This is a PvP video I made recently showcasing some PvP action with a level 80 shortbow ranger in WvW.

My gear: I'm using armor with Power/Precision/Condition Damage Stats. I use the Crest of the Rabid on all my armor pieces (20 Condition Damage/14 Precision/+14 Toughness) and Power/Vitality/Condition Damage Jewels. My weapon is Power/Precision/Condition Damage with Superior Sigil of Agony for 5% increase in bleeding duration.

The decision to choose Crests of the Rabid instead of Armor signets might sound kind of silly but they work quite well for me since I'm neither a condition damage build or a critical chance build. I'm something in between so Crests of the Rabid offer me a good amount of Precision and Condition Damage at the same time.

If this doesn't belong on this part of the forums or doesn't belong at the forums at all, let me know and I'll immediately delete the thread.

This is WvW yo, nothing in WvW is suppose to be balanced.

I'm pretty sure most if not all of balance complaints are directed towards sPvP. I mean if people are complaining about balance in PvE and WvWvW I've got the same question cuz dat shit is dumb.

If you get hit with killshot In WvW its your fault for not having field awareness cause its a easy to see and dodge skill if you get killed by it in sPvP you deserve to die

It's pretty OP dude. Regardless my point is ranger's can't do anything near as damaging as killshot. But if you're really into missing the forest for the trees, then have at it.

BTW I've seen videos of 24k killshots so what were they lvl -5? Either that or you don't have to be a naked lowbie to cop an insane amount of damage from KS, but that would make you wrong, which obviously isn't possible.

Killshot dosent do 24k crits in sPvP and WvW is not meant to be balance sooo GG

Who the * plays sPvP? And yes, WvW is meant to be balanced. Also once again people are intentionally ignoring the point.

The guy asked why rangers are complaining.

The reason is because we suck at damage.

Whatever number you are pulling with killshot, its about 10x the number a ranger can pull with any attack.

LoL people are whining expecting to get over the top numbers with a class witch dmg comes from 2 source's the pet and the ranger itself if you buff the ranger to get the over the top numbers that a warrior can you here people complaining like you are now about the same thing but reverse they will cry about the ranger with both OP dmg and a pet that can cripple cause confusion or what ever the hell any pet dose. Any way if you looking for a class with high dmg output no matter what weapon you pick rangers is not for you rangers are atm the only class that takes some actual strategy and skill to play well in WvW.

Wow that's great grammar. Also displays your complete and total ignorance of the ranger class. The part about the pet is correct.... except for the fact that the pet can't hit a moving target and goes down faster than a drunken prom queen - which is another reason rangers are complaining. Because a mechanic that's suppose to account for a good chunk of their damage is mostly useless.

So tell me, if rangers don't do high damage, what do they do? Their control effects are sub par, group healing/support isn't anything other classes can't do. So tell me, what makes rangers special?

First Off Bird Pets Can Hit Moving Targets. Rangers are a jack of all trade master of none class while they mite not be able to do the wicked burst dmg the other leather classes can do.

But personally in my opinion rangers do well in conditions and applying them and another thing that's dangerous about the ranger is there mobility and their high Toughness/Health Pools they can beat you down over time and take a beating. Also proper weapon swamping sigils armor and any competent ranger can do well in WvW.

ATM its really a class you have to think hard with and do well with to reap the rewards in PvP i am already seeing rangers start to adapt In WvW.

Birds can only hit moving targets because they cast swiftness when they attack. When that buff ends they're in the same boat as every other pet. As far as being a jack of all trades, this game is designed so that each class can do a wide variety of things. At least that's what ANET advertised as. I don't think this is a design choice so much as ignoring critical issues with the class. Look at how many of our utility skills suck. All our signets are trash. Only 1 shout is worth taking. Spirits are bad unless you spec heavily into them and even then they're highly susceptable to AoE and splash damage from melee attacks. A few death blossoms will kill your entire herd of spirits for example.

I mean FFS the 1h sword bug is STILL there. Just like it has been from launch. You can't tell me that this class is getting the attention it needs. This class is NOT fine. JonPeters even admits he thinks the ranger profession is the most in need of help.

Mate in your video more then half of people you are fighting are not "real" lvl 80`s thus they don`t have exotic gear, and you are opening most of your fights with elite !?
Also one of the warrs you kill in video actually attacks your wolf ? ? ?

With a chance to sound like an ass i will tell you, you wouldn`t last long against "full geared people" or better players for that matter.
As the matter of fact you would be dead in 5 seconds......
My advice would be to go full crit, forget "condition dmg" and keep yourself around other players from your server, rangers ain`t exactly solo friendly class (at least not in WvW) !

i don't think i've ever lost to another ranger, Esp a Glass Cannon one...

I consider Glass Cannon Rangers to be pretty much the easiest thing in the game for me to kill.

Btw i don`t play ranger much, but i have one maxed out and i did do some WvW on it. When you are in group things are ok wonder of solo everyone will run you over !
I guess that is because Rangers have pretty bad utility skills !!!

There's a thread in the Hall of Heroes (PvP) section (http://www.guildwars...-topics-in-one/) that brings up an interesting point as to why Rangers are so often seen as under-powered for sPvP and that is has a lot to do with the current meta game right now.

As it stands, we really don't have much diversity in sPvP game types, so they're all really a relatively small map where the objective is to control capture points and that's why bunker builds and roamers reign supreme.  Right now, rangers don't really fulfill either of those roles well enough to fit.

Why do you keep on insisting that it's a learn to play class when Jon Peters already said that it is indeed a flawed class.

Commenting on the video, I stopped it at 4:30 in. It's pretty obvious based upon the chat box (which you should cover up in future videos) that you often taunt your opponents by laughing or dancing on their corpse which is in poor taste. Up to the 4:30 mark half of the opponents you faced were under leveled and the other half were being beaten on by the Sentry or mobs when you encountered them.

With that being said I think you certainly have potential for video making and definitely have moderate skill playing a ranger. Keep up the hard work and practice and let's see your next video.

I saw his second video using the link from this video and could see he is evolving as a player -or she?- the player is still not there but I enjoyed greatly seeing this improvement in play ability and weapon choices.  So if you are like myself and enjoy watching players grow, go see his second video.

It is a video of a 'new' PvP player, still gett5ing used to the physical and virtual interface(s) of gaming BUT it shows growth over this current video.
