Perfect example, terrible reward for decent effort

Went across the broken boards to the island area, and took on the Champion mob that was guarding the chest. It took a while to kill the champ because there were only 5 of us, and that whirlwind he does pretty much one shot the group.. plus the random other mobs that respawn rather quick up there with him (just one or two I think).
From the chest- a blue level 65 medallion and level 80 blue shoulders. From the boss, a level 79 blue warhorn. Not even a green from the chest or boss? I'm not asking for Exotic, but dear god, at least something useful and commensurate with the effort.
I thought they fixed (upped) the quality of drops from the champion mobs? When everyone that's been level 80 for more than 2 weeks is easily walking around in full rares, if not full exotics.. I'm wondering what the gameplan in terms of rewards given really is.
-I am level 80, and the other 4 were as well.. and nobody got anything worth a damn from the boss or chest. All garbage loot. (I just tallied my rewards up.. if I sold on the TP, I'd net 5silver.)

The TP would be swarmed with golds.
I have seen better rewards from champs though, gotten a few golds in the past week, which is = to the golds i got from champs previous to that update.

I know what you mean, but simply upping the droprate won't work.
Situation: You get horrible drops, are happy if you get even a rare once a week and your bank account only crawls ahead.
Now, the droprate gets increased. You now also gets those terrific drops. But they're worth nothing because everybody is getting them. Then what's the point in getting a rare/exotic? They'll be the new common and fine...

At least you got some loot! Yesterday killed a few champions and got zero loot.
Party of 5 in dungeon and all and either blues or no loot at all.

The increased drop-rate did wonders for my enjoyment of D3.

Yesterday, 2.5 hours of play, I killed 4 champions total and got 7 rare drops, of which 1 was from a champion. I'd say that from 4 champions, the chance of getting 1 rare is pretty decent. I mean, they're called rares for a reason. The update was just to make sure that rares weren't exotic and exotic weren't legendary.

So the only way to have good drops in a game that has horizontal gear progression is to make good drops super rare! in the future they can perhaps make this better by having bosses and perhaps champions drop unique skins but that too will be a good drop only as long as its rare!

If you've done this jumping puzzle and crossed into the champion mob area, you'd understand the effort it took (like I said, not a lot.. but enough).. and how the reward was rather pathetic, for all of us.
"so I jumped off into what I thought was the sea but was actually 1 foot of water. I kinda enjoyed it =] "
Same thing.. but after we killed him "that looks like deep water" ..........SPLAT

Next run had no exotics but a gold only.
Bottom line, I used to be happy with a gold drop, now I get exotics, but not every time.
You expect gold and exotics all the time?

Its your decision whether its worth your time to spend 20 minutes killing a champion undermanned; you have to weigh that against the very real possibility that you might get nothing worthwhile for your efforts. They improved loot chances for champion mobs, don't confuse that for a guarantee of a bare minimum of gear. Its better to expect to get garbage and be pleasantly surprised sometimes.

Anyway, my point is I am in full exotics and so all loot becomes nothing but copper, silver, & gold to me. The drops I get are either sold or at best used to get ectos. I consider myself lucky if I ever get rares so I can try for an ecto.
What I would like?
A drop I would transmute because the look was nicer than what I have.
A drop that I would replace existing gear with.
These just are not going to happen for me, I accept that. It still makes me a little sad.
The weekend event dropping a 20 slot bag from the chest was the best drop I have ever received I wish the earing had been a bit better on stats, but whatever it was nice to see exotic drops for once.
If you expect drops to be useful other than selling them to get gold to buy what you want you will likely be disappointed.

4 items, levels 65, 78, 79, 80. 3 blues and a green. If this game insists on godawful loot nobody is going to use, then just give me the silver instead..save me the extra wasted time of selling this nonsense.

Absolutely agree! While I don't care to solo (I have zero use for it), I did kill a lot of crabs on my way around the island, and.. err.. I am geared to the hilt, and still those mobs seemed to be tuned a bit much..again, I don't care, but if I were a regular player..this might be a bit much, and again, for garbage return. --I was killing so many crabs because I thought something was wrong with my rotation/build/gear after the first crab .. took a while to kill, and hit me too hard. So i had to investigate.
Also, not nearly enough events.

Now...give those champions a better chance at a higher end drop. Yes, I know they SAID they did this. But reality speaks: champions before the update didn't drop much at all. Now they drop loot. they say it's a higher chance at the higher rarity....but I think that's BS, and the increased drop rate of ANYTHING has clouded that realization. I've killed a few dozen champion mobs since the update and never got higher than a green, and only one person I've ever done it with has gotten a rare. And these aren't the same champion mobs, either.

In case of Orr, you could say: Let's up the reward. But that will only make the area a farm. Or, you could say: let's make the area fun to do. I prefer the latter...

I'm with this guy, upwards of 750 hours and not one exotic drop from a champ/vet/chest/dungeon. Only exotics i see are from high lvl map completion, and even then... 'this item is not useable by your profession'.
However, i must say that once you pass lvl 10 on Fractals Of The Mists things do start getting better, 3 rares 1 green out of a chest yesterday.

I made 15g yesterday just with doing fractals. Which don't reward any cash like normal dungeons. 15g just from drops seems rather good to me, and absolutely better than it ever was.
