Hey all :)

I thought I'd just go ahead and make a general steam sale thread since we get at least 4 a year and there's really no point in repeatedly making threads for each new sale. Anyway, the Steam Autumn sale has just begun, and today they have a few games on special offer:

21/11/2012
XCOM - 33% off
Magic: The Gathering - 50% off
The Walking Dead - 50% off
Darksiders 2 - 66% off
Age of Empires 3 - 75% off
Terraria - 66% off

Personally I'd recommend Terraria for those of you who want a fun, casual game. I don't think it's as good as Minecraft, but it definitely is a fun little game you can play easily :)

XCOM OM NOM NOM.  I was waiting for the christmas sale, didn't expect it to be 33% off so close to release.

Fun while it lasted.  I guess.

Waiting for Dark Souls! :3
And I hope Mirror's Edge will be reduced again, as well.

I'm surprised Darksiders 2 has gone on sale quite quickly to be honest. That said, I bought the first one and haven't finished it so I won't be buying it any time soon. Age of Empires 3 looked interesting, but my friend says it's not as good as Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings, so I thought I'd give it a miss. I trust his judgement on games more than 99% of people.
The Flash Sales are pretty awesome as well. Knights of the Old Republic 2 is a fantastic game, especially for £1.74. That's cheaper than most app games and it will definitely last you quite a few hours if you don't already own it. The Amazing Spider-Man is a good game as well. It has some of the best web slinging ever and it ties in nicely with the movie :)

Big mistake...AoE3 was one of the best games I've ever played.  IMO, much better than 2.

Take my word with a grain of salt, whatever, but your missing out.  I play that game to this day, and it was released (?) 2007ish?

I am considering buying Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Symphony and Sid Meier's Civilisation 5 - Gods and Kings. I'm not too certain, though. Can any gamers provide some insight on these games?

I'm thinking of Symphony, although I already own Audiosurf. It just sounded and looked like a better version of audsiosurf, and for £3 you can't really complain.

I gave in and bought Amnesia today as I knew it would be on sale, and for £3 you can't really go wrong :P
Has anyone played the Magic: the gathering game? My friend said that he loves the trading card game and would love to play the game on PC. I was thinking about buying it for myself, as well as him and one other friend. Is it worth it?

MTG is fun if you know the card game and enjoy it. I have it on my Xbox and I play it from time to time as I sold my decks forever ago.

I bought Magic: The Gathering for myself and my friends :D
Also checked out Zeno Clash and for 69p that was straight in my cart :D

Oddly enough, I saw Skyrim (the full game) go down in price last week to £17.99 and this week it's gone back up to £34.99 but they've reduced it again because of the sale. Is Steam mucking around, or is the sale not really a sale? :P

Quite tempting, I played about a week of BETA and enjoyed it. Any idea how much it has improved?

There's no way 3 was better than 2. AOK was the golden age of RTS games alongside starcraft brood war. AOE3 was a solid game, but no chance that it was better than 2. I put countless hours into AOK and maybe a month or two at most into AOE3.

I have been playing War of the Roses quite a while and I love it.  They have just released a new mode (Pitched Battle - single life) and new weapons/armour.  There was a balance that made a few weaps either OP or unusable depending on which forum user is posting :P

They have announced there will be big updates every month and they are tweaking and improving it all the time.

The next thing due is 2 new maps.

I got P2 on the Summer sale and the multiplayer is the sole reason why P2 would have been my game of teh year had it been released this year. It's so good!

Btw - anyone have any idea what happened with Dark Souls? It used to be on Steam but now I can't find it anywhere.

EDIT:

So, I TRY to not pirate stuff and now pirating is the only way to play it? Bitch, please!

I got Max Payne 3 (still downloading, this is a HUGE game) and The Walking Dead.  Already made it through all 5 chapters of TWD and..........wow........that is some seriously bleak stuff.  It's one tragedy after the next.  For a non-AAA title, it has some of the best voice acting I've heard (some of the writing is a bit lesser though).  I can't say I exactly enjoyed playing it, but I'm glad I did.
