Good week.. of course it could have been way better if we actually had people not doing fractals and wvwing.

In the future though, won't those people who have been farming fractals be stronger because of the gear they're getting? In the long run it may actually help SBI's strength.

Grats to SoS! And PRX, RMA for enduring the long journey since the fall of HoD! :D

Ritsuko you're one of the finest players/commanders I've played with. It sucked playing against you this week, especially when I saw you (hey how many relentless, Asuran commanders does [SYN] have who tactics I recognised  )  - I hope to play with you again some time in the future.  I share your concerns about general  population (particularly non prime).

Actually we have 3 Asuran commanders (now only 2 left). :D

I've been away for military reservist for the past 2-3 weeks and have just gotten back..!

Few things:

1.  This victory belongs primarily to the hardcore Oceanic WvWers of Sea of Sorrows, most notably Jedahs and [MERC] and [OCX] but to many others as well, that have stayed with SoS since the early days and battled each week.  The Oceanics of SoS had the most to prove as they were constantly doubted:
  • They couldn't stand up to SoR's Nine Dragons and CRS, but they did stand up, and stand tall.
  • They would get crushed by IoJ's Oceanics, but instead beat them three consecutive times to prove who has the best Oceanic WvWers.
  • War Machine would roll over SoS's Oceanics, but they didn't.

2.  Secondarily, many NA and other guilds, hearing the call of from the SoS Oceanics, joined the server, when it was ranked 10th or lower, for a challenge.  Instantly we all worked together and communicated and shared the load.  Even though most nights we always had a map with nearly zero coverage during our NA timeslot (and to this day virtually no Euro coverage), we typically had the best ppt while pulling double duty and constant all-calls.  Much respect to guilds and alliances such as FoE, AoI, WORK, HuG, FANG, TSym, RMA and DiE (forgive me if I forgot any).  We have many talented folks that, when they're on the map, put in great work.  The militia and commanders do a great job as well.  I have witnessed extremely little infighting on maps during matches.

3.  To JQ and SB, thanks for a great match and I salute your hard work and skill.  You folks deserve to be mentioned among the best servers of all time in GW2 for your consistency.  I can only hope that SoS shows such consistency at the top.

You guys and girls did awesome.   It is a great victory, not just for SoS, but for the game in general.   The player base reshuffled itself into this current spread.

Some came from the sacrifices of TA and AA.  Some came from other servers to balance out the top tiers.  Also, to be brutally honest, some of this came as the more fair weathered players simply left.

This was a close match averaging no more of a spread than around 50k, something many servers have closed and passed quickly in the past.  Second and third place never seemed to spread more than 5k from each other.

Overall, it would appear that the game has evolved into something much more competitive.   Since HoD's 30-0 record, no one server in spot one has held it for more than 3 straight wins.

It would appear the NA bracket community carved out a much better game for themselves than what was there before.  To me, it is far more important that the player base did this, rather than wait for the developers to fix the issues.  Thanks to all of you, we now have a game.

Once again, gratz to SoS, it is a great victory.  You earned the trophy for this week and there were far more of us cheering for you than you knew.

Because of this week, spot one has gone from the impossible to the possible.  Tier One is no longer an exclusive club that most servers can never reach.

/salute

Sorry, when you were talking about the first commander on SoS, I thought you were referring to the first commander of SoS?

I think I know the commander that you meant to say, are you talking about the one that transferred off SoS while we were losing to IOJ?

I was not talking about the first commander on, in, or of SoS.
Let me say it in a simpler way: The first commander of a guild on SoS.
Is that still hard to understand?

Ok, then, let's try it this way: The first commander of a guild in SoS.
No?

First commander of a guild of SoS?

Is that the same thing as the first commander of SoS of another guild? or the same guild? lol

Well now that the week of PvE influenced WvW is finally coming to a close, I look forward to kicking SoS squarely in the balls all week next week as they see just how big a difference the "one time event" made on this match. This match was a very close fight for second and I give JQQ props for pulling the extra hours and skipping the family dinners over Thanksgiving to grasp the 2nd place position this week. As for Sea of PuGs, grats on having more people that don't PvE than everyone else that point lead gained over the one time event was just insurmountable.

NOW FOR SOMETHING FUN, Since we can't win this week it come's time to win the Jumping Puzzle and in true SBI style vastly outmanned but never out gunned!

That was an awesome week guys, I'm glad to be facing the best again, and I'm sure SBI and JQ will put their best in the weeks to come, SoS will have to improve even more if we want to keep what we achieved so far.

RMA is really pleased to be part of this and we want to thank every single player, being part of the already mentioned guilds or just being one of our awesome militia, that worked hard for this accomplishment, let's keep up the good work and make sure our friends here from JQ and SBI(BG/SoR to come? *-*) have good fights for a long time =)

Congratulations SoS!

