As for me I would say that's not enough and I don't really care about water combat, especially in PvP. And it seems everyone prefers land combat.
What do you think. Maybe it would be better if Anet would have been just focused on land combat to make it much better than it is instead of wasting time on water combat that no one likes (I assume that most of players do not like, but would be great if moderators could make a poll to see how many people like and do not like water combat).

That being said, the underwater areas do look amazing most of the time.

On topic, I prefer this water combat than just simply swimming and using crappy abilities.

This is a game of maneuver and dodging neither work very well underwater.
One on one and small numbers are fine but its been said its just spam skills.
Large numbers are a pain because the computer knows exactly where I am in 3D and precisely where to move and aim and it can do these calculations very fast.
I have to look around and see the enemies.
Its worth putting up with it because of the exploration which is great.

Thanks. Thrice is one of my favorite bands
On Topic.
I'm wondering if Anet actually enjoys water combat, because I find that hard to believe.

Half my skills are gone, my Elite skill becomes restricted, my damage is reduced by half and my headgear is switched to the poor excuse of armor offered by a random karma merchant. In HotW, both the underwater bosses become excruciatingly boring due to this.
I'd ask for a fix, but I know that ain't going to happen.

I think its pretty well-done in general, but there's a very nice touch I really liked from WoW's Vash'jr underwater zone - we get back on our feet at the bottom of the sea and move with bounding strides.
More importantly, we get back our ground based camera swivel lock and combat movement can once again be on a single plane.
It would be a really, really nice feature to have in the much richer underwater content GW2 has.

i like everything so far about GW2's water combat except the vulnerability while swimming on the surface.
I regularly use the water to cliff dive and shake of incessant WvW chasers....

But there's definitely a LOT of room for improvement in the combat department. Too many of the professions have NO underwater elites, which is an uneven handicap, and many of the underwater weapons are generally not as powerful as their abovewater counterparts.
If they were to polish up underwater combat and make it feel as complete and smooth as combat on land, more people would enjoy it.

It's executed well enough, but it's not fun, it screws over your current build most of the time, and the general control is just awkward.
Also see; classes with a bunch of ground-target utilities becoming useless.
I generally avoid water best I can.

All the underwater weapon skills kinda suck. And the many situational ones are quite frankly, useless.
Grenades underwater are amazing thought, even after the speed nerf.
