I am very encouraged to see ArenaNet emailing that survey. I don't recall there being a survey after the Halloween event, so one supposes that a survey has been sent after the Lost Shores event because ArenaNet realizes that there were serious problems with it.
But I have concerned that
*anyone* can fill out the survey. It's up on the NCSoft website so you don't even have to own the game to fill it in.
I would have thought that ArenaNet would want to make it
private so only people who get the email could fill it in. Otherwise the data could be skewed.
Still, it does indicate that they are taking steps toward fixing things. ArenaNet has shown a very rare ability to learn from their past mistakes. That is unusual for an MMO developer. ArenaNet has been able to recognize errors not only in other MMOs but from their own past product, Guild Wars 1. I hope that surveys like this will help them learn from their mistakes in Guild Wars 2.
Because the final phase 3 of the Lost Shores was a big, ol' mistake on multiple levels. I've thought as much since Sunday and it's nice to see ArenaNet taking steps to get feedback from their customers on what exactly went wrong to it so they can improve and do better next time.
