ArenaNet has announced that the Black Lion Trading Company will be participating in Black Friday sales. This weekend - Friday, Saturday, Sunday - they plan on having a limited-time sale on different items in the Gem store. Each day will list new discounted items with up to 70% off original price so make sure to check the store this weekend while you play!

It tells you in the post, 3 day event lasting 24 hours for each set of 3 items. And they tell you to check the store to find out, my guess they are going to keep it under wraps so people can't pick and choose.

This is getting ridiculous. Anet hasn't let gem prices cool down since Halloween. Every few weeks it's another special thing that can only be done with gems, and now this sale. Well, I guess more people will buy gems to convert to gold now that they get so much return. Always happy to sate the greed of the almighty Anet.

I'm not sure how you managed to twist a holiday sale that everyone in the nation takes part in... into the evil's of ArenaNet. What would you have liked them to do with their business model? Hold a lemonade sale? Some people get lucky and turn a few gold into a lot of gems, some people have a lot of money to buy gems and get gold, and I have a limited amount of funds and happen to like sales.

That's dumb. Why restrict sales in such a fashion unless what you're selling isn't that valuable to begin with.

i wish for no discounts in the current gem shop, but rather new stuff e.g. face change/hair change and items that are actually worth something in the gem shop(e.g. non boxed/chest-ed armor or weapon skins!)

Ummm care to explain what black Friday is to us non Americans please? I take it it's about selling things waaaayyyy below normal price, but is there a history there? Like approaching Christmas they get rid of their old stock?

Its the day after thanksgiving, stores have really nice sales.

In reality the times have changed, Its gone from a couple of hours to an all weekend thing. The Items they advertise for super cheap are limited 5-10 per store, You have to sit in line 12 hours+ to even have a chance at the laptop for $200 or the 50inch plasma TV for $200.

Now they do have other good deals, but nothing like those teaser ones that con people into camping out in front of a store in freezing weather. Its also morphed over the years from mainly retailers, into everyone and there brother having black Friday sales. Be it a car dealership or a restaurant.

I think the "history" behind the name is also the time of year, retail stores went from red to black in profits.

Forgot to add you will see 1-5 cases of people fighting or even killing people over this crap on national news.

Considering how much gems price has rised having a discount will actually make the price for stuff the same of pre-halloween if we are lucky.

Tsk tsk tsk, they should've done something more about this. You know what defines Black Friday more than anything? Raiding and violence. That's why they should've made this an event.

They should've made some sort of brawl event! A few hours in LA where everything would be chaos for people to become the last ones standing and the ones to be able to buy the items for insanely low prices. Will there be blood? Yes. Will there be glory? If by glory you mean dye packs for 20 gems, then yes. Will there be an insane amount of lag? Definitely. Black Friday. Last man standing.

Why would it have to be a 1 time event?  Black Friday is just the start of the holiday shopping season.  People don't get nicer and less violent as soon as the 26th rolls around.  Sure, the amazing deals on TVs and stuff are over, but there's a whole month of shopping left and that woman is gonna die if she think she's getting those shoes... I mean uhhhhh... bring on the in-game shopping brawl!  

I haven't been impressed with the GW2 sale so far.  This might change if character slots get discounted.

The pessimist in me knew they weren't likely to offer things like character slots, bag space, or bank space.
