I can't speak for the poster I quoted but personally I'm a PvE player, former GW player.
What's a good challenge and what's not? It's a matter of taste I guess. DE's where the main challenge is to tag a mob before it's devoured by the zerg definitely isn't a "good" challenge, if any at all. I also don't find instant death traps, dodging red circles and billion+ hp bosses in dungeons good challenges either. Grinding legendaries and ascended gear instead of cosmetics is also very disappointing. Running around maps to get your POIs and vistas isn't a challenge either, because it doesn't require any skill, in the end it's just a time grind.
What I really miss most of all is FoW like dungeons where teamwork and player skill matters more than the rest.
Because popping consets, keeping SF up, balling some enemies and using sliver armor required skill??

Look I played GW1 for multiple thousands of hours, but please don't go the "GW1 was much harder" way, GW1 PvE was jus as faceroll as GW2 PvE is now.
The only real challenge in GW1 was Sorrow's Furnace in the first few months, that's it.
And "player skill matters more than the rest." is quite funny if you remember how people were forced to use a zeaulous scythe of enchanting, a earth staff of enchanting and a zeaulous spear of enchanting with a shield vs fire dmg/piercing dmg.
I did FoW/UW countless times on my warrior/ritu/monk/sin, it was one the parts I enjoyed most (apart from GvG), but it was also piss easy..

Too bad most of the players dont know what fow or uw was. Or if they do and they played gw1 they couldn't get in a team because they were bad.
Or they remember it was just as easy as the dungeons in GW2 now?
