She's rather competent at what she does. Maybe a bit over-competent, if anything. <_<
Yeah I agree, Crystin Cox is super competent at ruining otherwise great games with hyper greedy nonsense that no one actually wants, but that definitely drives people away. Much much too competent.

I think whoever came up with the current Ascended gear grind is very competent, actually.  It preys on the same tendencies that have caused me to spend more silver on mats off the TP than I wanted to in order to further my crafting.

Here you sit with everything you need to create a piece of Ascended gear that you can get from running dungeons.  But oh no, look!  You need more mats.  But hey, these mats are available on the TP.  But you don't have enough gold to purchase them.  So what do you do?  Just this once?  Do you go out and grind them for 20 hours and delay your shiny new piece of gear?  Maybe.  But maybe you buy gems, exchange them for gold, and finish your armor piece instead.

So who came up with this?  Was it her, or someone else?  Because I'd like to congratulate that person while staying far away from any project they are ever involved in ever again.

Probably was her. ArenaNet's entire loot strategy (i.e., give players poor/no loot a lot of the time) seems based around pushing people to buy gems -> gold in order to avoid the huge amount of grind.

Edit: Predictably, as with any feedback they don't like, ArenaNet has locked the thread on the official forums.

You do know that it is ArenaNet's job to never ever let you have your fill right?  :)  Sorry but I just have to state the obvious in this situation.

You speak as if my will is not my own but is governed by their whims. It may be obvious to you what you will do with your time or how you will get your fill but Anet will have to do more than what they're doing now to fulfil my needs. Im not forking over for more content, won't level any more characters than the one im working on, won't buy slots, won't run the gear treadmill...

In fact there's loads of other things to do with my time. 6 years+ of gw was great fun. im tiring of this game after less than 3 months.

The shine is quickly wearing off this shit heap.
I love gw and I've had alot of fun with it and gw2 for a little while but it's not as enjoyable and I have other things that are highly fulfilling.

For Anet to get any more from me they'll need to give something truly awesome.
The new dungeon is good content. gear treadmill not.

The lottery bags are pure greed. Pointless. But if that is where my fellow gamers want to put their earnings it's their choice. This is a game of greed and I'll give them no more.

I love how they say "Take off your tin-foil hats everyone. There's nothing sneaky or shady going on" then immediately lock the thread with no explanation.

Gotta make sure and sweep it under the rug or people might notice they are getting *ed in the arse by Crystin Cox and her hyper-greedy Nexon masters.

Learn your companies.  She was the person behind the Maple Story cash shop, which was notoriously abusive to the player base.  http://maple-news.co...ned-maplestory/

Nexon has a 15% stake in NCSoft.  That bears a lot of weight.  You need to tell the SEC when you gain 5% control of a company.

The position was created after Nexon's investment and Cox moved from Nexon to ArenaNet.  I won't say she's obviously there to be Nexon's hand at the wheel, but the events and evidence are damning.  Pretty sure that given the cost of GW2 and NCSoft's usual handling of things when they want money, they are expecting a return and see any slump in active accounts as a danger to that.

Conspiracy theories are so much fun right? Especially since you don't need to have any facts supporting your assertions.

I am well acquainted with Crystin Cox's history. But if you honestly think she has the power to take the gem store in a direction that A-Net doesn't want, then the onus is on you to provide some facts that support that claim. A 15% stake in NCSoft isn't enough proof.

Experience.  And ArenaNet's in no position to say no to NCSoft, if Nexon decides to lean on NCSoft.  NCSoft is the publisher.  They hold the purse strings.  Nexon has political weight.  And speculation is very much allowed.  If no one speculated on anything, the world would be a very ignorant place.  ArenaNet's silence on the matter allows for this.

Fact-less speculation doesn't eliminate ignorance; it breeds it.

But for the sake of argument: Assuming that you are correct that Nexon is pressuring A-Net, it has nothing to do with the person of Crystin Cox and everything to do with entire companies. So why all the hate directed at Crystin?
