Worth coming back, or is the game still bad?

What "social" is there to do?
I had about 70% map completion just from hitting 80 - so I don't know how much exploring is really left.
I'm more of a PvP player, I don't care about PVE treadmills. The PvP in GW2 was just so boring, I'd rather play DAoC, WoW, GW1, or MOBA's like LoL and SMITE. Heck, even Allods is more enjoyable PVP than GW2.

To those that are knocking WoW(not that I play the game): GW2 is more of a 24/7 grindfest than an actual game, WoW's PvE was about the thrill of adventures and the dangers of alliance vs horde ambushes and towns. GW2 does not offer anything, besides grind.

Stop trying to de-rail threads.
OT: You sound to me like the PvP type guy, and since this game has no monthly fee, I'd encourage you to check back ever 2 months or so. Last month PvP got a big kick under its rump with paid tournaments and a better browser, but it still sounds like it's not your preference. This month features a new map, and rumor has it new gamemodes are in the making. I'd encourage you to check it out once, and if not, hold off until mid-December.

It's a worse version of what DAoC offers.
Voice-comms with cool ppl who're making coordinated attacks like portal bombs, flanks, golem rushes to deter an overpowered zerg's numbers from one place, etc... I don't think the voice comm element was around in the DaOC days to the extent it is now... nor would it have made as much of a difference in real time given how sensitive the game mechanics are to different combat situations.
It's an MMO, so... its all about who you play with, right? WvW has the most dedicated end-gamers. FInd the right guild--- with the right players, and you can do amazing things with game mechanics as well as have a hilarious time creating a rapport with them... having spent hours fighting uneven odds together.
If you're interested in giving it a whirl, PM me and I can set you up. I say this because I know where you're coming from... if I hadn't found my particular guild... I would've shut off GW2 as well. I've no love for much of the PvE elements.
It's the little things that can change the game for you. I could go on and on about this point but, if you've made up your mind then, well.. GL to ya

I think that I can offer a balanced opinion that is neither all complaint nor all praise. The things that were fun about the game at launch are still fun. If you enjoy exploring, dungoneering, or PvP, then there's still a game here for you to play even if you ignore the new content. The game still has many of the problems that it had before, though, and if you were not previously entertained, then nothing that's been added recently will likely improve the game for you.
As always, GW2 is a game better played with one or more like-minded partners, same as GW1. I had quit playing GW1 for a long while and then picked it back up again to play together with my wife. We continue to enjoy playing GW2 together. If you feel inclined to get back into it, finding a partner or a guild would help. Otherwise, I'd say there's nothing special to draw you back.

There's still a heavy tax on everything you do (getting heavier by the day). The AI is still as dumb as bricks (oh for AI like in Mass Effect 3's multi-player). The combat is still as slow as treacle. The armour still clips. The professions are still broken. The movement speed is still equally as painfully slow. The events still feel copy-pasted. And worse, they're now adding a treadmill to make the game feel more fun (for the poor, weak-minded sods who actually fall for operant conditioning).
This is from someone who bought into the ideals of GW2 and was disappointed. If you're wondering about my tastes: I like GW1, ME3's MP, and I dislike WoW. I'm not a fan of grind, or things that are pedantic and painfully sloth-like just for the sake of it. I like fun. Right now, GW2 isn't fun. In fact, it's so depressingly unfun that I can't even be hyped about the charr any more. I actually feel kind of shitty, as I'm having to sit here and watch ArenaNet run this game into the ground.
It's not a pleasant thing to watch. I'm wondering what ill-advised decision they'll make next.
