As far as random grouping goes, was in a random (Overflow) with a full party, at the end fractal 2 dc'd but we managed to complete it nonetheless.
Awesome people with none of the above hating on low level (was level 11 then).

You call it a free chain event, I call it content players paid for. They must release new content to keep us entertained or else players will leave. People paid for all content of the game. Do you enjoy settling for mediocrity?

We paid for all content at the release of the game, there is no sub and they are not required to release any content for free at all.
And so what if people get bored and leave, they will come back when new things are released.

I think it's nice we get new things outside of expansions :D

I was so eager about this one time event...Until I got into the overflow and the whole thing started. Oh, my God, the lag! After 10 minutes of desperately hoping to see my skills actually working, I just logged off. A lot of people were complaining of the same problem. I feel so bad that because of this I missed a potential nice event. Other than that, I have to see FotM for mysef; the mini quests are bugged here and there and not very explicit, so you might find yourself wandering around looking for something; the new Lionguard weapons are ok, have yet to see the new Fractal weapons with my own eyes; the events that take place in all Tyria are either bugged or being zerged so most of the times you get there and see a zergfest kiling faster than the speed of light. Looking forward to the new area though. Maybe things are going to get better there.

The Lion's Arch events were very laggy and I didn't really enjoy any part of them, but seriously guys, the new dungeon is easily the best dungeon we've seen in any MMO so far. It's superb and I can't wait to see what the higher difficulty levels have to offer.

The sole fact that me and the pug I was playing with had to re-think our strategies and combine all of our efforts in order to progress to the next difficulty is great. This is exactly what I was looking for, some challenges. I can't imagine how terrible it would feel to have to complete a level with a very bad group, but that is just another part of life.

Only took 14 posts before someone starting whining about buying gems/gold.

Fractals isnt going to be one of those 20min dungeons like AC, it's going to require effort from everyone to get any good progress in it. So why are you whining about pugging it on the first night and being kicked from a group?  get a good pve guild and do it with them, its as simple as that.

people kicking classes they don't like or don't think your geared enough, their loss, i ran with 4 80s and a level 20 from my guild and managed to do it very easily.

We're 3-4 months into the game and your bitching about having heroes too? you guys really need to suck it up.

I like the fractals but I can see many problems for people without a dedicated party.

But the event itself? Absolute garbage. It's something I'd have expected in 1998. GM appears and spawns a million mobs in a city. EPIC EVENT OF THE CENTURY.
They really need to stop doing this, because they obviously lack the basic knowledge to support this kind of stuff.
Massive lag, invisible mobs and players, zero skill involved, boring mechanics. I had people in my guild dropping the event half-way because it was so absolutely awful.

And the bugged investigation quest. I'm *ing tired of playing a beta every single time they update something.
We are three months after release and they still can't properly test anything before a major update.

At least we didn't get the massive login/broker/guild chat crash of doom this time. Good job Anet, it only took three months for a fix.

I had a good time in the dungeon with random people. Only for the 1 person leaving beceause we died to much in the beginning. God its new after 20 min we got the hang off it and it went great. People are so pathetic sometimes.

Kicked for being a mesmer?  This means that there was a 100% chance that group was too stupid to progress through dungeon at a reasonable speed.   Personally, I would want two.

Run with guild if you have problems (I had to pug since most of my guild formed groups already, but i had no problems)

Only problem i encountered was in the one dungeon where you need to use the hammer to break some seals...... twice the hammer randomly disappeared after being dropped on the ground, and the only way to get it back (didn't respawn at the alters) was for everyone to die to reset from last check point. Very annoying.

The swamp dungeon is plain stupid too.

Agreed 100%. See what comes of it. <_<

have to say dissapointed...Bugged out quest(one still not fixed), dungeon easy with mostly 1st time players..until one get's bugged out, then another rage quits cus he's to "arrogant" to time the trick paths that knock you off the edge(there so easy to time), so i cant say it was easy since we didnt really get past a 2nd area(we did wisp=grab+run back at same time,, then did release the statue and break seals,, one guy bugged out at last seal(although he was still in party/in dungeon), the other had already rage quit, so we decided to quit, then new patch comes in, Noll event played once, but didnt update, then bugged out and wouldnt restart and wont talk to people who did event.

so yeah sadly have not enjoyed the neww content so far..mainly due to bug affecting me or other people.

At least you can still play the game. Since the patch the game is unplayable for some people, I don't mean unplayable as in "I can't play with these changes" I mean we cannot load the game without it crashing

I hope all the players disappointed with the event realize that the main PvE content isn't even out yet.

I spent 5+ hours in Fractals of the Mist with PUGs and my experience was overall positive. Sounds like some just got unlucky with their groups.

This has already been mentioned but I want to draw more attention to it. Unless you have completed a full round of fractals and returned to the safe zone, leaving the party (even at the end of a fractal) will force the entire group to quit. It's worse than quitting in the middle of a regular dungeon.

I really enjoyed Fractals of the Mist. If A-Net finds some way to allow groups to replace members, this dungeon will be even better.

