also, there are a lot of people from all servers who are on here making themselves and their servers look foolish, I think that time might be better spent being a positive force in your server; even if it's sitting in a zone and trying to turn out your numbers.  Take care everyone, and happy Thanksgiving to those participating.

This week has been some of the best fights i have seen in any game in a long time. Both SoS and JQ have some amazing guilds that actually get me excited when i see them on my map. Have a happy Thanks Giving Tier 1 and make sure to take break for gods sake and eat something heh.

I hope Anet decides to address stealth cap denying, it seems relentless atm. No single person should be that effective against a vast majority of people. I've never used this tactic and can say the same of most of my allied guilds. I seldom saw it in t2 but it seems almost standard of any keep push in t1. I understand the need for a competitive advantage so I'm not calling SBI or JQ out on bad sportsmanship ; just a constant frustration that such a method exists. I compare it to a guardian having such potent healing power that they can survive 1v30.

I think another thing that should be looked at is the stealth flag plant.   Also, the perma stealth thief is easy to counter.  Just make sure everyone knows once lord is down stack up quickly and lay a ton of AoE at  your feet and when they come out of stealth have your ranged just burn them down.

There is no Blackgate. Blackgate was just a distraction while every guild and their mother stacked on SoS.

Don't pull a Jade Quarry. First place is nothing if you can't hold onto it. And it's actually true that SoS held off on the event? I thought it was just a joke.

Speaking from past experience the mod's won't remove them. I have proven that Walker/Menaace/Whatever hes going by now isn't in AoS so many times yet they won't remove him or do anything about him. The best you will probably get is the post removed if you report it. Just giving you the heads up save time effort and allow you to spend more time out in WvW :)

It can be effective for a few reasons
1) Holding keep until your reinforcements arrive (depending on the keep could be fast could take a few mins thus the importance).
2) Holding the point til tick once again in Tier 1 every point matters especially in the beginning
3) It's funny as hell to hold something when so many people are standing trying to cap (never done it but I watched a guildie do it while I was dead waiting for a WP).
4) It's a valid tactic even if its frustrating but it sometimes leads to another large lords room fight which in turn makes it worth it :)

Coming from a guy who jumped from BG to SBI that means nothing just means someones a bit angry his #1 server was dethroned. Plus I don't mind being #3 or #2 server. I've experienced life as #1 it wasn't all its made out to be sure its fun but its also sort of annoying at the same time. I just play the game to have fun and right now I'm not going to complain because WvW when I log on everyday I have a ton of fights and its fun. Fighting doors is boring (unless your karma training and drinking shots everytime you cap something) :)

one of our returning players asked, "who are these sea of sorrow guys"?

someone replied, "dragonbrand, henge, jq, and bg".

then he asked, "they just made it to tier 1 right now"?

"what happened to the orbs"?

"they're gone".

LOL

Well said, and that is how it should be for fun and longevity of GW2 WvW, no one with any sense wants a stale scenario - hopefully we can all agree on that. Still lots of fun to be had in WvW in the next day and of course next week will hopefully be a tighter affair, fingers and arms crossed :)

We blinked and 3 very hungry servers pooled their best guilds into SoS.
How do you expect Blackgate or any other <Tier 2 server to make it to tier 1 if they keep losing guilds?

I have to say -- some of the most fun fights I've had in about a month were all this week. Though the overall score may not be perfect in the minds of SBI'ers... being a part of a great team going against other great teams is what the game is about. I really don't mind losing overall as long as the groups I'm running with still have a competitive chance to have a fun, dominating night in whichever map we're playing. Those of us who logged on... we couldn't be 'everything' but we still brought the pain train we always bring in within our own scopes of influence.

And though there will always be QQing as far as WvW points are concerned... by those who feel their gaming experience is defined by said numbers...

SoS has brought a far more civil crowd to this board than some of the trolls/wagon-jumpers that plagued this thread during the 3 week fight with BG involved.

You've definitely earned your spot in T1 in terms of being both competitive and respectful in general. And those of us who stopped even reading these forums as much because of the crazy trolls weeks ago... well.. we see it and we appreciate it.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We're all playing a great game, and as far as this current 3-way pairing goes... I have a feeling the war's only just begun ;).

Even if you count Agg we transferred 4-5 weeks ago when SoS was T4 and BG was about to hit T1.

the best fights were actually when orbs and turtles were still around

sos winning in a watered-down tier one doesnt mean much, especially when they required all of their wvw guilds to skip the event entirely haha

lets see what happens in a month or so

You guys that are complaining about SoS need to get over it.

Yes we lost a lot of people to new pve content, a holiday or whatever. You act like SoS went out there and had every point on the map for every hour of the match uncontested. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I know from my point of view they had to work their asses off for every point they got, even when we were outmanned. Yeah, they have some arrogant trolls that dance on corpses and laugh at people that get run over by an army of 30 or 40 when that person is running to meet up with a group. What server doesn't? If you name one, you are lying.

If SoS is truly overloaded with players and stay at the top, it won't be indefinitely. Some of those people came from HoD in the TA days. They know how utterly boring it will get if there is no chance of losing. I'm glad they've won this match. It's knocked some people off their high horses and created an element of unknown in the game. I'm staying on SBI no matter how far it falls. If we fall and become the #10 ranked server bouncing up to #9 or whatever, I will be logging in and giving those servers down there the same kind of broken jaws and black eyes I log in and hand out up here.

You know why? I run around without a guild. That means my friends are my servermates and this is where I belong. As a solo player I will have no net effect on any server, I can only have fun. So all you Garbage Pail Kids can take your guilds and go wherever you want. It will just make me happy when I see your guild tag in red so I can beat you until you go home to momma crying about how your paper route is too hard.

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year everyone.

On a seperate topic, I would like Agg to consider coming back to BG, here are the reasons:

1.  The reasons for Agg to leave BG at first place do not apply anymore and actually apply to SOS. SOS is much more stacked compare to BG and the ex-TA guilds Agg has trouble with are on SOS now

2.  The reputation of Agg on SOS is overshadowed by the more prominent guilds there like PRX and ex-DB guilds, the contribution by Agg for SOS is marginall and under-appreciated

3.  BG actually really needs Agg at its current time zone.  Agg will make a much bigger contribution and be appreciated by the whole server a lot more

4. Major guilds on BG understand why Agg chose to leave in the first place and do not harbor ill feeling.  If Agg choose t come back now it would boost Agg's reputation as a guild come to help its old friends when they are in desperate needs.

And as predicted so has it come to pass. The Sea of Sorrows has washed in to the tier of tears. Titans walk the shores. You have been tested and found wanting. Your assumptions have proven incorrect. We are here again and nothing will be as it was.

Who falls first to the 2nd tier?

Who will suffer the ridicule of those spurned so vilely in past weeks?

So much pride, so far to fall...
