+ boon durarion worth it?

Hi all,

So I am running a d/d aura build in pve and pvp. My build is centered around having boons up by activiting 2 aura's on d/d. So is it worth it to use the runes: of monk and water I use 2 rune of monk and 2 of water becuase then I get like 30%boon duration.

But the difference isn't that much actually it is just a few seconds so is it worth it using those runes?

owh and 1 more question the sigil of superior battle gives you 3 stacks of might for 20 seconds does this also work for elementalist? Becuase else I can switch attunement 4 times and get 12 stacks of might is a bit op I think..

I wouldn't equip them for the aura part of it, but the 2 monk, 2 water, 2 fire is definitely a strong choice, and what I run. honestly, the aura build isn't very strong in PvP, as you sacrifice too much to try and keep it up. Put 10 points into air to get that fury+swiftness and leave it at that. If you're talking about aura share, then your boon duration won't affect anyone else's.

Short answer: Yes, it's worth it.

Keeping your boons up is one of the most important parts of playing an ele effectively. I use 2x superior water, 2x major water, 2x superior monk and 20 (before the 11/15 patch 30) in arcana. Add in the +20% boon duration food and you've nearly doubled the duration of your boons.

With that much + boon duration you can keep regeneration, swiftness, fury, vigor, and might up for 100% of a typical fight and protection for a pretty good chunk of it if you throw up your auras (earth trait V grants 5 1/2 seconds of protection) and swap to earth on a regular basis (arcana trait V grants almost 8 seconds of protection). Keeping protection up is like having 50% more vitality and healing, which is really nice and lets you build more glassy without instantly falling over dead when people look at you funny. As an added bonus, if you go  25 points into water it gives you +2% damage per boon so you will generally have +12% damage in every fight without sacrificing survivability.

My current build is 0 10 I 10 V 30 III IX XI 20 V VI with pvt armor, the above runes, zerker/zerker accessories, and zerker daggers with bloodlust and energy. I'm generally happy with it. I gave up ~20% crit chance, and +36% crit damage over a pure glass cannon build (30/20/0/0/20 and zerker/zerker) and I'm probably 3x more survivable now while still doing pretty solid damage (7-9k firegrab vs 11-13k with the pure damage build).

I am building an aura share set to run int eh front line for WvW with my guardians.  I just finished the terribly boring AC runs in order to finish this set, so for me it was worth it to do that at least.  It is disappointing to know that the duration is not shared as well but I will still need the prot and fury uptime to be high for my build to be effective particularly b/c I am running mostly p/v/t gear.  If you are curious try it out.

Small question concerning +boon duration. I am running with 30 arcane and 2 major runes of the water, 2 superior runes of the water and 2 major runes of the monk, which should net me +65% boon duration. Shouldn't the protection boon from, say, the armor of earth skill last for 16,5 seconds then? Because when I use the skill it clearly lasts only 10 seconds and the other boons as well. Known bug or intended?

Well 6*1.65 = 9.9.

Sigil of battle does indeed work but it has a higher cd for elementalists swapping attunements than it does for other professions. Can't remember the exact amount though.

Then the time in the tooltip already factors in the runes, alright. I thought the base duration was 10 seconds.
