Tip to Anet - design the jumping puzzles so that the bulk of them (and particularly the chest) are out of range of mesmer-port.
It kind of cheapens the reward chest when mesmers get to the end and are bulk-porting people up for the chest.

Just sayin'.

+1, and then fix any cheats that let players skip half the puzzle. I was the only person out of my group of friends that was able to do the puzzle yesterday, and then I ran it a second time just to rub it in. Now theyve all got the achievement, but not a one of them actually did the puzzle without cheating :/

I love having mesmer portals for those who dislike jumping puzzles. So much so that I have camped my mesmer there just to portal other players like myself that detest jumping puzzles. The sheer amount of "omg ty sooo much!" that I hear is testament to the power of relief of frustration that portals have.

For those who like the puzzles and the sense of accomplishment they get from them portals in no way hinder one's ability to do so normally. The only thing that portals may hurt is someone's selfishness and that I have zero problems with harming.

btw: I finished the puzzle 2 times b4 I found out about the portal deal....1st time I tried to portal ppl from the wrong place and died from the fall so I had to redo it all over. The second time I found the right spot.....then after that I found out about the shortcut

Took me about thirty minutes again, much like the Halloween clock tower. Harder at the start from players competing for space, but easy after the initial jumping section at the start.

I did it once legit and then a second time with the assistance of a mesmer because um... why not?  I'm not sure what you guys consider so rewarding about the chest.  All I got was straight up merchant fodder.  I'm not sure how you can cheapen the reward any further than that.

I completed it with my mesmer since its alot easier with portal. BTW, did you know there's actually 2 chests? If you cross over the ship wreckage onto the island, there's another chest guarded by a champion.

You can skip most of it. In the second area of "jumping stones" there's a spot you can wall hug yourself up.

Doesn't look that hard then again I thought the mad kings clock tower was easy and people complained about that thing. On my way to do this one now.

The tower was twice as hard as this. This one is too easy. The other one is even easier. I mean it took me maybe 45 seconds for the other one. Keep making them hard anet, give us a challenge.

its kind of like the sage/inquisitor ally pull skill for the datacrons.  let's be honest here, that was damn helpful though.

Mesmer's need the portal. It's how they are making up for everything in GW1.

BLAH BLAH BLAH...this is a fantasy MMORPG, not a platform game fir JP's like mario etc., JP's have no right being between stuff unless it's a chest, if it's just a chest, yes i see it being an issue.

Sorry but you only speak your opinion. I for one think they can be between stuff and don't see it as bad. And why wouldn't MMOs be good for JPs? MMOs are pretty big and undefined yet because the term is just too wide.

JPs are pretty awesome and i applaud them for bringing them and adding more of them.

I only wish the new puzzles would lean more towards thought-provoking problem solving and execution.

The rushed reflex style we are seeing since clocktower is not what I would call a puzzle, just a fancy timed obstacle course.

Because many people don't consider the chest the reward, successfully navigating the jumping puzzle and having fun while doing so is the reward.  It's the same reason that many of us didn't use the warp zones in Mario 1,2,3, we liked playing the levels.  To each his/her own though, if you're not into the platforming I don't see a problem with skipping it, play the game the way you like.

I gave up on the puzzle, way to much fun killing karkas and the chest at the end of the puzzle definitely would not give what the chest at the end of the event gave.  That was super awesome.  My peeps were really pleased.

People were talking about mesmers cheapening the reward chest.  :P

I love jump puzzles!  Getting to the end and seeing the achievement notification pop up was more rewarding for me than the chest.  That's why I make it a point to always do them myself the first time.  After that it's pretty much just repeating it for the chest and I don't see the harm in getting assistance from a mesmer at that point if there's one around.  I don't think I have received anything useful or decent from any of the jump puzzle chests aside from the ones in WvW.
