Hello.

Long story short: everything in the game is expensive. I'm having a hard time getting a good amount of gold for things like T3 racial armors or now the ascended things. My two crafting jobs aren't at 400, also because it costs lot of money to level them and I kinda get exasperated.

I have a full exotic set.

5 pieces with Superior Rune of the Traveler for 10%, 15%, 25% magic find

1 piece with Superior Rune of the pirate for +10% magic find

1 weapon with superior sigil of luck, for +0.6% magic find per kill up to 25 for 15%

And I also eat +~30% magic find food.

For a total of 75% magic find (or 105% if I eat something get all my kills with my weapon)... I think.

I ran the fractal of the mist yesterday, got only a bunch of green/blue. I spend lot of time with Plinxx or the tunnel at the Cursed Shore, still a bunch of green and lots of blue. I got lucky only once by getting 3 rares and it was because I found a 10% chance for rare item guild banner... But it never happened again, even if I reused the banner.

I know that if I want to be very lucky, I should have > 100% magic find, but I don't know what else to wear or to use to get better things. I never got above 10 gold and I'm tired of being poor lol. My objectives to get the T3 Asura armor, along with now the ascended items (and someday a legendary) seem further everyday. :|

So, anything else I should wear/do? What's the fastest way to earn gold?

Thanks!

Well, there's opal jewelry that will give 6-7 magic find each.

DR kicks in after about 70 minutes in the same zone so you have to log for about an hour for it to reset.

Some 1 else can explain the diminishing return mechanic.

I never farmed long enough to hit DR I think. I'm just unlucky I guess?

Grinding for money is something I find very boring, so therefor I just don't do it.

Pulling out that creditcard and buying gems to trade for gold is fast and easy.

I understand that not everyone has a lot of money they can or are willing to spend on game currency.

From my point of view I rather do things I find fun in the game when I play because I'm bored enough at work and make enough that spending som on gold isn't a problem. PVE farming would be like having another (worse) job and that is not entertainment.

As for farming I guess putting on mf gear and grinding in cursed for drops/gold hoping to have good luck or grinding dungeons are the general method, but I'd rather not :/

I also don't like gold farming, but everything is expensive. If I want to have the look I want (T3 Asura racial), I'll have to get 119 gold... And that's only for a Rare set.
An ascended backpack? 50 ecto, 250 vicious claws, 40 crystals... The first two is at least 20 gold. I expect the ascended armor/weapon to be similar, if not more (which is why people complained about their addition, but that's another debate).

In the end, I'll need gold eventually, but if the only way is to hope by spending hours in cursed shore or in dungeon, then it's really a shame :-|

There are many things you can farm.

You can farm rares and general vendorable items (cursed shore)
You can farm lodestones (all over the places, but very unreliable)
You can farm t5/6 fine crafting materials (in frostgorge among others)

A person with average to low luck would still be making a couple of gold per hour.

At the moment I think dungeons are actually a pretty good way to make gold, especially with their improved drops.  HOTW, in particular, normally gives 2-4g for a full clear (that should take 1-2 hours depending on how good your group is.)  The gold rate is a bit lower than farming DEs in CS but that's a price I'm more than happy to pay in return for a much more fun experience.

as aetou said above, I've found that running dungeons is the most fun way to make gold.  is it going to get you the most gold per hour?  probably not.  but if you focus on running CoF, HotW, and CoE, you can salvage the rares from the token merchants for ecto (unless this got changed recently, haven't had a lot of time to play lately), not to mention the odd lodestone here and there plus any other rare drops.

map clearing also nets a good amount, especially in top-level zones.  a bunch of top-tier crafting mats, exotics from the clear, any drops from the zone, etc.  I got about 3 gold from clearing frostgorge just from doing the hearts, merching crap drops, TPing the final exotics from the clear, and I didn't even get worthwhile crafting mats (food  ) or mined every tree and ore pile I found.  had I mined and sold all the mithril and elder wood I probably would have made another 1-2g.

I am wondering about this too as I'm a 4-gold poor person. I see the best bags are 10g each and I feel like I'll never get them. 100g sounds like a dream. Best I got also was 10gold. I have no idea how to farm + I've got full MF armor too.

Farming tokens for ectos still works, I've been using my spare Charr carvings just for that and I have been able to collect quite a few for my mystic clovers. In the process of making my clovers, I actually got 20 Corrupted lodestones and doubled the money that I would have spent on my ectos o_o;
