What's Your Goal?

Complete all jumping puzzles.

* learning more about your class
* levelling an alt
* grinding a bit for money to get dyes, gems and other stuff I can't craft myself
* fractals (I greatly dislike new stats gear but hey! it's new content!)
* farming ores for crafting
* just walking around
Still have to try PvP one day.
Definitely not going to do 100% world completion as I'm really extremely fed up with all the running around for POIs and vista's.

*Two more alts, finish my ranger and explore the world with my Necromancer
*Craft a Legendary, any of them, and then craft one for each alt
*Find engaging Roleplaying
That's about it.

* Taking down as many risen as I can in one go. (Adjusting my build to perfect this is part of it.)
* Taking down champions on my own.
* Trying to get to places that appear to be unreachable. (This usually involves a lot of swiftness-jumping and leaping)
* Ressurecting people in immense trouble. The worse their situation, the better for me.
* Maximizing my killing speed on a specific foe. For lack of a 'master of damage' I tend to pick out tough veterans and time it.
* Solve dungeon-problems. Figuring out a way to destroy all the skelknests fast enough in one of the dungeonpaths for example.
* Aiding people that ask for help.
* Building my gear to the max of my skill/trait-setup's potential. (This new ascended stuff will take some time...but if it turns out to be a lot better than exotic gear, I'll have to get it or give up on this goal... sigh)
* Making the world a better place.
* Create options by levelling alts & buying different sets of gear. So I can adapt to a lack or excess of conditions in the party for example.
* Unlocking all cooking recipes. (By trial & error, every update that adds to the list of possible dishes resets this goal)
* Entertain the guild, this one hasn't been high on the goals-list, it'll need some more attention.
* Try to find the most amazing places the designers could come up with.
* Jumping puzzles, once I find one, I have to do it. Though I'm not actively looking for them on the web.
* More goals, many of them just pop-up as I wander through Tyria. Whenever something looks like it'll be a unique challenge... I'm going to be busy for the night.
I set too many goals in life... it is starting to become impossible to find the time for all of them. (And I'm pretty good at creating 'free time', just... so many...)

Hi, just an idea, but you can buy rares between level 75-79 (put in an offer about 60-75% of the seller's price), and put them in the mystic forge. With 20 g, chances are you should get a buttload of exotics, some of which should be rather sellable.
Of course, this is sort of a gamble, but should your luck be just at a medium level, you'll probably get a good deal of exotics, enough to earn your spendings back (or at least almost) and there's also the possibility of getting some of the hardcore sellers, suddenly earning you enough for 2-3 tier 3 cultural armor sets in one go
Dont they have to be lvl 80 rares to get exos or you'll be putting in lvl 75s and getting a lvl 80 rare right?

First, I wanna finish the story on my main 5. Then, of course, I wanna get them all nice looking armor sets. I'd also like all of them to have map completion, but first I wanna make sure I max out of of my crafting.
Then, I'll go through the other story branches with alts. Finally, I'll start working on achievements. Hopefully, an expansion will be coming out around this time...

That's Infinite Light.
If you're looking to get it, prepare, it's not cheap. Neither time wise nor gold wise.
You'll need
250x Orichalcum Sword Blade (=1500 Orichalcum Ore)
250x Charged Lodestone (Yep, ouch)
100x Mystic Coin
1x Eldritch Scroll
Pop that in the mystic forge and you shall receive. Got to admit the lodestones are the biggest pain and will either cost you a load of money (500g-ish), or weeks/months of grinding.

I've not done a single dungeon yet I have 4 level 80 toons and another in their 50's but only my guardian has exotic gear. I'm the only person in the guild I'm in that has logged in within the last few weeks! so I'm disheartened to say the least.
Goal 1 = find a guild that welcomes noobs & does dungeon runs

Story Line Completed? Check.
Full Exotics and an Armor set I like? Check.
Done sPvP and WvW for many hours? Check.
100% Map Completion? Check.
Get my Legendary? Not check. Too much RNG.
Level an Alt? Not check. Why bother aside from for PvP purposes?
Get my Ascended armor? Not check. Bored of grind.
Think that about covers it. Anything else I can do that someone can think of, aside for role play?

That might work for you, but I've given up. I solo around %90 of the time, and I'm very particular about when and how I will group. I've finally realized that no matter what sweet promises devs make solo players, they hate us and they will punish us every way they can for going solo.
So to hell with them and to hell with spending money on their MMOs. I hope they all go broke.

Necro and Engineer still have not completed their personal story. There are both in Straits of Devastation.
Ranger is aiming for world completion.
Guardian needs to join dungeon groups for HotW to get exotic armor
Slowly getting more exotics for all my characters as I earn gold.
But I am doing all these very casually, taking my time. I have not been playing much as I am bored with this game and would probably play less in the coming future. The ascended gear grind was the last straw that dashed any hope that I had for this game.
As for those who are farming gold, the way I see it, if you earn more than $20/hour in your job, you already earn more than about 20g38s8c/hour in GW2 currency. So you can spend your hours farming gold in the game, or you can spend time doing what you like, and pay for the gold through gems.
You can farm for gold in the game or you can farm for gold in real life (i.e. this is probably faster for most people). Makes sense to me to use the more productive farming method.

Still no clue why anyone would want to play a solo RPG in a MMO. There are so many single player RPGs. Kinda stupid.

Because %10 of the time I do enjoy grouping if the circumstances are right. Also, MMOs are different in content and flavor from single player games, as I'm sure you'll realize if you pause a second to think about it.

Phew. No husband aggro for me, fortunately, I'm not married, but I do get kid aggro from time to time. But mostly it's just that some days I feel like wandering around by my lonesome, exploring, harvesting, and killing things. It's peaceful and relaxing and I bloody well like it, damn it!

- 100% Map on my main
- Finish my remaining story dungeons (didn't go past Caedecus)
- Acquire all desired skins/stats on my main
- Level/equip my alts
- Kudzu
Maybe I'll start dabbling in PvP at some point too, but for now that's more than enough to keep me occupied any given play session.

after that i want to get ouroboros, khilbron's phylactery and an ascended rabid backslot for my level 80 ranger, which is my main character and any ascended ring and ascended backslot with 25+ agony resistance for my level 80 guardian, which is my main FoTM character.

oh wow, this just made it into my goals. . . what is this sword?
but on topic: i suppose my goal is to just complete all the hearts, see all the vistas, and obtain all skill points from SP challenges in every area in the game. then i want my tier 3 cultural heavy armor set, and then id like to join a casual guild and try out the dungeons or Fractal content. im sure i can find some patient and helpful peeps willing to run my wife and i through the lower levels, it'll be a blast!

QFT. You can indeed farm gold in real life. The time spent on playing game farming gold or the time spent on working earning cash and using that cash to buy gems to gold. both are legit. the latter might be less tasking for some people.

How long do you play to encounter your "10% of the time urge to group up". Seems like you're a pretty casual player who spends about an hour to maybe 3 hours a day? Going into a game designed as a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, and demanding that single players get some attention is silly.
And your right circumstances... lol... You expect to find 4 others to fit your mood? Even in a room of 200 players that might be asking too much. Again throw the single player self content attitude out in a MMO. You're not going to find your niche, ever in a MMO. You can only do so much as 1 person. And when this game has a severe lack in group content, asking for single player content... Completely dismissible.

So the current goal is to find some nice names for a few new characters - and then I'll probably just hang around in the norn starter area. ^^