You guys arrived highly motivated and ready for a fight, and you most definitely deserve top spot.

I hope, and I think, that you may find next week a different experience.

   Ummmm....

Have you guys picked up your trophy yet?

Beastgate should have his luggage unpacked by now, I think.

Most of the people doing the extra work were our oceanics actually they put in a lot of hardwork and effort (Our oceanics sorta land in a time zone where its late SEA/Oceanic time zone but they go right into EU primetime for a good two hours~) :)

RMA is at SoS for a while already. Since the break of Titan we spent a week at Kaineng (farming and for the lols) and moved to SoS the week after =)

Duo to the timezones at NA prime time we are leaving, it's daylight time here in Brazil. so we basicaly gets what's left of our small EU team and prepare the terrain to ours NA's to roll, it's been fun, I've spent a lot of gold upgrading buildings but.. meh, it's just pixels anyways =P

/Agree with most of the good natured posts in here.  We came, we saw, we had a blast!  We know you had event attrition, so did we, but I think it may have hit you harder than us.  That being said, SoS is going to have to bring its A game to continue to compete in lieu of the Holiday attrition upon all 3 servers now.  SBI and JQ both have not only earned their stripes in T1, they are part of the landscape here.  Its been a pleasure competing with you guys, and looking forward to seeing all servers at 100%!

Shout out to all forum posters who obviously read all the negative posts, the QQ posts, the excuses, and trash talking, and the poor winners baying away in here like a bunch of moronic donkeys, and still posted GGs and GJs.  Its easy to reduce these posts to mud slinging and trash talking, takes a better kind of person to stay above the mud and win or lose, keep positive and respectful.  Cheers!

I look forward to another week of taking a dump in your guild's portal bombs, wiping you never gets old.

Definately one of the better matches, good job SoS. Kvent ran some really good warbands in warhammer. What server was it... averheim, or was it badlands... 6 hours to reset!

If a ring and a back brace make that much of a difference, then this game is in serious trouble.

Besides, I've seen so many twilights running around SoS lately that I'm not that worried about it (seriously, I think the legacy SoS folks were so far down there because they were off crafting legendaries!)

Our perceptions are based on what is happening at the given time.

When the match started, SBI did not feel threatened by SoS cause the point trend at the time was insufficient to derail SBI. By comparison, Blackgate in first matchup was far more devastating out of the gate. However, once the new content was out & people started to realise there was a new gear threadmill, SBi presence plummeted. Our player's who WvW regularly never viewed SoS as stacked. SoS came in motivated & determined to win, so props for that. Weekly matches require turning up & putting in the effort which you guys have done superbly. Another server fighting competitively for T1 can only be hugely positive for WvW. I'm hopefull SBI will show its capability at some point in the future.

Congratz on the win.

{insert excuse for sbi losing here}

{insert "Congratz on the win SoS" here}

See, my template above save us much time on forums in future so we can WvW now and not forum warrior more.  Sbi we need whine less and win more.

Profit here from SBI

Alright, listen up. I'm going to say a lot of words here and they are nothing but the truth.

So, first off, great week. We were bored of Blackgate but that was partly my fault because I raged on forums (got my gw2 account suspended) about their hacks and then BG fell apart -- you can tell by the troll posts from Superhiro and his hate for SBI. We were truly bored: 3 come from behind wins, some BG guilds coming to SBI and some going to SoS. It was fun and boring at the same time. I can tell we were bored because some of our servermates do not show up as much. And I am willing to bet a Dusk that we had more people in fractals than SoS did. And it might be that way if our server cannot meet the presence of SoS and their renewed sense of urgency in tier 1.

And it is always great to have some new enemies to defeat. In most games, you are forced to gather 19 or 24 or 39 other people to stand and spam a bunch of skills at the exact moments and get wiped if one person messes up. Here, we have constantly changing enemies and for me it is fun to make my own 'boss' and defeat them. It's as if I have control over the game, much like in the old Dungeon Keeper . Sometimes raging is  healthy for the game because we all care and love the game and when you get bored, it will turn some people off but it brews competition. Although we are not the best server any longer, we have new competition to rip into shreds. So the game becomes fun again.

I'm not sure if I am an enemy of ATac on SoS, but my leaving their guild sort of created an imaginary enemy, along with JQ and the rest of my servermates, which they longed to beat -- we are all here to win -- so secretly I am glad that SoS was able to amass a huge force and beat us with calculated attacks. But I am not so happy about Coronbale's post on how to have fun in WvW because they transferred servers for better coverage and to have more competition in lower tiers(?). And it broke up my loyalty to Dragonbrand and our guild abandoned it also, so it was disappointing is all.

Glad to have my old guild coordinating well with their server and we have made the game more fun, I hope. Good luck to all servers!

:D
