No lag here, I thought it was one of the best events i've ever participated in. It was a little long, but they warned us of that before hand so I was prepared. The loot was much better then I imagined. I only got 2 exotics worth a total of about 2g. But the precursor prices dropped enough that I could finally afford my Zap which was an added bonus.

However the community here is truly terrible. I have seen some bad communities, but this one is significantly worse. A free content update, exclusive events, tons of stuff and no sub fee and people still have the audacity to complain. If you have lag then stop trying to play on a toaster.

If the community is terrible it's because of people like you. YOU got to participate and got stuff for it. Others simply wanted a chance to do the event and get stuff too. Why is that so bad?

Funny how so many of you who got stuff are telling others to shut the feck up. It's easy to spit on those wallowing in the mud while you're on your high horse.

Thank you for sharing my exact thoughts. I'm not an oceanic player, but I still feel screwed because my real life prevented me to be that lucky. I sure don't feel like going back in Orr after all this.

The sad thing is, I did half of the finale, but had to stop (lag and real life obligations). So I had for 14 silver of repair bill for nothing. :-|

LOL I feel your pain Chabby!

On a more positive note, I don't think ANet will let this fall on deaf ears.  I think we can expect the event or something similar to run again soon and for longer to allow everyone a chance.  With my luck, I'll probably miss that too.

At this point though, I'm too bitter to care to be honest.  With the direction the game is headed, I think a break is on the cards for me.  Plus Hitman just came out today i think  :D

If you guys want to catch it but missed it, use this thread. It is how I caught a ride into it even those I missed the first one. Everyone who missed it in my guild has been able to catch it after I told them about the thread.

What about people like me who disconnected during other phases of the event?  I got kicked out around the half way point of the reinforcement stage, and I just couldn't get back into the game.  When I was able to do so, the event was over.

I hope so. Aside from missing the last mega-event, I thouroughly enjoyed the weekend & the new content. Onwards & upwards :D

Yey, let's have another my penis computer is bigger than yours thread!

Of course, fps drop =/= lag. But, just wanted to point out that I don't think anyone posts their nearly 2 year-old mid-range processor and 3rd tier video card to measure e-peen. They were probably just trying to rationalize the performance complaints, lacking an understanding of what "lag" means to us.

Although most people would not consider 20 FPS smooth, so I could be wrong here.

The execution of the final event was once again unacceptable, so I left. By unacceptable, I mean invisible(due to culling and/or lag) enemies that are often invulnerable that kill you in one hit, broken and literally unplayable gameplay, and terrible lag. I enjoyed the rest of the update, but all three of the one time events were a failure.

Apparently, I have to. My response makes clear what I've gotten in 3hrs+ of farming.
Well considering most people in the 'how much do you farm thread' sit around 3g an hour I find it weird that so many people complain to have missed out on the rewards.

I'm not defending Anet and I can understand your frustration. The event today was nice and the cut scenes were cool, but it almost seemed as the "good" rewards were added in the end to try and force down the price of precursors and thus it seemed like they made the event longer and harder than what it was originally designed for.

Woah now, I didn't say that at all.

The main reason I'm gutted, is ANet decided to run this event (which apparently was just handing out precursors, exotics, rares and 20 slot bags like mad) at the ungodly time of 3-6am Monday morning my time.  A lot of people didn't even get a chance at getting lucky!  It seems ANet don't mind screwing over part of the customer base.

For someone like me that has invested tonnes of hours into this game and only ever received 1 crappy exotic drop barely worth 1g, it's pretty demoralizing to hear some guy jumped into an event for 2 hours and lucked out on Dawn, 2 exotics, 2 exotic earrings and a 20 slot bag.  It wasn't just this guy either, it's like they amped up the loot drops for this event to crazy unexpected levels and us Oceanics and the like didn't get a second thought.  Do you think I really want to go back to farming my ass off in Orr or dungeons just to make ends meat after hearing stuff like this?

I haven't decided to quit (just yet), but I think it's definitely time to take a break.  Too many poor decisions being made, this was just the icing for me.

In fairness, I don't think this chest had a higher chance of dropping the precursors than any of the others do.  It's just that so many people were opening this one all at once that we're hearing about so many dropping.  I definitely share your frustration and I seriously hope the developers never run events like this again, or at least put them on the usual 3 hour cycle (without the ability to open the chest more than once).  I get that the idea was to make an "epic event" that people only had one chance to see, but I don't think that running it a few times for each time zone would have ruined that.

Overall, the new content has had some really great new stuff, it's just been ruined by poor planning and connectivity problems.  At least those of us who couldn't connect to the game should be compensated and for those of you who completely missed it..  well, at least the price of the precursors should drop to a more reasonable price.

