I have spent on average 2 hours a day for the last week in Orr, Frostgorge, the new explorable zone, and a 60-65 area of a Charr zone. I have not gotten a single rare drop and I use 26% food, 5 travelers runes, and a superior sigil of luck.

What am I doing wrong? I never had this issue before drop rates were supposedly 'fixed' last weekend. I also don't want to spend an hour trying to find a level 2 fractals group.

There's no way I could have any farming penalties on me, I don't play enough nor do I farm one area for a long time.

Despite Anet's claims to the contrary they seem to have nerfed the hell out of drops and I am experiencing the same thing you are. Everyone is complaining about the drops in the new zone. where drops were supposedly increased. I have full mf gear on my warrior and it doesn't seem to be helping.

The drops in the new zone are ridiculously bad considering the amount of time it takes per karka. It's clear enough that level 80 Orr is most efficient, but I have still seen a severe decrease in drop quality.

And the supposed drop rate fix in 55+ zones? I get 80 whites and blues, maybe a green. Nothing other than vendor trash or a salvage.

I've been getting more rares than ever since Fractal of the Mists came out.

Well, my experience lately has been, I get 2-4 rares every block of 3 fractals, and practically nothing anywhere else. The new island is totally not worth spending any time on at the moment once you've been there for exploration's sake. Hardly any variety in fauna, hardly any events, hardly any loot.

I'm afflicted with some kind of bad loot curse though, I'm probably not representative of the norm.

I haven't seen any problems. Last night in the span of an hour during the Jormag event I got 7 rares and a ton of greens from the shard spawns, junk from the chest though. Overall I farm for forge fodder and ended up with 2 exotics out of the whole thing. I did notice that I didn't get any corrupted lodestones when I would usually get 3-4.

I don't have this issue. I feel like I'm getting more rares now honestly.

Does this have something to do with drops and the antifarm being enemy type specific? FOTM has many enemy types, and even after playing for an hour or two and all the greens drops becoming blue and white, if i get the grawl fractal ill get tons of greens and blues because I haven't killed grawl in weeks. That's how I explained it before I saw this thread. But seriously, did everyone just forget about the anti-farm code? I saw people complaining about it for weeks, then everyone suddenly stopped. Am I missing something or is this a big reason FOTM is so much better than the new areas?

Kinda hard to have any concrete data on this. Although several of my items were from FotM and the Shatterrer this week.

I've gotten great drops since. I even got my first exotic. However I do high level content mostly (exp dungeons, fractals). It appears as though the overalldrop rate is the same but they just moved around who drops them. So the veterans and bosses will have a higher chance while regular mobs have lower chances now.

Yeah outside of FoTM....

I'm certainly seeing a lot fewer rares, as are the people I've grouped with for CS farming (pen/shelter for eg).

It's easy enough to notice that before the patch, in a 2 hour period I'd be getting 1-2 rares from every event on average throughout the whole 2 hours.

Now I barely get 1 rare every 3 events, even at the start.

So with the same chain, same group size, same style and same MF I've noticed a definite drop in loot :/

Ever since the fractal update, there is a higher drop rate for rares and exotics. Fractals, I get 1-2 yellows per 3 fractals and exotic every 6-9 fractals.

Older dungeons, I get a rare every 2 runs.

Field maps... field maps are garbage from what I experience.

BTW, i have ZERO magic find. zero.

So today I got 3 rares for 4 hours effort.

Yesterday I got an exotic and 2 rares, 2.5 hours effort.

The day before that I played 4 hours as well, 7 rares.

None of this counts the map rewards.

So, am I simply amazingly lucky or are you just amazingly unlucky? Only the masses can tell. Looking at the post so far it seems like some are getting better drops and some are getting worse, Fractals appears to be the place to go (though I've gotten zero in fractals), and Southsun Cove appears to be terrible. It could of course just be some whiners or some winners sharing their experiences.

I would like to point out though, and this is the naked truth: No MMO increases the drop chance with effort. A certain mob will have a certain chance of dropping something good, and that's regardless of how much time and/or effort it took you to kill it. This means that the champion you just spend 20 minutes on soloing, dying two times in the process, will still have the same chance to drop a blue for you as it had when 20 other people helped take it down, getting it done in 10 seconds flat. Just keep this in mind when thinking back on your droprate.

They most definately nerfed rare drops. Ask anyone that routinely farmed Orr before and after the Fractal update. Can't speak for rare drops in the fotm. They may have increased the exotic drop rate for veterans/champions, but they intentionally or unintentially screwed with the rare drop rates from normal mobs.
