Yea, the event was SO BORING. Should have been about an hr or so. My server was sooo slow. It took us over 3 hrs to complete. Anyways, I nabbed a Rodgort's Flame.
The overflow I was in took 2hours and 30 minutes to complete the event. Waves of level 84 veteran young (Veteran Young ?!?) Karak would wipe the event because of server lag and culling. Things were fine, then, lag, dead players everywhere with Vets chasing down the survivors. Not as fun as I had hoped.

As for loot, I got salvage trash. No one in the guild got a precursor and no one at the chest linked a precursor but they could have keep that information silent.

Congrats to you on Rodgort's Flame !

You people whine to no end.  How else are they supposed to do a timed event?

People can realistically start working on legendaries now as well.

Their loginservers went down, so nothing to do with my end.

I love the people with crappy computers or internet connections complaining about lag and DC's as if it were Anet's fault. And before you tell me you got this amazing xyz rig, please clean the viri off before announcing your crap.

i5-2500k overclocked to 4,5Ghz
GTX 580 overclocked to 900Mhz
8GB 1600Mhz RAM
W7 and GW2 installed on a SSD.

No viruses (viri isn't a word), malware, spyware, etc. Windows 7, Afterburner, Core temp, Google Chrome, Avast and GW2 are the only things currently installed on it. Can run the game on a stable 100 fps with everything maxed. This event caused extreme lag and lots of foes are invisible, while the CPU was running at only 20%, the GPU uses less than 30% of its memory and is running between 60-70%.

Don't know about DC's, but the (fps) lag is definitely a GW2 problem.

ANet failed. They should not do anymore 1-time events. Ever. Which idiot thought pigeonholing the entire server pop into one zone at the same time was a good idea?

I got a venom (trident precursor).  What is the point of an underwater legendary?  I'd sell it, but it doesn't go for muck on the TP either.   Mystic forge?

Holy crap the ignorance. If you knew ANYTHING about computers and networking you'd know that just because what works for some rigs doesn't mean it works for all. Have you never heard of compatibility issues? Have you no clue that not all software and hardware works the same way on different specs? And so goes the same for networking and internet issues.

ANET obviously knew this was a big issue that affected a big chunk of the participants (not just a handful) since they had released notes for fixing the problem for the second event and then more notes for possibly compensating those that lagged or disconnected during the third event.

Geezus F Cripes, your posts are ridiculous.

The lag was certainly a killer, although I was lucky enough to be able to get 6-10 FPS at all graphical settings at their lowest (and my computer is crap).  Of course, when you can't see enemies until you're dead your FPS doesn't help much.  The thing is, it's not everyone in the server in one zone:  it's everyone in a zone in one tiny area.  I'm guessing zones hold about 2000 people?  Maybe half that?  Who knows.  But like any WvW zerg can tell you, once you get about 200 people in an area you're going to start not seeing things, and the lag is going to start being an issue.

More on topic, I was happy to get enough junk exotics to sell to purchase a couple of exotics that I can actually use, so in that respect it was a good haul for me (plus the 20-slot bag, which is easily the most valuable thing on my entire account and I would never have gotten on my own, ever).  Hearing that some got precursors is pretty amazing:  a sudden influx of ~100g really could change how you play the game if you were a casual-ish player and never topped 20g before.
