Ripped the URL from the forums:

http://newsletters.n...2-11-21/na.html

Seems legit.  If not, sorry.

It's okay to enjoy crap if you're willing to admit it's crap.
Every patch is like ArenaNet walking out onto the stage of the International Don't Kitten Up Championship, and then proceeding to shiv itself in the stomach 30 times while screaming "IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!"

Thanks for posting this. At least ANet wants our feedback; a lot of the questions seemed directed at the common complaints right now. I hope they learn from this.

None of their questions reference Ascended gear and all the other issues with it, AFAIK.  Use the comments section.

I laughed when the what I didn't like about the event part had one mentioning of the one-time event, but the what I liked about it section was only about the one-time event.

I liked things about the event, but not the one-time event.

I got some feedback.

If you're going to run a one time event with such epic loot, try to include ALL TIME ZONES...

Is that not common sense?

They said 12 PST is the time they have the most users on.
That's the best they could do for one time events.

Odd, I didn't get that. The "What I like" part for me had other stuff selectable, like Art direction, story, etc.

Seems like 3 or 4 PST would have much better world coverage for normal waking hours of the playerbase even if that is not when they have the most activity.  Some people might have to get on a little earlier and some a little later.  I would prefer to see 3 hour reaccuring events for these things like GW1.

As for survey, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the question if I would send an invite for a free weekend based off the Lost Shores event.

Did anybody else get an email asking us to fill in a survey for feedback? I tried to access it and all I got was...

*drumroll please*

Problem loading webpage. Don't get me wrong, I want to leave feedback, good and bad, but obviously the link to the survey itself ain't even working at the moment.

Terrible design for the survey, a lot of biased questions. But at least they are worried enough to ask our opinion. Thanks for the link.

Filled it out for kicks. Doesn't matter though. They have all the info they need. This is a PR move, nothing more.

ArenaNet has proven themselves incapable of dealing with criticism. Their mods merge every negative thread, just to make the game look more popular. Does anyone really think this survey will amount to squat?

I mean, these are the same people who got nothing but bad feedback over the Halloween skins being in gamble boxes, so what did they do for the next event? They stuck the minipets in too!

I have a feeling they made this survey, just to poll the playerbase, so they can do the opposite of whatever the most players want, just to disappoint the optimal number of players.

"Do you enjoy 1 time events?"

Strongly disagree.

Lag and culling issues, I had enough of that shit.

I was happy to formally say that the one-time event was a laggy, incredibly un-fun mess that makes me not want to participate in another one-time event again.  I generally liked everything else about the event, but the Ancient Karka meta-chain was awful.

I have a feeling ANet is going to get their feelings hurt. I doubt they'll even post the results to avoid looking bad.

No mention of Ascended gear, even though that was a significant part of the update.  I guess they either don't want feedback on that because they know what we'll say, or they don't want it because they believe our opinions on that matter to be irrelevant.

Rather than flame the survey to oblivion, try to provide some constructive feedback.  That is more useful than writing angry comments.

This is the first time we've seen a survey, so obviously Anet has taken the comments to heart and is trying to get some valid feedback to try to improve future events.

It's a lot easier to analyze survey data than trying to sift through all the vitriol and hate people have been posting, to find useful comments. ;)

In general, I think they're pretty good about listening to their players. For instance, I think their Consortium Chest was a response to the complaints about Black Lion Chest drops during Halloween. And I'm really not worried about how they're going to handle Ascended items. I think the main reason they only introduced a few Ascended items was so they could get feedback before developing more.

Anyway, I'm happy they're actively looking for feedback, and I think future events will only be better.

On the topic of ascended items, I'd have to wonder what they will do (or not do) even if the response towards them was generally negative. If they now elected to no longer release anymore ascended items other than the ones so far announced, wouldn't it reduce the incentive of people to grind the fractal dungeons? We will see a situation where some folk will again complain about a lack of content, even if an ever more challenging fractal dungeon still sits there ready for the play. People who just want the challenge and have something to do with their online friends wouldn't care of course, which has been the case before this new gear tier came into existence anyway.

And if they release more ascended items even if the feedback is negative, then we know what the result will be. More negative feedback. If they were going to be concerned about the response to ascended items, they should have done the survey before officially introducing it into the game.

Furthermore, would they actually consider asking if ascended gear was the sole reason why previous quitters have now returned to play the game? I doubt it.

Honest, rational feedback is definitely important however. If all they got from their surveys was endless amount of hate about one-time events, they may choose to never have one-time events again. Although frankly, I couldn't care less. A lot of Oceanic players like myself miss it everytime regardless. But we're talking about feedback for the greater good.

I think we'll see a full set of Ascended accessories regardless of the feedback, but I think they'll hesitate releasing Ascended armor without at least attaching it to new, "prestigious" armor skins. Players are asking for more to do at max level and for better rewards. Gold becomes meaningless if there is nothing to spend it on, so I understand why they wanted to give players an end-game equipment goal that was more realistic than a legendary weapon.

I don't think ANet's intent is to introduce a gear treadmill. Especially after all the complaints, I don't see them ever adding another gear tier.

I think Halloween was a much more successful event. The Halloween "one-time event" was just a neat cut scene that everyone could look up on Youtube later. All of the meaningful Halloween content lasted at least 24 hours. I love events, but when they don't run long enough for most people to actually enjoy them, then what's the point?

Hopefully they will see lots of feedback that say "one time events" are good in idea, scale and rewards, but should happen more than once to include other timezones/players that can't make a specific time for whatever reason.  I made sure and put that in my "other" comments.

Thanks for the link!

That's the best they could do for one time events.

They should've restricted game/gem store to PST zones only in the first place. Why should the rest of the world be discriminated against when they're also paying to play the game?

Unless they make them last 24 hours.

And just to reiterate, the time in the week when most people log on regularly is not necessarily the same thing as the time when the most people could log on for a special event.

This.

I do nightouts on friday & saturday nights playing the game, hell I stay awake till 5am and I live in Asia. On sundays its just impossible, many of us have work/school to go to on mondays when the other side of the world is playing with TP with the shinies they just collected from the "one-time event".

I still love this game, and just purchased gems for a new character yesterday. But as an Asian who was asleep at the time of the event as I had to wake up early for work, I feel disappointed that I'm treated as a lower class citizen. I am still hoping they'd learn from this and adopt a better strategy for the future events, and would definitely buy more gems to support them. Maybe I wouldn't have been so disappointed if the rewards weren't that great, so I wouldn't feel like I missed something or if they repeated the event one more time for the alternate timezones so I wouldn't feel like left out.

Anet PR rule. They wants you think they gives a damn of what playerbase thinks or wants.
Feel free to ignore the survey, just a commercial move, noone is gonna read 1 single response to make our game better.

Anet know exactly how to run one-time events. The only purpose of them doing anything is to maximise profits.

They just want to tweak their formula to increase profits more. It's obviously working for them. They have their numbers.

Expect even better ways to keep u grinding. And more of them.

This thread is exactly why developers should never listen to 'feedback' on forums and should use feedback surveys instead.

Because you truly think hate poster on this forum / their official forum are filling a positive survey telling them how awesome and perfect the new content is, maybe? Don't you think they will have 95% of the survey with negative feedback, exactly like on this forum / their forum?