3. Oh, so apparently you need full exotics in order to join a party? No exotics? OK! Kick
4. Kicking people because it is their first time in the dungeon. "Excuse me XXXslayerXXX, how do i do this jump puzzle, i am new here --' Kicked.
5. Party leader got bored, so he and his friend kick everyone out. Griefing.
6. Player A L>dungeon. Player B invite. Player B ask: what difficulty. Player A says 'i am new, or i am difficulty 1'. Kicked. (NOTE, neither party mentioned what difficulty they are on)
7. There is racism in the game. One guy kicked a sylvari because he doesnt like trees. Thank god i am a human.
Lol it's GW1 PvP and End Game PvE all over again. :D

You get free event chain and whine about it? Noone forces you to do the event. And if you want to do fractals just go with your guild, and actually go there for fun not to grind it like you do everything else, we had 3 guild parties running yesterday and all had great time.
Cant imagine why you would want to do dungeon with randoms and without VOIP in first place...

Guilds exhibit the same behavior, not level 80, not full exotics, not difficulty +3 yet, and you are not welcome.

Free content, the was totally bugged.  You get what you pay for.

Tried to get through my first set of dungeons this morning. This is what happens:

-Made a party pretty fast.
-Get through the first dungeon fairly well. Except that our level 80 Elementalist keeps dying every encounter, and keeps saying that Elementalists aren't made to be hit.
-Second dungeon, no one knows what to do. Everyone but me wipes, and we decide to reset the dungeon.
-Someone leaves, so we get a new guy.
-We get through the first 2 dungeons fairly well. Once again we have the Elementalist dying as soon as an enemy even looks at him.
-At the start of dungeon 3 (the Dredge dungeon) the Elementalist has to leave, so we're with 4 people now. After a party wipe we figure out how to progress.
-Get to the final boss. Takes a while to find out what to do.
-After finally knowing what to do we have 1 person go to the bathroom for 10 minutes in the middle of the boss fight, so we are left with 3 people.
-Person finally comes back, have another one disconnect from the game.
-Figure out we could do it with 3 people anyway.
-Another person dies. The rest dies. Boss reset.

Well, that was a waste of time. At least I got... 15 tokens this morning.

So the event was a lagfest the investigation is bugged, drops are bind on acquire in hte dungeon....

GJ anet once again instead of fixing the game more buggy / plain bad content was released. And some of the atrocious bugs that have been here since beta are still here.

Yes, but there is a bright side to this. The PvE community is getting a taste of what the WvW players have been complaining about since BWE2 in combating lag, invisible enemies and rendering/culling. Wonder if the PvE side will adopt survival stack/turtle tactics to be able to play in this environment???? Since the best you can do in that situation is keep spamming auto attack trying to get a target.
Maybe now that a larger percentage of the population has experienced it Anet will finally do something about it????

If you think this is bad, wait till later.  I am pretty sure many pugs will demand infused ascended items, regardless of whether they really need them or not.  It is the same pattern all over again.

Yep it will end up just like in WoW when they started up the weekly raid boss. You had people wanting full tier 10 raid gear, for a tier 7 raid.

I missed all of yesterday, and I might miss all of today and will miss all of Sunday, maybe I will get hit with a hurricane and get the event extended. So I will be so far behind doubt there will be much chance I will see any of this. To the people saying get a good guild to run it, send me an invite. The one good guild I had all the officers and regular players went back to panda's, and guilds I have tried since then have all been to afraid to talk in guild chat.

Honestly, ArenaNet should just release the hunger royale game again. All my friends loved it, the gw2 community loved it, ArenaNet doesn't think so apparently.

Word.  Things like this was why I left WoW.  Checked the GW2 server population today, and not a single server was full.  Pretty much a good indication on how popular this is.

Not a single server was full because they (temporarily) increased the server capacity to allow for the "refer a friend" mechanic.

Well... i have to say few things. I did the event, the chain and i've liked a lot how it has been all assembled. If we put to a side de Noll bug (which has been repaired) the event is not bad. I've had lots of fun with my friends constructing the roads at the island and feeling i was doing something to the world, seeing wood cutters cutting the trees and staying cut was a great little detail.

Ever so, the event has been a success for me and my friends. I like alot dinamic events such as this big ones.

Tomorrow more :)

From OP's point:
1. Agreed it's a annoying that it's stuck, at least they extended the time for it though.
2. New dungeon seems cool. You have to remember though, the whole point of it is for pve groups to do dungeon progression, not really for random pick up groups to troll around in.
3. Look fine to me, really a matter of personal taste.
and I'll add a point of my own
4. They really need to find a way to help players keep track in these events. Maybe do a something like the green star for personal story, but with a separate -insert color here- star instead, that's there just for the event.

Overall the events themselves are fun and interesting. Thumbs up from me.

They just don't begin showing their ultra-sharp teeth until after 60, and not everyone has the patience to take one that far.

The concepts are epic, and I love the ideas behind the events and new content, but the quality assurance is absolutely atrocious. Broken events, bugged NPCs and blocked quest chains are the rule, rather than the exception.

If GW2 was a crappy game, I honestly wouldn't mind, because it would be easy to move on and take it for what it was worth. But the fact that it's truly the best game I've ever played makes the fact that it is so rife with major bugs all the more heartbreaking.

Here's hoping the good people of ArenaNet get their act together soon and bring the quality of the game mechanics up to match the superb quality of the content.

As it is, they are failing to live up to the high standards they have set for themselves, and both we and they know they can do better.
