Just a few days ago, after having run countless dungeons, multiple 80's, and hundreds of hours in WvW, I began looking over my friends list and regardless of how many (or few, not sure how many you guys have) friends I had, didn't really find I had a connection with any of them.

So question...Is GW2 (be it the game or community) a difficult place to make friends and actually meet new people and acquaintances?

All the dungeons seem to be pretty stale, everyone already zombie modes them, so there's not much interaction except when you need to organize something like "I kite boss" or "2 in 3 out".

I've met probably 5 or 6 people that have joined my guild and have a connection with =s Idk... Even thought most dungeons don't require that much I still talk, I can normally start up at least a small conversation between a few people in my dungeon group, even if it's by spouting off random stuff hyperly xD

First mmo was The Realm in 1996. GW2 is the game I have made the least amount of new friends since then. There is just nothing to do that requires a close group. Everything can be pugged and the rest is just run around Orr and farm events in a mass zerg.

Pretty much my feeling, I agree you can maybe try and start some small talk, but so much of this is just..."easy come easy go" group. Game then maybe?

I've made temporary friends sure. We start a dungeon with a simple introduction and by the end we're friends, but then it's the usual "Thanks a lot for the run guys, have fun!" I've made a few consistent friends, but nothing compared to the peeps I met in GW1. I'll still give it time because I accumulated my GW1 friends over 7 years, but normally MMOs are at their most social in the beginning....

Try Fractals. They require a good group.

So... one needs to be forced by the system to make friends... with you?

I started GW1 solo and played pretty much to the desert alone.  There I met a group and we did the desert together and then latter the SF runs.  We formed a guild.  That guild [Rare] has been together almost 7 years now and we reformed for GW2.  17 out the 25 came back and that's how we started.  Since then, I pugged 1 or 2 dungeons and met a few folks that we liked each other's playstyles and friended each other.  Then instead of pugging, we called on each other first, do more dungeons together.  Since then, the [Apes] have been in my guild and I in theirs (as we had other friends too).  We call on each other regulary for anything now.

TLDR:  Old friends helped me get started in GW2, but dungeon running brought me new ones, and with their powers combined......

I AM CAPTAIN PLANET.
