So, in MMOs I am generally starting to delete and create characters over and over again, because I can't find what i like. Now, since beta, the same thing happens here with my beloved guildwars 2 which I don't want!

I hate it that this happens all the time and i don't want it to ruin gw2 for me.
I hope someone understands me and can help and advise me on this matter.

Well let me ask you what your highest level character has been? That includes race, profession. Give me the entire shabang.

It's very hard to help you if you don't give us some description of what you like in a character.
By example, tell us what you played before in other MMO's, and what type of gamestyle do you like, and even what type of profession/class do you like?

For starters if you get tired of a race very quickly, you could try choosing the most standard one (human), so maybe you won't get fed up with it after a while. Then when you're in character creation menu, don't rush it, you do want to take your time and come up with the best possible looking character to you. As for the profession, I think this game gives a nice variety of possibilities and versatility to each one,s o just stick with the one you think that suits you best.

So, I actually have watered down the decision into three professions:

Engineer, Mesmer and Thief.

Now what I like in a gamestyle would be controlling my enemies, being useful for my team and debuffing my enemies.

Class in WoW: Warlock
Class in Allods Online: Psionicist
Class in Runes of Magic: Rogue and Mage.

So thats basically how I am in terms of classes.

Well from your previous MMO's I'd say Mesmer would fit you best.
They have the most ways to "control" their enemies.
And for PvE they can be quite supportive to a team in a offensive way, so not boosting your allies, but by making sure the enemy can't hit your allies.

Welcome to the life of an altaholic...you have an incessant need to start new characters left and right...and I know exactly where you are coming from, I used to do it all the time on other MMOs.

Then I discovered the thief in GW2 and because I like the playstyle and how it handles, I actually have a max lvl toon.

Anyway, to answer your question, either the engi or the mesmer is going to be your best choice, given you want to be able to support your team, because they can both do support pretty well. The thief has a few support/utility skills that can benefit a team, like blinds with /P or Shadow Refuge or vulnerability stacks with P/...but overall the thief plays better (imvho) by support through damage. What better way to support your team than killing the enemy super quickly, right? :)

Well, I too think I will settle down on Mesmer, thank you for your help, as it was really good for me.

Now, I only need to decide my race, which people say is a personal decision, I know that, and mine is just between Sylvari and Asura.

So, my only problem with picking an Asura instantly is not seeing my epic legendaries and being someone unique that people instantly see in  a crowd. If someone could prove that that is not the case, my character would be done.

And yeah, I guess I will make atleast one more character if possible, as I that would still ake me able to farm their end game gear. Now, what would differ from Mesmers playstyle more, Engineer or Thief, so I would get some different gameplay while alting.

(Note that after this post I will post with another Account if neccessary due to these weird restrictions, if I get approval then forget this.)

Euhm as you said, asuras are not very big, and weapons and armor scale with body so that's a minus.
Other than that I'd say race is a very personal choice. :)

What differs most from mesmer is kinda hard.
Engineer is a technical themed class, that always plays from a distance.
And Thief is a very action themed class that always needs to move and keep its guard.

Well, does the Mesmer boring after some time in terms of diversity? Can you compare him to something like Engineer or Elementalist, I believe not. I know I should enjoy that profession, and I do very very much, but I fear getting bored in the future, which would be very sad I think.

In guildwars 2, the utter wealth of things to do can make it hard to get bored. I know that I set myself an almost impossible goal of creating the greatsword Volcanus... for no particular reason (I only have 2 characters that can even use greatswords). I know that means 1000 runs or so of Citadel of Flame dungeon. You might call that a grind, however, before that, I need to get the funds to make a character that *can* run dungeons smoothly. Probably a guardian.

Well, should I have an alt for farming Orr events then? I mean, I heard the tagging on Mesmer doesn't work well anymore due to iBerzerker nerfs, so should I do that?

Well there is no question to that :D It's just great trolling people, and PvE is kinda working with GS/Staff. Lets see if I keep sticked to it in terms of diversity, I think so, and I also doubt that is my last character :/

Update: I have now played my mesmer to lvl 45 and I do enjoy him. but my concern is that as though he excells in small skirmishes, let it be wvw pvp or pve, but is bad in bigger fights and gets a lot more boring in these.
Also I have found out that I like melee combat quite a bit and also like "tanking"  and "healing".
As much as I like the mesmer, he just lacks the capabilties I want in wvw and dungeons or general pve.
I have grown quite some interest in guardians and necromancers, but I fear these classes to get boring as many people say, because they are too easy.

I think Mesmer is a good match for you and you're suffering a bit because of not being 80 yet.
I think you like trolling your opponents a bit, so last resort you might want to try a Rogue... but my advice would be to keep leveling the Mesmer, the experience changes at 80.

Each person is going to have a different definition of what constitutes a profession that is 'easy' to play. Don't be fearful to try every class regardless of what others say about it. I started with a necro and it was enjoyable to play, I especially enjoyed wells, death shroud...I used the necro heavily for just about everything in the game and for quite a period of time. However I wanted to build towards support and seemed to find my place with the elementalist in terms of the kind of support I liked to provide.

Sometimes a change of scenery is all you need, but before that, exploring a profession in-depth (eg. getting to lvl 80, then using it for DEs, WvW, dungeons etc) is worthwhile before making any real judgements on it.

Well, I don't think I will drop this character, as I still would enjoy to play him. But I just need an alt because I can't play the same class over and over.
So what class would differ from Mesmer enough so I could enjoy something fresh when alting.

PS: What I found about the Mesmer is that there was waay to little action for me in combat. I mean, I follow Mr. Prometheus Build, and all you do is Chaos Storm, keep Chaos Armor up and spam autoattack. I don't know, but
although it is an interesting class, I just don't feel the threat of being in melee. I don't want that kind of range combat or general combat. Elementalist seemed way more active in that sense. Meele classes generally would be so, even the Necro would be a tad more active than that.
