Elite slot I wanted unlocked. Barring any bad picks on utility, most of the utility slots are filled with what I considered 'good picks'
Then I start picturing myself running the same dungeons I've done with my main, gearing this alt with the skins I want. Imagining what sort of build and gears I'd need to clear the content over and over.
Reality kicks in and I usually just concluded 'I'm done with this guy'. Log off, character select, go back to main for dungeons / World v World until I'm bored.
Do you face the same issue?

Pretty much yeah.
I just leveled my guardian alt to 70, but I was really struggling for motivation to continue passed lvl 40. The main thing that kept me going was trying different builds. Sadly build variety is lacking in GW2 and I'm just not a big fan of the story or the way it's told this time round, which wasn't the case in GW1. It's a bit cheesy for my tastes.
So I'm back on my main, enjoying WvW with the odd dungeon every now n then for a change up.

Started 5 characters took each to lvl 8 or so.
Then ran one up to 80 but when I wanted a change I spent a little time on one or more alt.
I have something like 80 30 22 17 9 so far I am not yet bored. there may be a reason for this and its that I have not yet done every map.
Asura Norn Human and Charr are all still in their own areas and the content I think goes up to 80.so they are not repeating maps already done,
The Sylvari my main has done the Sylvari and Human areas and is as far as Mount maelstrom so it is possible my Human thief will get bored following in the Sylvaris tracks.

My warrior is level 80, and working on his endgame armor. My guardian is 80, and is also working on endgame.
My ranger is level 57, and still levelling. I still find new stuff and rarely get bored.

Oh, and Fractals hurt a lot. I have to unlock every difficulty for each character separately? Come on....

I'm glad about this, that way you wont have people logging their low level alts and complaining about me not wanting to take them to my level 20 fractal.

The same here... I started on my ele, then moved on to my charr ranger, then moved to a sylvari mesmer, meanwhile also started a norn guardian and finally my asuran necromancer. And every time it's like: I want to play that one, but I also want to play that one!

Yep. The thought of getting my Guardian equipped for WvW is very depressing. And it's a shame because I thought this game was going to be very alt friendly.

Personally I think there is a fair bit of variety in this game compared to some.

I have 5 level 80s, with 3 between 30 and 40.
I've found there's actually a lot of flexibility available in a lot of classes late in the game.
My warrior (main) has 3 sets of armor (with 2 sets of accessories) and swaps between 3 drastically different builds, at least one of which wasn't really available until at least level 60 (but I didn't try it until 80). My Ele changes Major traits and utilities often. My guardian's build is still being tweaked. Only my Necro and Engineer are fairly static, and that's perhaps because I don't play them as much as the others.
Try heading on over to your profession's forum, and look through some of the build threads. You might well be surprised with some things you'd not thought of trying.

And my first alt, now level 80 is ... an engineer. Grenades or GTFO - isn't really that fun to be honest. Fingers ache after a while jamming 1 repeatedly for quick tap aoe play. I wish they could relook into that.
I went for Elementalist and got bored of the PVE at 50+
Went warrior and slightly enjoyed the journey, now I'm lvl 30 and got kinda sick of his effectiveness. A lot of regret over not picking him as a main. He just rifle kites everything to death. How cheap is that?

Also running through the same zones with all your characters (the higher level, the less zones to pick from) gets a bit stale.
And some classes are so squishy, it starts to get tedious at a certain moment. And buying best gear to improve dps or survivability - just to throw it away a few levels further - isn't very attractive either.
No wonder my 3 highest level characters are very survivable classes.
Although i hope to get a lvl80 caster one day. I may try crafting as alternative levelling method ^^

Honestly, I drop my alts and just went back to main character cause there's no point bringing a lower level into dungeon when the reward is better as level 80.
I might miss out on the good chunk of XP, but I'd rather not screw up the group by arriving there on an under-geared low toon having pure DPS spec for outside dungeon exploration.

So I wouldn't overly worry about that. Poeple (including me) will continue to level alts and want to have dungeon gear and weapons, even if it's just for the looks.

you mean getting him to level 80 or getting the gear?
I guess leveling him up right? since getting the gear is pretty quick. but if you're having trouble with the gear, keep in mind this is a skill based game. gear helps but just a little bit a full set of rares can be aquired very easily in less then a day and its more then good enough to start with!
