The game was never bad. You need to do other things then just grinding

As a wise guy once said here, you can get a person out of WoW but you can't get WoW out of the person.
People who keep seeing grinds/treadmills in everything will never enjoy GW2 or any other game until they remove WoW from their heads.

My honest opinion is: your time is better invested somewhere else.

I got my 60 dollars refund two days ago, wish I had this option back when I bought AoC or WAR

Correction, they added a new tier of gear to take the place of what Exotics were meant to be and have said they have no intention of adding any other tiers to turn it into a typical treadmill/grind.  Even if they eventually add increased the level cap and add new tiers for that, it still wouldn't be gear grind.  What they've done is currently no different from the difference between Rare -> Exotic gear.  Everything else being said is wild speculation and hyperbole.

But if you don't enjoy the game, then I obviously wouldn't recommend you play it.  It's not a game for everyone, but the PVP features will probably develop more in the coming months.

Well imo nothing really much changed if you didn't think it all that enjoyable.
We have some new dungeons and new gear grind. Well ..

Hun .. (s)he wasn't the one that started posting about (the absence of) gear grind so not the one "derailing" either.

I don't quite understand people who don't like the game, who aren't even playing the game, are even on a fan forum of that game. I could think of a whole lot of better things to do with my time.

Fractals are quite fun and you are scale up to do them once you get to LA, but that may only last until the special event is over. The new zone is decent too with a few jumping puzzles and other new things to explore.

Baloney and the interpretation of people who seem to have very narrow fixation about WoW. ANet isn't trying to *force* grind... hell they just gave out a bunch of precursor weapons at the event. They balance both sides of it from the super casual to the nerdy nerds that want a little something.

Well Brave Defender of Holy ANet,

GW1 didn't have gear grind, stats wise. Halfways the game you got, the rest was merely cosmetics.
IN GW2 it took several days, weeks, perhaps months to get your full exotics and superior runes, especially if you also want a MF set.
Legendaries were purely cosemtic until ANet changed it, and now they changed it again so we have 2 tiers above exotic.
"Best stats gear" in GW2 isn't affordable for the average player (I don't have it either) and a lot of players will never have it.

And yes, they don't have plans to add more tiers. For now. Well, we know that ANet always does what they say, don't they?

I do not defend everything that Anet does and the fact you're trying to peg anyone who has anything positive to say about the game as a zealous fanboy destroys any credibility your argument might have had.  It's no different than dismissing every negative comment as being trolling.  If you want to argue this point, do it without the inane insults.

I agree that the gear structure is not as good as it was in GW1, but this isn't GW1 and like I said, the introduction of Ascended isn't much different from what we already had from Rare -> Exotic.  The assumption that everything is just going to get worse is exactly that, an assumption.

All subjective opinion isn't it? Who can convince you to stay away or to come back other than yourself? Check up the update notes, then play it for yourself and see.

There's things I like about this game and things I don't like about it. Not going to go into the specifics because it'd just add fuel to the fire, and there's plenty of it already elsewhere. That said I still play the game. It is better value than any game I've bought thus far. If they stopped updating the game today, it'd feel a little unfinished, but I'll still be very happy with it.

Anyways, instead of wondering and theorycrafting on a forum, go play the game. You don't have to renew any subscription, it's going to be faster to see if you want to play the game than the listen to others that of course have a biased opinion.

And for those going into theory crafting mode and what not : log in and play the game to see if you still like playing it...it's a game, not a lifetime investment. Stop creating barriers and complaints that don't even affect what you do in a game, like someone complaining about PvE (or PvP) when they don't care at all about it, or someone who complaints about gear grind when they aren't even at a point in a game where gear grind is even a concern...

You're the troll here not Dulu, he only asked a simple question.

On Topic:

This thread is kinda pointless as we all know it will just turn into a debate on GW2 features. Like any other game GW2 has it's good and bads, even GW1 had in that matter.

The game is fun when you have regular friends/people to play with but playing alone can be terribly boring sometimes. Updates wise the game just got a bit better, better droprates and more dungeons, events to do and areas to explore so it might be worth checking it out again, I know a few friends doing the same.

However like I said earlier, if you're playing solo it will probably get boring again after a while.

In the end it all depends on your play style. Give it a shot and you'll probably like it the second time.

I thought my comment was pertinent, although I should have elaborated:

There is now, since the Lost Shore patch, a drive to obtain gear for stat/performance purposes and not just cosmetic. If anyone disliked that the game did not offer statistical advantages for putting in exorbitant amounts of time, they might find this to be welcome news and they can jump right into that content now.

