Yeah and let's farm FoW/UW and SoO for a couple more years! Just like we did since EotN came out!!
And lets play the same holliday event every year again!
So much more fun!

/sarcasm

Lol, I played GvG and HA mate. I have no idea what you PvE scrubs did in that game.

I remember the first 2-3 years of GW1, where LOADS of people weren't able to get the weapons they wanted because they were very expensive.
Remember the times +30hp for a sword was 40 platinum, or 20% enchant for a staff was even more expensive than that?

All you people saying GW2 is betraying GW1s legacy obviously didn't play GW1 in the first years..

Don't bother. Simply give up on trying to jog back their memory. Because they way you listen to some of these people it's as if they quite easily, and relatively fast, got their 1.5k armor, bought their runes, their weapons and the correct upgrades....Beats me how they easily got their 100k to buy their superior vigor rune, but whatever, "GW1 was perfect and GW2 is nothing but a gear treadmill"...

I can't speak for the poster I quoted but personally I'm a PvE player, former GW player.

What's a good challenge and what's not? It's a matter of taste I guess. DE's where the main challenge is to tag a mob before it's devoured by the zerg definitely isn't a "good" challenge, if any at all. I also don't find instant death traps, dodging red circles and billion+ hp bosses in dungeons good challenges either. Grinding legendaries and ascended gear instead of cosmetics is also very disappointing. Running around maps to get your POIs and vistas isn't a challenge either, because it doesn't require any skill, in the end it's just a time grind.

What I really miss most of all is FoW like dungeons where teamwork and player skill matters more than the rest.

At least compare things that can somewhat be compared. If you want to compare FoW at least compare it to dungeons instead of comparing it to general PvE where the other players do the work for you...
And before someone quotes me on this : dungeons are only a time grind if you are bad.

Because popping consets, keeping SF up, balling some enemies and using sliver armor required skill?? :P
Look I played GW1 for multiple thousands of hours, but please don't go the "GW1 was much harder" way, GW1 PvE was jus as faceroll as GW2 PvE is now.
The only real challenge in GW1 was Sorrow's Furnace in the first few months, that's it.

And "player skill matters more than the rest." is quite funny if you remember how people were forced to use a zeaulous scythe of enchanting, a earth staff of enchanting and a zeaulous spear of enchanting with a shield vs fire dmg/piercing dmg.

I did FoW/UW countless times on my warrior/ritu/monk/sin, it was one the parts I enjoyed most (apart from GvG), but it was also piss easy..

Too bad most of the players dont know what fow or uw was. Or if they do and they played gw1 they couldn't get in a team because they were bad.

Or they remember it was just as easy as the dungeons in GW2 now? :P

Haha, yeah I guess that's alot better in GW1 now.
Last time I checked there were 2 teams forming for HA, at prime time!
Or AT full with resign guilds, so enjoyable!

GW1 prime PvP has been dead for a long time, just accept it.
In the last mAT I observed there were teams with simple ele spikes getting to top16, that says enough about what PvP'ers remained in GW1. :)

Sorry what? Every weapon a player just was so fond to want on GW1, sooner or later was going to get one.
Just a matter of GRIND, until finally your drop arrive. And yes, it was arriving. Sooner or later. ;)
Noone said GW1 is perfect GW2 is gear treadmill. Instead we all know perfectly GW1 was an incredibily awesome geargrind game.
GW2 was sold as a game for casuals, enjoying the look, playing for fun. Not following numbers, linking on chat who is more badass with higher numbers and kicking people with a "no noobs" requirement to join their groups

Well there's collectors and vendors that sold max stat weapons, there also were a lot of green items with max stats. The rest was cosmetic. And even if you couldn't get the special combination you wanted, it wasn't better, just different.

Yea because everyone that wanted one, got a crystalline sword, or aVS, or a froggy, or a cc, or DBS, or a mini polar bear,... :)
Last 2-3 years I only did PvP or "grind" dungeons, and not even once did I get any of those as a drop.
Yes I was able to buy em all cause I transferred all my tournament points to zaishen keys and sold those, but don't say everyone could get anything just by playing. :)

I'm locking this. A completely unproductive thread that's descending into name-calling and petty spitefulness.

Apologies to those of you who were being adult: please feel free to discuss the subject in a new thread in a productive way.

Cheers!
