I had no lag, and I had a frakking blast.
I originally thought it odd that a huge level 80 event would be tied to a trial weekend, but with the sheer epic scale of this event I understand [and agree with] why they tied the two together.
That was exactly what a huge world event should be like.
Well done ANet.

Didn't have enough time to participate, besides, only things needed are to fix the culling problems and stop the 700 billion hps on everything the devs create.

The event was great but not rewarding for everyone! alot of people got disconnected and some didn't get a named exotic. Good battle with the Ancient Karka and nice cinematic in the end when he died, but rewards were lacking.

I was there from the start, it took nearly 3 hours.

I initially missed it but (and according to my guildmates alot of lag and stuff), but was able to do the event later on, on an unfinished overflow. Less people apparently, and less lag.
That way it was actually quite an experience.

After the Halloween event I was really looking forward to seeing this.   What I experienced during the last phase of the Lost Shores event was the least enjoyable experience I have had in the game to date.

The lag was horrendous and I was on overflow. I really can't believe any claims of people who say they experienced -no- lag during this.  The sheer number of player being funneled into that enclosed spiral along with mass numbers of mobs had to have game-affecting lag even on the highest end systems.

The lag had players dying constantly due to invisible mobs that render right on top of you.   My most vivid memories from this event will be laying there dead with dozens of other dead players all waiting to rez.

The number of people could have simply been limited in each shard which would have reduced and the difficulty of the event scaled.

The waves of mobs simply became tedious.   By the end it was no longer remotely fun and I'm not sure this would have been any different without the lag. The humber trash mobs and waves could have easily been in half, making the event an hour or hour and a half, which would have made things a bit less tedious.

Running back and forth over that annoying zone. First we have to run to the south end of the island, then back up, then back, then forth, etc.   This was fine when you were in the event zerg but it was incredibly frustrating and not fun when you were solo trying to run through those idiotic hatchling/headcrabs mobs who use Cripple and various other effects meant to inhibit your travel.

Deliberately inhibiting players from getting to the action is not good design.   The bizarre thing is that we know ArenaNet understands this.   They put in waypoints in the open world, they have them in dungeons.  Yet this event deliberately took place mostly away from any convenient waypoints in the zone making a tedious event even more annoying.

The only time the event was slightly tolerable was when the karka were in the area of the camp with the bridge.   There was a waypoint and an armor repair NPC.   The whole event should have taken place in this area (which would not seem uninteresting if the whole event had been shorter).

On the positive side, I did enjoy the build-up to the event. The whales and the story were intriguing.   And ArenaNet fixed the bugged scavenger hunt mission quickly enough. It's too bad that the final event left such a bad taste in my mouth.

I am glad that I'm not one of the unfortunate people who had to suffer through this event without even getting any reward.   I hope ArenaNet will take steps to do something about that.

Overall, this was a disappointment.  I really feel bad for people who were invited by friends if this was their first weekend playing GW2 and they experienced this thing.

I loved the event!

Then again, I skipped all the one-time things and just played the update...

I love how people apparently shout about it being a one-time non-repeatable event now.
This has been known for WEEKS.

People have been shouting about it for weeks, too.

Guess you missed it.

It was fun other than the lag that everyone has mentioned already...and the 'kill the reinforcements' parts were just ridiculously tedious and long..I think they were in there for the sole purpose of extending the event so more people could get to it, made it at least an hour longer. Killing veteran after veteran -TWICE (thanks shells)- that had a bazillion hp and worse loot than critters in your starting newbie zone got old real quick.  But all the rest of the event was fun, clearing the vents and chucking rocks at him, making the landslide and setting off the bombs and stuff. Felt really epic, like a big single-player game finale set piece. Rebuilding the bridge was really neat too, half the zerg was fighting boss and half was stuck on the broken bridge urging the workers on to hurry the hell up so we could join the fray while we protected them from sneak attacks, that was kind of a neat and memorable moment.
