Hey guys! I just bought the halloween  shield and I love it! Sadly so far I've used only GS/Axes to pve/solo. Can any of you suggest me any build with Sword/shield or maybe axe shield? I want it to be good for soloing tbh.

Edit: Looks like I would look more for an axe+shield/GS build, since with sword soloing would be kinda slow I think..

You shouldn't have to look far for an axe/shield + GS build, they're everywhere

If you just want to troll mobs like say the new Karkas, go with mace/sheild, full toughness/HP traiting and be sure to pick reflect on block. You'll kill those bastard crabs faster than a greatsword glass cannon while loosing zero HP, lol.

Axe/sheild will offer higher auto-attack dps, but you loose so much utility its barely worth it on a defensive build. If you want dps, you dont want the sheild and should go axe/mace and more dps oriented build.

Mixing two melee weapons isnt going to get you anywhere, since weapon swapping will remove all damage of the other set (unless you go sword/sword bleed build). The utility a bow/rifle offer is a million times better (the bow can also give you burning while you use the melee weapon). Especially since you are rarely offered the chance to trait two types of melee weapons in the same build, other traits will take priority.

So there is no point using a shield as a warrior then? Since I would be way too defensive and kinda hard to solo. I mean It woulda take too long to solo. :(

Edit:

I just made this build -> http://gw2skills.net...oIgOKoip0DyQLNA
Seems Ok to me even tho there is no ranged wep I will always have one in my bag when needed. I love being a melee. Also I will use the banner only when I'm in dungeons otherwise I will use the signet

since the leech sigil is not working I tested the battle one (might on swap)

you are able to get 100% uptime on 25 stacks of might with this... alone, with zero support from other players, with no more than 1 set of %boon duration runes, maybe even without the superior one but the major one

did they mention when they are going to fix leeching btw? I believe its the better sigil of choice because you are squishy after all, you really have to rely on your group... in Pugs there no healer/support hybirds 90% of the time.

the only way to improve survivability is traiting 20/0/0/30/20 and go for shouts.

I never said that. I said there is no point with it if you are using an offensive build. Of course you CAN still use the sheild. It in itself isnt "too defensive". An axe/axe berserker will do similar damage to an axe/sheild berserker. Little lower, but not that much it matters.

You just wont see as much use for the sheild as if you would have traited for it. There is no such thing as taking too long to kill in GW2 - in most PvE scenarios survivability beat dps. Its not a dps race. Well, not that often.
