I feel like a lot of us, especially those who no longer care for legendary weapons, have found themselves needing a goal to keep playing Guild Wars 2. I'm curious to hear what some of those goals for people are.

Personally, I've got 5 goals pulling me on, haha. Those would be, 100% map completion (I'm fairly casual about it), 100% dungeon completion, the weapon Soul Links (Oh god, over 200 ectoplasm to go x.X), exotic dungeon armor (most likely Honor of the Waves), and the affording the Khilbron armor set. (I purchased the helmet today, but it looks like it may cost 33 gold for the full set, the price already hopping around throughout the day.)

Of course, my world versus world competitiveness also helps keep me in the game. Honestly, I hadn't realized how many goals I had until I just thought them out now. So how about the rest of you? What's keeping you playing, goal-wise?

Fun and slowly progressing over time.

GW2, to me, is not a game to go 100% hardcore on, it eventually gets boring for the day after some time. Since there are not a lot of things to do anymore, I switch between gw2 and other activities to kill some time.

Legendaries are unbelievably distant for me, I have already achieved the title I wanted in spvp but I still keep playing every now and then because it's kinda fun (usually 1 hour, that's the duration of the daily glory booster).  Maybe do some fractal or two, I'm in scale 5 now... or maybe some other dungeon because I need a secondary armor set.

Daily ori run, leveling my engi alt if I feel like it, meh... I see no goal for me atm, but I keep on playing.

If I had to mention something though, that would be a corrupted scepter, dagger or staff. I'm currently gathering some gold to afford one off the TP, but that'd be it.

Leveling up all 8 professions, getting 100% map completion with all toons, getting a couple of legendaries, etc.

Finish all my sets of armor. Play with all the possible and unimaginable builds in WvW. Get a legendary weapon. Kill a Thief with a wrench.

Making a lot of gold to invest and reinvest, and to make more money.

That way, when the new legendaries come out, I'll have enough money to quickly buy the mats.

A character of each class at level 80.  I still have a ways to go, my lowest level character of the eight is level 32.

Mostly my goal is to play and have fun until I inevitably get burned out. Don't have anything too specific in mind except to get to 80 on my thief and maybe try to obtain the cultural set or something. And to explore as much as possible.

The predator, achievements in general (dungeons, jumping puzzles, etc). Level up all professions and disciplines. In short, beat the game = have every achievement. I'm an achiever in MMOs

Good on you, too many people tire themselves out too fast. As much as I seem like a hardcore completionist, though, (100% map completion AND dungeons xD) I'm really casual about how I do it. It's maybe, 1 day of the week, I might finish an area. If the guild or a friend wants to run a dungeon, I'm definitely on board. That kind of thing.

Also, slightly off topic (very, to be honest), but may I ask where you got your name from? (Came up with it on your own/saw it somewhere/means something to you/etc.) I ask because when I led guilds on F2P MMO's, that was always the guild name I used. Just curious, I'm assuming you came up with it on your own.

8 "complete" characters. To me that means level 80, finished personal story, and a good looking set of max armor.

I'm playing each character 10 levels at a time... really keeps the game fresh. By the time I'm done with that I'm sure there will be an expansion to play around in, and if not I'll ramp up PvP/WvW activity.

Before Ascended tier it was get my Legendary and finish off my dungeon sets and alts on the side, but now I pretty much gave up on that. I figure when I get the time I'll finish off those exotics and leave it at that. I'll try to keep my goal posts the same, in spite of ANet.

These days I play a lot less often and pretty much join any dungeon I feel like at the moment to occupy time, when I do log on. Can't even bother to do my dailies any more. Shame, really.

I'd like to get Tier 3 cultural armor, but I'm not even sure how to begin getting that gold. I've got ~40 stashed away, but it feels like it's going to take forever to get the rest. I've heard it's pretty "easy" to turn 20 gold into 200 gold, but I'm just not clever enough to figure out how.

I'm gradually working towards getting Twilight and currently farming dungeons for armor on my alts. Other than that I still enjoy playing WvW and I haven't even touched SPvP so I have lot to keep me interested in the game for a while yet.

Get one of every profession to lvl 80.  Get each crafting profession max'd.  Get each toon at least one set of exotic armor and weapons and then I will start worrying about legendary or ascended items.

As for me, I have tons of things to do , because I move forward pretty slow.  But somewhere in far future , I would love to have many different characters, collect every skin set available in game ( I know right xD ), 100 % map completion ( I'm 80 for quite long now, but still haven't seen 1/3 of the world ), finding my ultimate build and gameplay style for Ele and make a lot of gold for future updates =P . Max Crafting etc. Also to get, along with other Gunnar's, our sweet Homeworld at the top of the list =P . Long term goals hehe !

Getting each class to 80. For my main character I'm working on 100% map completion and tier 3 Sylvari cultural armor.

Working towards all of these goals at the most leisurely pace. For me, the trip has always been more fun than the destination.

80 (currently at 56), full exotic and then ascend, and in the meanwhile going for w3 since my guild is focused on w3 alot, aaaaaaaand the legendary wep. Of course, doing all kinds of dungeons.

Tier 3 Norn heavy armor. I'm not a fan of any of the dungeon armor. I was going to go for a Legendary, but I don't know if I can be bothered doing that anymore.

The only goal I can think of, right now, is getting 100% map completion.  And getting achievements without actively going going for them.  I could look up on the wiki where all goggles are hidden, for instance, but I find it more fun to stumble across one...

Get every profession to level 80, get one of every possible weapon type for them (if they can dual wield, get them two of that weapon), get perfect armor/jewelry/runes for them, get every pet for ranger (done), get every skill available to them, get 100% map completion for each, have fun.

Hi, just an idea, but you can buy rares between level 75-79 (put in an offer about 60-75% of the seller's price), and put them in the mystic forge. With 20 g, chances are you should get a buttload of exotics, some of which should be rather sellable.

Of course, this is sort of a gamble, but should your luck be just at a medium level, you'll probably get a good deal of exotics, enough to earn your spendings back (or at least almost) and there's also the possibility of getting some of the hardcore sellers, suddenly earning you enough for 2-3 tier 3 cultural armor sets in one go