OP having a Warcraft avatar, this might be of particular interest since it more closely resembles that game...and certainly applies to changes in the game since they last played. Although the sPvP changes would probably interest them more...

im going to relay my SWTOR experience because i think it pertains to the topic:

i felt the same way after about 3 months of SWTOR.  we all know the TORtanic story.  get to level 50 and literally nothing to do except sit in a pvp queue. blah blah blah.

so you know what i did? i quit.  i canceled my sub, i didnt write anything in the forums, i just quit cold turkey.

i quit for about 3 months.  in htat time i played Battlefield 3, Rift and The Secret World.  all three of those games i love.  TSW is well thought out and quite amazing, Rift is an AMZING game, in fact if it werent for the subscription fee, id still be playing it, especially with storm legion - but rift was AMAZING 10/10 experience, and of course BF3 was BF3, great fps.

but there ws something missing.  something that only swtor had.  i eventually went back after patch 1.3 and i found myself enjoying the content more, the feel of the game was polished and tight, and most importantly, appreciated it more.

well 2 months later, i quit again.  not because i was upset with the game, but because i knew the game was going f2p and because GW2 was out and because my wife refused to play it.  but ot this day, i feel like as of patch 1.3, swtor is where it needed to be finally - and i feel like i left on good terms.

the moral of this story/TL:DR - if you are truly unhappy with a game, take your losses and give the game a break and come back when you feel like you will appreciate the game more.  how will you know?  when you start missing it, when every game you play makes you miss/want something from it.  thats when you know that when you come back, you will appreciate what that game is and what it does.

that being said, GW2 has been out just under 3 months.  i think, if you left after a month of play or more - barely 3 months after launch isnt going to be enough time for you to come back and feel like some fantastic changes were made to improve your gaming experience.

but then again, GW2 is a true gem amoungst rocks, there is a certain flare about it that no other game does.

The game hasnt change so much since launch to alter gameplay. So if you got bored some time ago you will probably still be.
As for "how good the game is" its all personal preferences. For me BF3 is boring, but i would never say its bad game. Just not my style.

From the other side, GW is "box game", you already bought it, you dont need to buy any update, or pay sub. When i want to come back to Skyrim i generally do not jump to any forum to ask "Hi folks, do you think i should install Skyrim again and give it another shot?".

As a side note, you may try running another race with different proffesion (if you have no 8x80 yet) .

the game is down to personal opinion...as for community relations, they are a joke:

Attached File  f this, f you, f that.jpg   86.32K   57 downloads

they showed they couldn't care less, until you actually get angry with them and call them on it, and frankly, there CSR's on facebook/twitter can show similar attitude and handle it appallingly.

and face it, GW1=if it bugged like this, we'd be given second chances, not the typical couldn't careless responses we get from the blizzard employee's they replaced the gw1 staff with.

and if this last event wasn't bugged enough, the game is 75% of the better time.

i have gone back to gw1 for now...i'll see how they handle this and if they give us another chance, or just ignore us and give every1 at the chest their reward's...atleast they got to attend the battle..i was D/C'ed dead on 12pm server time(7am CST australia) and couldnt log bag on for more then 15 seconds before the game crashed again this lasted 4hours beofre i had a stable connection...then i get back to the game for every1 to repeat "it was ONE time only",,, now if that aint enough to deter people, the callus reply should. .

You rage, he doesn't take the bait, you rage some more, he throws you a bone because you are acting like a child and you call their service a joke? You are the only joke here. I understand that dealing with issues that you have no direct control over can be frustrating, but companies can't always just magically fix all of your issues- sometimes they take time to address everyone at once with a blanket fix as to accommodate a common issue (such as yours). Also you must just play on the day of events because 75% of this game is not bugged. One time events are meant to reward the dedicated and create special point of reference and memory for players- and believe it or not some players like one time events.

I'm tired of intellectual dishonesty. Bethesda can't force a patch into your game where you absolutely need to grind for gear to unlock new content. ArenaNet can. That's a pretty solid reason for asking whether it's worth coming back or not.

I really am seeing ArenaNet fanboys at the moment as massive, self-mocking straw-men whose ability to crank out fallacy after fallacy, laden with intellectual dishonesty, is second to none. Is the desire to delude yourself so very, very profound? :I

Don't attack the guy for wanting to know.

So true. Too many can't even think for themselves and pretend it's some kind of systemic injustice. It's getting quite sad that so many people can't take responsibilty for their own opinions and emotions and instead try to shove it down everyone else's throat like the world can't turn unless we all agree with their opinion 100%.

worth reading post or are members still mad?

Seriously though, if you didn't like the game before you probably wont like it now.

I would LOVE it if all the people that apparently "quit the game" because they supposedly "hate it" would go ahead and "quit" these forums.  I like trolling the front page popular topics and I'm getting depressed that stuff like this keeps showing up.