They are working on compensation for those that took part in the event but did not manage to kill boss/loot chest due to disconnects and such.

Big Fail? NO! But still a fail.
Since some people were able to do final event, congratz on them! THe Major lag kept me away even from trying, login was a pain already, not to mention entrering LA.

ANET should think if it is worth doing this type of events with the current number of servers they have!
There is no point in fighting Karka when after 5 mins all i can do is shoot ONE arrow!

The thing is however that the problem in most cases lies at the players end not ArenaNet.
Seeing as me and several others could do the whole event without very little to no lag it does look quite likely that the issue is at your end.

100MB fibre cable internet connection, no problem in the hardware part (on my end) and still lagging.
Different server maybe? well you got lucky!

Wrong. The chest was ONLY dropping exotics, so the chance was higher. Any other chests can drop green and blue items. But a chest guaranteed to drop only exotics raise the chance to get the precursor.

Incorrect, I got rare items, so it clearly did not only drop exotics.

Chest reward information from the wiki: This is consistent with every last person in my guild who pinged me their drops at the end, so I trust that information to be true.

Guaranteed exotics, so the point stands and is not as you say "incorrect".

He did say that it ONLY dropped Exotics, which is incorrect. I did not say it did not drop exotics.

That one intense ending event. Difficult, challenging, but not impossible. In the end I really have only two criticisms...

First - Two and a half to three hours was a little long for what was essentially one long fight.

Second - After all that work protecting the NPCs so they could set explosives, then going back through the hive to un-web the explosives... as far as I could tell, they weren't actually used in the end. I was kind of expecting some epic cut scene showing the hive blowing up, or something.

Still, overall, I had fun. And Nicolae, my bard, has an epic story to tell.

Lag sucked no doubt. I liked the event however the one lesson I HOPE they take away is... Does it really have to be so FREAKING long?  I dont know how many times I though damn, Im kinda over this already maybe Ill just log and do something else.  Im glad I didnt, I thought the ending was great, but the 42 waves of uber adds was just meh.

No lag for me. Event started on time, ran fine and was fun and challenging.

My guild pre planned ahead of time. The event leader got into one zone and then piggy backed us and anyone else who wanted in onto his overflow so about 25+ of the guild were all together. Was some nice loot and the ending was epic. Had a nice mix of Aliens and Starship Troopers.

I hope I'm not infracted for making these observations, but my friends and I couldn't help but wonder why this update features a monster we could only describe as "the vagina crab" running around a landscape constructed of giant rainbow phalluses (complete with erupting steam). It was a little surreal.

Is this patch for serious?

Considering your post history, maybe you're just lying, to make Anet look good.

If you think this event's lag had anything to do with user error, or PC, you know nothing of how latency works. I have FiOS, and I lagged. I don't believe for a second you didn't. Seeing as how it was an Anet server capacity issue.

When thousands are reporting mass lag, you need to start thinking objectively. I get it, you really like the game. But your attitude is actually insulting toward Arenanet. No company benefits from people who ignore problems and tell them they're perfect all the time.

If every gamer was like you, games would never improve. The irony, is that your attitude is actually self defeating. As it works toward making the thing you enjoy worse, in the long run.

I play with the same guys in the same parties, night after night.  We've maybe seen 2 exotic drops between us since game launch.  We've opened tons of chests, of all varieties, and finished tons of dungeons. During that event, we got 3 precursors dropped JUST in our party.

I'm ALL for upping drops on that shit... I'm not complaining about that at all, but ya drop rates were definitely "not normal".

Extend the event throughout the week but have an obvious Warning if you already looted the chest. Would be no different than in WOW doing LFRaid finder and having a Hazard sign that denotes which boss you have already killed (For that week) and won't be able to loot.

I all but gave up on GW2, so while it would've been nice to know the event/chest was happening, I would've logged on, but seeing it's the same endgame of farm / WWW or LF dungeon .. Not too upset.

And now apparently tiers for the new dungeons?

I knew it would happen. I posted something in Map Chat over a month ago that sooner or later people would start asking you to link your gear since there's no "Inspect" option.

LFM FOTM must link full exotics! PST!!!! PRO GROUP

Lets get this clear now, it wasn't luck , Anet artficially put those rewards in and gave it higher chances.

People playing the game for 3 days got something that most players have been working towards for 2+ months...that normaly before this weekend they would not of got so easily...

That is *ed up.

Congrats to everyone that benifited from it, but anets design choices are getting worse and worse.

Next month's free trail weekend we will give away super chances on ascended and legendary's to new players!!!

That's simply not true. None of the free trial weekend people got a precursor. The event chest did NOT scale with level. Only an unscaled lvl 80 could receive level 80 exotics. I know because I did the event again on a low level alt and it gave me crap.
