What should I be doing with my time during this event?
What events/items available right no or soon will be timed and stuff I should be using my time doing now?

I've just had a mind* from all the different people you have to talk with and the mystic forge. I have no idea, sorry. Wondering the exact same thing.
Some of the npcs you need to talk to are bugged too. Nothing much you can do except starting to play fractals of them mist.

Well the investigation hunt thingy will only be around for this weekend (probably will end before Stage 2 at 8pm GMT 2moro) so you may want to get that completed.
Otherwise, try out the FoTM if you wish to or just your normal playing time.
Stage 2: You'll want to do the one off event, then explore the new island I guess.

Investigation starts from the LA beach. Take a crowbar and open 1 of the wrecked boxes, and you will find your first piece, which you will bring to Levvi in the LA Piazza. That will get you started on the investigation.

FotM is permanent and the investigation should last till the end of this event (monday).
