Hey guys, I've just started farming, and I don't really know how to efficiently deal aoe dmg, does anyone have a decent farming build for engineers that's build around aoe damaging? Thanks it would help a bunch.

Use any build you want and equip a grenade kit.  Even untraited, they're the best AoE damage Engy has.
Bombs are arguably better [unless traited with grenadier, in which case nades are clearly better], but you need to be all up a gang of mobs' faces for bombs to be decent AoE damage, and the Surgeon General has a warning about doing that [which is why it's arguable].

If you want to run around Orr on random, then the healer bomber is the biggest troll class. It'll take maybe 6 mobs at once to kill you and you have two different playstyles: Run around and push 1 every second OR stand in one place and push 1 every second.

I'm running a Firearms/Alchemy build.  WIth piercing shots, it's easy to stack up a lot of conditions, and also with FT/EG, it makes for a lot of damage while running around like a ninny.  Pretty hard to kill too with a healing area, healing utilty and regen from EG.
It's okay to enjoy crap if you're willing to admit it's crap.
Every patch is like ArenaNet walking out onto the stage of the International Don't Kitten Up Championship, and then proceeding to shiv itself in the stomach 30 times while screaming "IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!"

If you're looking to kill a ton of mobs at once, Elixir-Infused Bombs or a Juggernaut Flamethrower build are both good choices.

But in terms of killing the most mobs per hour, Grenadier builds kill the fastest.

Look in what area you're fighting, and consider which is more your play style. If you're farming crafting materials in Orr, I'd recommend staying away from the Grenade Kit. Especially if you're geared out for MF.

In events perhaps but I honestly havent found it usefull against random mobs. My offensive Engineer will almost die against a couple of Orr mobs if he use grenade kit, while my defensive Warrior can do it while loosing 0 HP... And kill mobs about as fast. IMO the increase in dps the nades offer are nothing compared to the healing power of bombs.

Care to elaborate a little on those two builds?
(sorry to barge into a thread like this, but I'm wondering the same thing as OP did and I'm quite new to this class so I have little idea what each of those builds involved ^^")
Thanks!

How much does Elixir-Infused Bombs heal you for? Without my Cleric's set, I never see more than 200 HP per tick. If you're getting dropped by Orr mobs, it's likely an issue with your gear. Facing off one or two shouldn't be giving you trouble no matter what build you're using.

Not a problem.

The Juggernaut Flamethrower build is 30 points in Firearms with whatever distribution between Alchemy and Tools feels comfortable to you. I use a 0/30/0/25/15 split, personally. It doesn't do as much damage as the Grenade Kit, but it's significantly more defensive and survivable. It's a great way to play, and have been using it since the beginning of October or so ... I just kinda got bored with it and am trying other stuff now with the new patch.

Some one else could probably tell you more about Elixir-Infused Bombs. It's basically 30 points in Inventions with additional points in Explosives to boost the Bomb Kit. I'm not a huge fan of it personally, but it is a viable alternative.
