Just wondering how far has everyone got?
We started this morning and got to difficulty so far 11 (had to repeat 2 rounds twice due to DC).

So far one shotting everything, but agony is starting to look nasty. Some of the group have got ascended rings last run, but havent socketed them yet. Anybody knows how the resistance works?

I'll make progress when the dungeon stops crashing the game.

I first investigated the swamp fractal and this was my experience;

1.  I'm told to go collect wisps & bring them back to their pedestals or some crap.  I'm like ok, another gopher fed ex style quest doesn't look that hard since the icons for the wisps are only a short distance away.

2.  Oh, the ground is pretty much covered with unavoidable traps that knockdown, cripple, immobolize & random champion and boss mobs that appear and respawn all while trying to be a wisp federal ex delivery boy.  Fun stuff !!

3.  At this point I begin to use what little grey matter I have left upstairs & decide "This isn't worth it."  Unlike all the other completionists who slug through poorly designed content for crumbs.

4.  I left & went to do something else that didn't make me wanna punch the screen.

Traps are hardly unvoidable (hense the achievement). I suggest a trip to the opticians.....

I've done the fractals below, but I'll start off by saying that I can't get past level 1 because I can't get a group that doesn't collectively suck or have at least 1 person DC.  drops have been mediocre at best with 0 MF.

-swamp: can't get past first part, couldn't find a group that could synchronize themselves with the timer and get it done.  I never had a problem with my wisp soloing as a warrior, but no one else in the group could get back with someone else trailblazing the path for them.

-svanir: first experience was good, group figured it out and lit all the fires and we got through it pretty fast as a 4 man (someone DC'd at the turret).  second group was horrible, people couldn't figure out that you had to keep the fires lit and I essentially soloed the turret.  4 manned the final boss again because someone kept dying at the turret because he kept aggoing 2-4 elementals despite me telling him not to, so I left him dead and moved on.

-colossus: 4 manned it first time through, went pretty well.  second time the ground glitched and I died on an unaccessable ledge, and the group collectively crashed during loading of the next fractal.

-dredge: group couldn't figure out final boss for ~10 minutes, then half the group DC'd.  never completed

-ascalon: 4 man group, game crashed while trying to take down the gate because of 6 barrages and a few firestorms from other mobs and the other WvW siege weapon effects.

really hope my guild fixes their DC problems and starts running this more, because I'm tired of pubbing this dungeon.  I've had better experiences with a 4 man guild group than I have with any 5 man pub I've tried.

Currently at lv 11.
Haven't figured out how resistance vs agony works yet.
But for now I won't really need it, since agony chews only 20-25% of my health away ( unless stacked like 3 times ).

  • You clearly see the traps on the ground.

  • There are things called "skills" which help you complete content like this.

  • If you can't complete anything within first try you quit? :P
I'm at lvl5, wasn't able to play saturday & sunday. And so far having a very good time!
2 things I'm always afraid to face with PUG's: swamp and underwater part.
Cause those can be nasty when PUG's are not reliable, but I was also pleasantly surprised when at lvl4 my PUG team completed the swamp in 2 tries, so exceptions exist! :)

So far everything is pretty easy, looking forward to Agony and a real challenge. :)

I got to level 2, but that's only because I never started at a higher level than 1. I would've made it to 3 if it had been possible to keep our group together for 6 consecutive fractals at least once. I don't think I'll ever start at a higher level than 1. I don't see the point.

At 10 in starts in a stack of 5. 5 res = cancels it out.

So your "grey matter" couldn't handle the content and thus deemed it "poorly designed"?

Swamp is one of the easiest fractals in the game. You can avoid traps, you can avoid boss. You can avoid 99% stuff there. What makes it poorly designed? Your inability to complete it which is clearly your fault and your groups or what ?

Poor design would be that it completely obliterates the design manifesto Anet advertised this game as... off my soap box now.

On level 4, PUG'ed every stage so far (different group each time) and cleared on first go each time.

Even on the colossus fractal, where I fell through the ground and another team mate bugged into a wall or some such,s till managed to finish it.

Bugging through the ground was annoying, but was fun exploring all the fractals and seeing all the crap the dev's couldn't be bothered to remove/tidy.
