Why not just ask your crafter friend? As far as I know there is no guide that will give you material lists for crafted items in terms of "X <ore>, Y <log>, Z <fine material>". However, you can get everything you need from the wiki, though you'll have to follow a few links and do some arithmetic to figure out the final material list for the item.
It might be a neat idea if someone would take the time to do this breakdown for every crafted item, but it would be very hard to keep up to date because ANet has been fiddling with the number of raw mats needed for refinement. For example, it used to only take a couple of Green Wood Logs to make a Green Wood Plank, but now it takes more.

http://www.gw2db.com/
Example:
http://www.gw2db.com...ted:total-items
Just press "Total Base Items".
You can either search for a recipe and a complete item on the db.
I have already listed an example of an recipe above.
If you find an actual item:
http://www.gw2db.com...emblazoned-coat
then click on Created From and it will take you to the recipe page.
Now all you have to do is find the other pieces. Weapons work aswell.
Don't use it for jewels, since you might buy the very very very basic ones T1 and someone would have have to craft all the way to T6 mats
